TyRush
Congrats to the Hawks, there is a team that didn't quit. Although Patty shouldn't have gotten MVP
chemical_echo
One of the Toronto papers (along with many Toronto fans I know) are trying to make Chicago winning the cup seem like Toronto won the cup since Boston took out the Leafs in round 1. Â All I can do is shake my head and try to remind them that when your team exits the playoffs there is a 0% chance they are going to the win the cup. Jew
Thanks for taking Bernier off the Kings hand and giving them the replacement for Dustin Penner!
beatle11
I like Frattin, but realistically he's a third liner at best. Bernier has the highest potential of everyone involved. I'm not sure the Leafs needed to make that trade but they didn't trade anything major away so I'm okay with it.

Leafs gave Frattin, Scrivens, AND a 2nd round pick which in todays drafts means a good player
beatle11
Yeah, they definitely took a risk, but they didn't go overboard either. A 2nd rounder could end up being a pretty good player, or maybe not.
Jew
Draft picks are definitely at a premium now with the new salary cap structure. Lots of NHL ready (or close to it) in first couple rounds. The challenge in the second round is signing those guys away from their college or junior team.
imawesome1124
So far I like what GMGM's done with the draft. Maybe it will cancel out the idiotic decision to trade Forsberg away before he ever even played. I'm still mad at him for doing that.

I'm still mad at him for doing that. Agreed, while Lata is a perfect fit for our team in the future, Erat is not a good fit to me and he makes too much $$ and is still under contract for 2 years! I think that was a 4/10 trade for me. Very poor  On the other hand i hope we get a chance at Vinny, although he talked to 10 teams, i think he would be a good fit with Perreault and Fehr as a 3rd line, hell maybe 2nd if we cant keep Ribs
beatle11
The Leafs picked up Bolland today and I'm very happy with the trade. He played a big role in both of the Hawks cup wins.
TyRush
^Yes very good pick up. Â I also think the Islanders got a blockbuster! Clutterbuck and a pick for a Nino Nidderr..whatever! Cal is one of the best power forwards in the game. Â Devils finally solved their post Marty goalie issue
imawesome1124
Ribeiro is no longer with the Caps, kind of disappointed. but it looks like The Paralyzer is out too, and if that happens I'll be very disappointed. Hendricks isn't a big offensive contributor but he's a terrific grit player and a great leader. He should have been made a priority, along with Johansson and Alzner. If we can't keep Hendricks, we need to make extra sure we lock of Mojo and Alzner. Also, Holtby's only got one year left on his contract, he should be the #1 priority after next season. Despite the extremely rough start he was stellar all season and postseason with the exception of game 7. He is the franchise goalie we haven't had since Kolzig, and we need to keep him at all costs. Â And TyRush, I don't think we can afford Vinny if we can't even afford Ribeiro. It would be nice though.
TyRush
I would like to see them buyout Erat and Schultz. Right now they have 5.6million available to sign UFA/RFA's and Free Agents. If they buyout those two, Erat makes 4.5 and Jeff is 2.75m! Thats now roughly 12 million we could have available. We could get a good forward and D-man while keep our guys (Alzner, Johansson) •I would much rather have Ribs than Erat but it seems Ribs is gone  If your wondering if i pulled the money outta my a$$ i didnt!  http://www.capgeek.com/capitals

I'd like to see both of them gone because at this point they're just taking up spots on the roster.
I305KD
Caps shouldn't have wasted Filip Forsberg to get Erat. He did nothing. Ribiero is a much harder worker than Erat is. Â Meanwhile, my Rangers got Justin Falk and Danny Syvret for pretty much nothing. Two young defensemen that we could use especially without Staal and Sauer. Athletekim
I still can't believe that Lou was able to get Schneider for only the 9th overall pick, while other teams were trying to bribe the Canucks with players and picks! It is great to know that once Brodeur is done we will still have a strong goaltender in the crease. Â I can already tell that this upcoming Devils season is going to be a lot of fun and full of wins. TyRush
^Yea im still shocked at that trade, however, the Canucks got a nice pick in Bo Horvat, so i think overall the Devils still win this one, but Vancouver didnt toatally fail on their end either. I watched quite a bit of OHL hockey and London was always playing. Horvat was one of the players that stood out immediately. Max Domi is another guy who stood out, he's going to Phoenix. Jew
^I think that was the best deal an Eastern Conference team gave them. They didn't want him to go to another team in the West. This draft was a deeper draft class, so the opportunity to get a young talent was probably the best bet anyways. Â There's also the fact that everyone knew the Canucks were handcuffed: they're stuck with Loungo's awful contract and there was a 0% chance Cory Schneider would stay after his contract was up (maybe he'd even bust a Tim Thomas?). TyRush
What I love best is Luongo pretty much planned to leave Vancouver, and now he is stuck there, unless they can swing him to someone. Nobody will want his contract with the new cap, and i think thats a main reason they couldnt get a deal done with a team along with the fact they probably asked for too much in return. I think he is still a top 5 goalie in the NHL especially with the goalie dilemma off his back now.
beatle11
Luongo is a consummate professional and he will be there at training camp and give it his best. He's still a good goaltender, and his teammates should have his back. I get that he's shocked. I would be too after everything that's happened over the last year. But once he has a chance to take it all in and relax, he'll be back.
TyRush
Well the Caps put Schultz on waivers, probably doing that to see if someone claims him before they have to buy him out. My wish is 1/2 way done, now Erat! Â Any Flyer fans? Well you already got Lecavlier, 5 years 22million!
