Thom25
^YES - could not agree more on all your points. I think once this ride breaks in and starts going faster with the warmer weather - this is going to be one hell of a ride. Thanks for posting the video (no doubt) - excellent vantage point and quality.
vacoaster
The pacing seems alright to me. It surely speeds through those corkscrews followed by whats seems amazing air on the bunny hill. The little roar goes silent as it crests over the bunny hill so there definitely air there. How many trains are going to be running at one time. The blocking isn't going to help capacity unless they can have one train in the cycle one in the breaks, one in the part right before the station, one in the station and one right before the lift hill. Basically a trains has to wait till one completes the course to start up the lift from what I see.
Tmcdllr
The roar could be explained by a different type of wheel. When Tatsu was testing they were trying different wheel types...one was louder than the other. I know they are two different makes but if the wheels are hard (nylon?) they will be louder than softer ones that are urethane. Just a thought. alpengeist04
^^^^^ & ^^^^Yep, definitely meant Hershey. LR and Wildcat vs. ET, SR vs. KK, GB vs. B:TR, etc. Other than El Toro, I would take Storm Runner, Lightning Racer, Fahrenheit, and maybe even Wildcat over any other coaster at Great Adventure. Yes, even over Nitro. While Nitro is fun, it's really nothing special and IMO very overrated in the coaster polls. So it's really a toss up for me, because IMO El Toro is that good. Kennyweird
The pacing seems alright to me. I agree. Judging by the video, it should be fairly intense ride (at least towards the end). I didn't see anything too wrong with the pacing. The blocking isn't going to help capacity unless they can have one train in the cycle one in the breaks, one in the part right before the station, one in the station and one right before the lift hill. Basically a trains has to wait till one completes the course to start up the lift from what I see. Lets hope they can manage the train stacking issue better than Cedar Point can manage Maverick's. knowit
Just talked to someone who is involved with the new coaster. They are not testing multiple sets of wheels. They will be using the same ones installed on the train now. Accelerometer testing should begin tomorrow if it hasn't already started today. Humans may start testing the ride as soon as Friday. A little bit on the chain and the rollback system. The dogs on the chain attach to the back of the train and push the train up the lift. Both chains run independently of each other. If one chain breaks, the other chain is completely capable of pushing the train over the hill. I also found out the way the lift is set up, the train cannot fall backwards. (Unless the train is put into retrieval mode, at which time maintainance can lower the train or push it over the lift hill depending on the situation) This person did not go into detail, but apparently since the system is hydraullic, the system wont allow the train to fall backwards. Not exactly sure how this will work , but I was assured that it's totally safe. In the unlikely event that both chains would break or malfunction, riders will be safe. USCoaster
I am impressed with all of the pictures of Fahrenheit so far. I'm just sad that it will be opening the weekend after I get to visit. I haven't been to Hersheypark since the year Wildcat opened so I have a quick question about park operations. The 10 day forecast on weather.com is saying it will rain on Friday the 16th when I was planning on visiting. How does Hersheypark deal with rain and ride operation? If they don't run the coasters in the rain, I will probably change my plans if the forecast is right.
hersheykid
From my experience the coasters usually run in the rain just not thunderstorms Storm Runner has been known to close first for storms however and sometimes even in the rain. Hershey has a good weather system however so if a storm is near don't expect them to be waiting to hear thunder to close some of the lightning proned rides. Like I said this is just from experience but I hope it helps.

That explains the longs straight section before the chain lift. Is this the first coaster to use this technology?
ghost007jas
I got an email from Hershey today explaining the riding arrangements/meet up spot for Fahrenheit. Basically the Nantimi 11 will have ERT on the coaster from 9:45 to 10am. Sounds like a pretty sweet deal! It really is a shame I wont be able to go . alpengeist04
^Sorry to hear you can't go. For the others, they should be able to get a good 4 or 5 rides in.
knowit
I got my e-mail just a little while ago;) I believe the zac spin has a similar system, but they are not identical.
Kennyweird
^ Yes, ZacSpin's do have the same lift system. You can clearly see duel lift chains in the picture. I don't think we need to worry about the chain lift on Fahrenheit, the chances of both chains failing is probably about the same as the anti-rollback dogs breaking on a standard lift. snoflake404
I had employee orientation today, and got some pics of the ride. Unfortunately a rainy day meant no testing, but still a cool coaster. A goose that's stuck in the train's entrance. It had two goslings that were able to squeeze through, but it's too big. Watch out, there's a cobra loose in Hershey... Mmmm, Norwegian Loop. Vertical Goodness Loop and Cobra Lift hill plus loop.
Thom25
Thanks for the pictures - Awesome - It looks like one hell of a ride and can not wait to ride it. Are there any other testing videos?

ShannonSomerville
Was at the park for a couple of hours on Sunday. Pictures alone don't do this ride. Seeing it testing was great. The color scheme looks good.
Kennyweird
Nice TR. Did you get the goose out of the fence?
RinkyDink94
That looks like an awsome ride, it is a shame I will never get to ride it.
snoflake404
The sheet metal areas surrounding the station were spackled today. I would expect that no more testing will be done for a few days. That's not to say that I don't plan on taking my camera to work everyday in hopes of catching a test run.

hphappy
Here's a link to the article (without the pictures). Provides some nice insight and also mentions "est". Thats the first I've heard of that acronym. http://www.pennlive.com/news/patriotnews/index.ssf?/base/news/1210970405181280.xml&coll=

Swimace
^^That's an interesting article. I wish we knew more about what companies submitted designs and what those plans looked like. I would imagine that one of the companies mentioned was Gerstlauer and maybe another was Maurer Sohne, but I wonder what the other company was and which ones had which problems (not fun enough, too expensive, not enough capacity). When Busch was in the early stages of creating SheiKra, there were rumors that the park looked into B&M building a vertical lift, so perhaps B&M submitted a design. Anyone know more?
