speedracer Posted March 15, 2007 Author Posted March 15, 2007 Sure people will get used to it, but I know me pesonally I will forever call it "Not Great America" or "Not So Great America." Ironic since I've been calling it Not So GA ever since Paramount ran the place into the ground! Someone mentioned it becoming the Astroworld of the CF chain, was already always considered the AW of the Paramount parks, so no new status there. They really should just change the name, Paramount already strip-mined the original beautiful theming/landscaping out of it, not much of America left in it, let alone anything Great. So really no point in hanging onto a name that has no relevance with the park anymore anyways.
Manic Monte Posted March 16, 2007 Posted March 16, 2007 I so agree with you. The name change itself gets a big, old-fashioned *YAWN* from me, and I just don't get why it would bother anyone. I could care less about the name. If it works out for them, great! I personally only care whether they can fix some of the problems with the park that Paramount did to it. For one thing, give me one stand out reason to ever care about visiting there again. Paramount couldn't do it, so if nothing else, a name change at least gives me hope that they are trying to move as far away from that previous ownership as possible.
darklingscribe Posted March 16, 2007 Posted March 16, 2007 I hope the first thing that they do is change the half-assed Boomerang Bay into a full fledged Soak City. Five Slides and an endless river does not a water park make.
coastered Posted March 16, 2007 Posted March 16, 2007 For me it was already a Not So Great America when they removed both Stealth and Greezed Lightnin' and built a stupid waterpark in 2002/2003. What will be the next major thrillride that will be removed from the park?
RollerC Posted March 17, 2007 Posted March 17, 2007 Would you guys feel better if it was "Cedar's Great America" or "Vallyfairs Great America!"
laqueefa Posted March 17, 2007 Posted March 17, 2007 new orleans orbit should be making a come back this season. hopefully its a trend that cedar keeps up. id like to get the tidal wave back(wishful thinking i know), or at least a new coaster in the next couple of years.
Calvin Posted March 18, 2007 Posted March 18, 2007 Possible names that would be better: Great America. Although, with Knott's Great America, you get the possibility for an awesome swirly k-leg. I'm looking forward to a ride that's not themed to either a Nickelodeon show or the latest craptastic blockbuster.
Tmcdllr Posted March 18, 2007 Posted March 18, 2007 I just hope they cram a good coaster or three in that park, at this point I do not care if they are themed or not and if they are going to be, none of this movie or tv stuff.
