BeemerBoy Posted January 31, 2007 Posted January 31, 2007 Okay, I meant to do this trip report, oh, about three months ago, but I just didn't really feel like it until now. Actually, Scott's (Scaparri's) TR about the hot chocolate inspired me to finally put it together. Anyway, enjoy. When I think of North Georgia, I naturally think of mountains, pickup trucks, NASCAR, and "the ATL". Well, now I can officially add high class wine vineyards. To my amazement, Shannon found about 10 different vineyards less than a couple hours east of us. With that discovery, and our appreciation for a good bottle of wine from time to time, of course it made perfect sense for a day's trip to Wolf Mountain Vineyard about a week before Halloween. Unfortunately, we were unable to take the half hour tour due to a wedding which was booked, but nevertheless, we still thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. The food was excellent, and the wine was surprisingly on par with many from more popular vineyards out west. Off we go..... And ended up with Mr. Skellington. Happy slightly belated Halloween, kids. I got medieval on it. A quick pic at the scenic overlook spot on the ride home. It took the leaves forever to turn this year.....stupid global warming! I hadn't carved one since God knows when. Even Reuben Studdard was there. You know you're in the south when Sheriff Buford T. Justice is walking around smoking a stogie. Honestly, do you really need a 50lb. pumpkin? Sh*t. Now where am I supposed to hide my bottle of Jack? Along the way, we stopped at Burt's Pumpkin farm. At least, I think that was the name of the place? Time to head home. Even the resident dog/wolf was enjoying the day. Mmmmmmmm. Here's looking at you, kid. Just look at the view a dollar can buy. Okay, we basically had our pick of tables...so I didn't have to part with that dollar afterall. Score! I slid the waiter a Washington, and look at the table we got. They're real, and they're spectacular. Um, the vineyard. By this time, I was hungry like the..... And this is where the ceremony would be held. Very nice choice, if I do say so myself. It was all set up for a wedding in the afternoon. The entrance. Not the biggest place in the world, but very nice. Our destination. Do you see Kick Boodie? No? Okay, let's keep moving. How you like them apples? First stop, one of the dozens of apple barns along the way. Shouldn't they be roaming? We picked a perfect fall day for a drive.
Satoshi Posted January 31, 2007 Posted January 31, 2007 thanks for your trip report! looks like this place is really good to take a long break, apart from roller coasters & theme parks or stressed things like jobs.....
PhishyBrewer Posted January 31, 2007 Posted January 31, 2007 Wine from Georgia... I don't know about that. I really don't trust anything from Georgia anymore ever since I went to Shoney's and mistaken fried okra for zucchini . Great photos though!!!
crazyrider06 Posted January 31, 2007 Posted January 31, 2007 Cool photo trip report, love the pics looks pretty neat.. I can so go for an apple
Jayjay719 Posted February 1, 2007 Posted February 1, 2007 That pumpkin is awesome! But now I want an apple!
Shavethewhales Posted February 1, 2007 Posted February 1, 2007 Honestly, do you really need a 50lb. pumpkin? Oh yes, you do. Imagine the possibilities...
BeemerBoy Posted February 1, 2007 Author Posted February 1, 2007 Wine from Georgia... I don't know about that. Yeah, trust me, I was really skeptical. Although it'll never come close to threatening my beloved Cakebread from Napa, it still wasn't half bad, considering where it's made, etc. etc. And thanks to all for the compliments on the pics, and the pumpkin. It took me a couple hours to carve, but I was pretty happy with the results. Also, I realized some of you may have been confused about the caption in the carnival pic. Here's Kick Boodie.
ginzo Posted February 2, 2007 Posted February 2, 2007 Is it possible to wander into a scene from Deliverance in northern Georgia?
ParkTrips Posted February 2, 2007 Posted February 2, 2007 Yes. But not today, because most of those hicks got 3-6" of snow with a nice layer of ice to go with it, so they are all huddled up in the double-wide having incestuous sex. WOW if that wasn't stereotyping I don't know what is..
Scaparri Posted February 2, 2007 Posted February 2, 2007 Awesome TR Scott. Those views are great, and the Sheriff pic is AWESOME! I want to watch Smokey and the Bandit now.
Nrthwnd Posted February 5, 2007 Posted February 5, 2007 Sherrif + Stogie = Priceless. Thanks for the report. Nice pumpkin, too. Better than I could ever make of one, heh heh.
