To me, B & M standup coasters are the most uncomfortable coaster to ride. Trying to standup straight, and when you think you are, your not. And those huge bicycle seats between your legs. Yikes! Hope there is no camel backs!

I wonder if standup trains can be swapped out for floorless trains.

It "could" be done... but wont. As the stand up coaster would be heartlined for a rider standing up.... If you put floorless/sitdown trains on the track the forces and heartlining would be off. as the "center" would now be at about your head where it should be in your heart.

In theory, wouldn't is be possible to make some special "elevated" floorless train to match the actual heartline from a standup? Of course, it would ruin the "argh, my feet are gonna hit the track any second now!" effect, but if stand-ups such as Iron Wolf has gone so bad as everyone says, it might just be worth it.

My first thought was also the "heartline" thing, but I don't figure that it would be that far off. The floorless trains are already elevated higher that the standard B&M looper.

// At least it feels like it.

I don't think heartlining would be too big of a deal in the case of most B&Ms. They don't do anything that is going to be very awkward for a sit down train. After all, though its not a B&M, there is a coaster at Yomiuriland that has both sit-down and stand up trains. Granted true, they don't negotiate the types of elements that B&Ms do, but the point is, I don't think the difference would be significant enough to notice.

However, the big issues would be weight. There is a lot more to a stand-up train than there is to a floorless. A stand-up coaster is designed for the weight of a stand-up, so a floorless train might not work so well. But who knows, maybe that is something that isn't as significant as I think. If it can be done with regular sit down trains on a Togo, maybe it can happen on B&Ms. Not that it ever will, but we can dream. .

I don't think regular B&M trains would work for Iron Wolf. I'm pretty sure the track width is different, same with the brakes. So, the trains would have to be editied a lot to work on Iron Wolf.

But, Iron Wolf would still have some of those really tight transitions that would still be rough with sit-down trains.

A few things.

1. I agree. I pretty much hate stand up coasters, with very few exceptions.

2. This topic pops up on every coaster message board once a month it seems.

3. No park has any real reason to spend money to switch out the trains, especially since most people seem to find the standup concept pretty cool.

4. Everytime this topic comes up, someone brings up the heartline issue. I don't know anything about it myself, but it doesn't seem to be like it would be much of a problem, and as Scaparri already pointed out, there is even a coaster that uses floorless and standup trains.

I think it would be cool to chang around a Inverted and a Flying Coaster train. Like imagine Batman The Ride with a flying coaster train. Although with the high G-Forces it probaly couldnt be done.

I'm one off those people, actually. My favorite stand-up thus far is Riddler's Revenge at SFMM, where long, swoopy, smoothish elements keep things pretty comfortable. But then, I don't have any major castration anxiety....

I have heard that, while working on Batman, the inverted trains were installed on Iron Wolf as a test (no, no-one would have ridden them!). This would lead me to believe that the track gauge is the same.
