pixelated Posted March 8, 2008 Posted March 8, 2008 I'm 6'5", and go to SFoG often. I've never been asked to be measured when riding any of the rides. However, I'm taking a trip to SFGAdv in about a month and a half. I went last year with no problems, but this year (I've grown about an inch) I'm worried that I may not get to ride all the rides. So how often do the ride ops measure a person for being too tall on a coaster?
sfotkid Posted March 8, 2008 Posted March 8, 2008 ..Hmm, My Brother in law is 6' 9" and He has ridden everything at Gadv. So I dont think you will have any problems. Though I would hate to get a fore head full of wood on El Toro head choppers.
knottslover77 Posted March 8, 2008 Posted March 8, 2008 Wait your 14 and 6'5", OMG!!! Well if a 6'9" person can get on the rides then you probably can too. --Jay
ebl Posted March 9, 2008 Posted March 9, 2008 The only rides that I know of with maximum height limits are Deja Vu (now only the SFMM one is left), and the Intamin rocket coasters (because of being taller than the headrest). Of course, some kiddie rides have such limits just to keep the adults off! Eric

kraken613 Posted March 9, 2008 Posted March 9, 2008 I'm 6'1'' and 14. I do think some coasters are more comfortable if your tall and some are less.
astroworldfan1 Posted March 9, 2008 Posted March 9, 2008 I haven't seent the ops check height at the enterance to the rides in a long time. I hate it how they check and see if you are tall enough when your restraint is all ready and locked in. It makes you feel like, " Yes! I get to ride this!". And then they make you get off! -Tatum "That's only happened once on Batman at SFOG"!

SLCs have height limits of 6'6" I believe. I was height checked on DLs Ride of Steel. (I think the limit there was 6'4" or 6'5")
Yankee cannonball Posted March 9, 2008 Posted March 9, 2008 ^passing the height limit for an SLC would be a blessing
ebl Posted March 9, 2008 Posted March 9, 2008 ^^ I believe you're correct. Of course, remember that Deja Vu and SLCs are made by our favorite coaster manufacturer... Eric

hansrubens Posted March 13, 2008 Posted March 13, 2008 I'm 6'5" and the only ride I was not able to ride was Euro Mir in Europapark. I also was turned away from Black Mamba at the normal entrance but when I hit the quick pass entrance it was no problem at all. I guess their policy is.... when the tall guys pay, they may ride. ..Hmm, My Brother in law is 6' 9" and He has ridden everything at Gadv.So I dont think you will have any problems. Purplepills Posted March 13, 2008 Posted March 13, 2008 I'm 6'4 and haven't had any major problems getting on rides, but then I haven't been to that many parks. I find its not the ops stopping you riding so much as as fitting into the car. Viper at SFMM is a problem, as is Colossus at Thorpe park, because my shoulders are above the pivot point on the restraint. I have to slouch down a bit in my seat, which then means I have to squash my legs in a bit. Also I find if my feet are flat on the floor, the restraint hits the top of my legs before the belt will do up, so I then have to cross my legs at the ankles and let me knees drop each side just to get it down. Didn't have any problems on Stealth at Thorpe, other than its just a bit cramped. Give me a B&M Invert or floorless, they're the most comfortable thing I've been on!

Nothing is more frustrating then waiting in line for an hour only to find out that you can't ride it!
rollerboy Posted March 29, 2008 Posted March 29, 2008 Haha me and my friend and his mum and his bro rode Nemesis inferno at thorpe park then when we went to ride it again they wouldnt let his brother on because he was to short (i no we are on about tall) which i thought was majorly stupid LOL what do you think?

It always makes my neck really sore (and I'm only 5'7'').

I think the ride ops erred in letting the little guy ride the first time. You are right that was "majorly stupid" of them. Following safety rules should always take priority. I also think you need to learn proper punctuation and capitalization rules.
astroworldfan1 Posted March 30, 2008 Posted March 30, 2008 One time is was at my local fair, and I wanted to ride that Zamperla ride. I was clearly tall enough to ride it, rode it once, went back and the carnie told me I was way to short. I was like WTF! I just rode this a minute ago! -Tatum "Damn carnies"!
kraken613 Posted March 30, 2008 Posted March 30, 2008 I think Arrow coasters are better when your taller. When I was short even TN Tornado wasnt as good because there was alittle headbanging but now my heads taller than the restraint I have no problem.
dougr Posted March 30, 2008 Posted March 30, 2008 Don't some of the suspended shuttle coasters like V2 have maximum height limits so you don't bang your feet on anything?
Bolliger&Mabillard Posted April 30, 2008 Posted April 30, 2008 Yea. Inverted Impulses have those height limits because the floor does not drop.
padresguy619 Posted May 6, 2008 Posted May 6, 2008 Knight's Tournament at LLC is very strict about the height as well for those who are pretty tall. The whole park is pretty strict for every ride. The child's head must hit the height bar in order to ride for safety reasons.
