Noxegon Posted December 9, 2007 Posted December 9, 2007 I've just added a large number of photographs of Kuwaiti theme parks to my web site. Direct links: Al-Sha'ab Leisure Park Entertainment City Kuwait Magic Hawally Park I've also posted trip reports here. If anyone wants to try to recreate this trip I'll do my best to help them out.
NewsPlusNotes Posted December 9, 2007 Posted December 9, 2007 Thanks for the photos! I had no idea that Al-Sha'ab Leisure Park moved the Spiral Coaster from Korea. That's such an interesting ride - I see that rcdb now lists it as SBNO. Anyway, thanks again the photos of rides that are hard to come by! Mike
Noxegon Posted December 9, 2007 Author Posted December 9, 2007 Yup, that's what the park told us; it developed a technical issue two years ago that maintenance have yet to fix.
Loefet Posted December 9, 2007 Posted December 9, 2007 Nice!! Do you have some more pictures of that Schwarzkopf one? I would be really interested if you have.
Noxegon Posted December 9, 2007 Author Posted December 9, 2007 I have a few, but they're not great unfortunately. Dust in the air was a big problem for pictures. Oasis Express is a nice ride to be sure, though it's rather gentle by usual Schwarzkopf standards...
Tanks4me05 Posted December 10, 2007 Posted December 10, 2007 Dang, you actually went to Lina World! I think that is one of my favorite Japanese parks in terms from what I saw on rcdb. Anyway, did you ride Entertainment City's Tornado ride? That thing looked insane, and you didn't post a review in your TR. One more thing, I was surprised that the mid east had so many parks (I thought there would be close to none, but there's roughly two dozen, though only about ten or less are worth visiting coaster-wise) Are Israel, Lebanon, and Kuwait (the best "coaster countries" in the mid east) safe enough for an American tourist like me to go to? (Compared to both ends of the spectrum - UAE and Iraq.)
stormrider Posted December 10, 2007 Posted December 10, 2007 Roller Coaster at Al Sha'ab looks to be when Arrow became more freeform with their looping coasters.
pagemaster_b Posted December 10, 2007 Posted December 10, 2007 Coming home from Afghanistan, I got stuck in Kuwait for a few days. I knew there were some amusement parks there, but they wouldn't let us off post to go find them. Needless to say, I'm jealous. Hopefully the next time I pass that way I won't be as tied up, but I doubt the next couple times I'm in Kuwait, it won't be for tourism.
FLIPDUDE Posted December 10, 2007 Posted December 10, 2007 Whoa. Those annoying Lebanese. And I'm not mad at them for the usual Israel vs. The world issues. I just hate that they have such awsome coasters and rides within driving distance and I can't even get here I mean... I never knew I live within a short drive's distance from a beemer!
Noxegon Posted December 10, 2007 Author Posted December 10, 2007 The advice from the Irish department of foreign affairs is that unessential travel to Lebanon should be avoided, but that Kuwait is fine.
FLIPDUDE Posted December 10, 2007 Posted December 10, 2007 Yes, well, the advice fromt he Israeli department of foreign affairs is mroe along hte lines of "F*ck no." Couldn't go there if I wanted, if you consider we just had a war with them and all...
Noxegon Posted December 12, 2007 Author Posted December 12, 2007 I seem to recall that Lebanon will not allow Israeli passport holders into the country anyway even if you wanted to visit.
FLIPDUDE Posted December 12, 2007 Posted December 12, 2007 Yes, I know. That might have something to do witht he fact we were just at war, as Imentioned in my previous post.
OldJJman Posted December 13, 2007 Posted December 13, 2007 Cool stuff Richard!! Thanks for posting!! JJ
Gav Posted December 13, 2007 Posted December 13, 2007 Is it just me, or in this pic: http://www.themeparks.ie/asia/entcity/lightning1.htm Does the train pass through water jets in the trench where the wingover is?
Noxegon Posted December 13, 2007 Author Posted December 13, 2007 The water stops as the train approaches. Initially I thought it might be there for decoration but in reality I think it may be there to stop the trench filling up with sand.
CoasterFanatic Posted December 13, 2007 Posted December 13, 2007 Very interesting photos. Don't see these everyday. Where is the next destination, Richard? You seem to have been just about everywhere
Team Thriller Posted December 13, 2007 Posted December 13, 2007 I never knew there was so much in Kuwait! Never seen these before. This is a first for me! Thanks for sharing --James
Noxegon Posted December 13, 2007 Author Posted December 13, 2007 Where is the next destination, Richard? You seem to have been just about everywhere Not sure at the moment... next years agenda is still somewhat up in the air, other than TPR China, which is confirmed. For what it's worth, although I've got over #1100 credits to my name I've still got two continents I've yet to start on....
FLIPDUDE Posted December 13, 2007 Posted December 13, 2007 Heh, well, you could aways be the first person to ever come to Israel for it's coasters
Noxegon Posted December 13, 2007 Author Posted December 13, 2007 Wow... a Boomerang, a SLC, and half a dozen Pinfaris. I'll have to go there!
FLIPDUDE Posted December 13, 2007 Posted December 13, 2007 Don't forget the couple of kiddie coasters who's makers are a complete mystery(even to the parks who own them )
DenDen Posted December 13, 2007 Posted December 13, 2007 I LOVE stuff like this, thanks for posting! Absolutely incredible.
the sound Posted December 14, 2007 Posted December 14, 2007 Screw Israel, go to North Korea! North korea FTW! They have a double loop coaster and a loop coaster ! As well as two rollercoasters called Kwansong Tancha. Pretty strange, eh.
Noxegon Posted December 14, 2007 Author Posted December 14, 2007 I've been looking at the logistics of doing just that...
