FLIPDUDE Posted June 13, 2007 Author Posted June 13, 2007 ^Ah, sorry. Should've been a bit more specific though. Anyhow, it's final exam season, my bosses are sitting on my neck hard with the wonder of the ever-shortening deadline, it's 3AM and I'm going thorugh some personal stuff, too. My sarcasm detectors are offline and my stress levels are at an all-time high, so I apologize if I act agitated.
Top Thrill Dragster Posted June 13, 2007 Posted June 13, 2007 Cant wait for part 2. I am interested on how you got back.
FLIPDUDE Posted June 13, 2007 Author Posted June 13, 2007 ^Actually the way back was pretty uneventful. I hardly remember it even. Part 2 will focus around how I tried to make the most out of Alton Towers in 30 minutes. Also, coaster05, this was not a coaster vacation, it was a regular vacation and my dad was kind enough to give up a day of hanging around London in order for me to go to an amusement park I really wanted to go to. So I couldn't go back the next day. And we didn't rent a car because we figured taking the trian would be much cheaper, simpler, and besides, we're not used to driving on the left side of the road.
coaster05 Posted June 13, 2007 Posted June 13, 2007 Coaster vacation or not, it just seems like once all that bad stuff happened it would have been easier to go back another time, or not go at all, but that is just me. BTW, "butchering the rail system" I meant that you guys messed up on where to go.
FLIPDUDE Posted June 13, 2007 Author Posted June 13, 2007 ^Not really, you see, it appeared that nothing that happened to us that day was specific for that day. meaning if we were to go back and try again some other day that could very well mean gong through the same hting all over agian, also, we didnt know things would keep going the way they did. we figured we mgiht as well jsut get it over with. AS for messing up on where to go, somehow my dad mixed up St. Pancras and St. Fenchurch, and the lady at the information didn't let us know that it's not the most efficient route. It was as simple as that.
BeemerBoy Posted June 13, 2007 Posted June 13, 2007 This whole thread would be much better in cartoon form.
robinschroder Posted June 13, 2007 Posted June 13, 2007 I hope this doesn't put anyone off from potentially visiting Alton Towers if ever in London from outside of the UK. Sure, Alton Towers is a fair few miles away, and it's in what could be considered a relatively remote location, but there's a great train / bus / entrance / bus / train all-inclusive deal run by Midland Mainline from London St Pancras station that makes a day out at Alton Towers from London without a car really easy! Robin
IceDragon Posted June 13, 2007 Posted June 13, 2007 This whole thread would be much better in cartoon form. Hint much? Would be pretty cool! Come on!!! Bring us part 2!!!
jasper2 Posted June 13, 2007 Posted June 13, 2007 Interestingly enough, I read the whole thing and am actually waiting on part 2.

A message to one of the site's moderators would have been better, as this is something that is best left out of threads not to clog it up... especially when you otherwise contributed nothing to the thread as far as taking Virgin... http://www.virgintrains.co.uk/altontowers/default.aspx what a deal
ginzo Posted June 14, 2007 Posted June 14, 2007 as far as taking Virgin... http://www.virgintrains.co.uk/altontowers/default.aspx what a deal That is an absurdly good deal. I seem to remember paying like £10.00 just to go from Gatwick to London.
Ed Posted June 14, 2007 Posted June 14, 2007 They're trains that tilt.... I dunno how else to put it.
FLIPDUDE Posted June 14, 2007 Author Posted June 14, 2007 ^Just googled them. They look AWSOME! I saw them in the game Locomotion, didn't know they actually exist. Pretty cool!
bovinejumpsuit Posted June 23, 2007 Posted June 23, 2007 I really liked part on of your trip report Flipdude, sorry it kinda got lost in this thread, can't wait to read part 2. And Louise, about my post on the top of the second page, I thought it was pretty obvious that I was being sarcastic. If it wasn't I'll go back to lurking. There is not a bit of England I hate, it is the best country in the world and it would be impossible to hate it. I save my vitriol for Wales
Louise Posted June 23, 2007 Posted June 23, 2007 I save my vitriol for Wales I pissed myself laughing at this, which makes me a total hypocrite, but I don't care.
bovinejumpsuit Posted June 23, 2007 Posted June 23, 2007 Doesn't make you a hypocrite, just means you're not an idiot.
FLIPDUDE Posted June 23, 2007 Author Posted June 23, 2007 ^I guess that makes me one because I dont know what Vitriol is. I probably know what it is in hebrew, but I never heard that word in english before.
