boy_who_luvs_coasters Posted December 4, 2006 Posted December 4, 2006 I just got back about 1 hour ago from las vegas. The weekend was awesome. I went on Manhatten Express and Speed: The ride. I also went on the one at the adventuredome. My favorite one is Speed: The ride. I got a all day unlimited ride pass for the whole day i went on it i think 28 times. Then the ext day i went on it all morning intil about 1 then i stoped. The second day i went on it all morning i went on it 16 times. We were staying at the sarah at the hotel so thats how i went on it so much. Here's some math for everyone, but simple. Each ride goes up side down 2 times each ride. If i went on it 28 times, and if you X it by 2 becuase of one loop 2 times. 28 X 2 is 56. So 56 times up side down in one day. Plus Manhatten Express goes up side down twice also. So then day two i went on it 16 times. So 16 times to is 32. So add 56 and 32 is 88! So i went up side down 88 times! YAY!!! So I love Las Vegas it awesome!!!!!!!!!
DallasAlvey Posted December 4, 2006 Posted December 4, 2006 Sounds like fun, but I'm guessing that Manhatan Express wasn't as fun as the others. I'm sure Speed the ride was fun and so was the one in Adventure Dome. I noticed that you put Vegas is awesome it is awesome because you get to ride coasters, drink, and gamble. [execept if your not 21 oviesly]
KKAddict127 Posted December 4, 2006 Posted December 4, 2006 Yeah, is Manhattan Express any better since it got the Premier trains this past summer?
DallasAlvey Posted December 4, 2006 Posted December 4, 2006 ^ No it's not better. I rode it last summer and I got a head ake for hours.
iZak Posted December 5, 2006 Posted December 5, 2006 The trains are the same design as the Togo ones...Just newer. It's still the same painful ride.
bigjohnson51 Posted December 7, 2006 Posted December 7, 2006 are the las vegas parks open all year long?
iZak Posted December 7, 2006 Posted December 7, 2006 ^ Yes. Considering there is really only one, and it's indoors. All of the other rides and attractions are open year around (Speed, ME, Stratosphere, etc.) The only ride that has any real issues is Desperado. When there is even a slight breeze, the ride goes down. I guess that's what you get for a 12-year old Arrow Hyper...
bigjohnson51 Posted December 7, 2006 Posted December 7, 2006 thanks for the information, i might be going there for a longsnapping camp in jan.

I guess that's what you get for a 12-year old Arrow Hyper... yea, i stayed at Buffalo Bills for a week when they stormy weather, and Desperado was only open in the mornings if you were lucky

And it wasn't just breezy, it was pretty much about as windy as the rest of the west coast those past two days!
Mr Stratosphere Posted December 31, 2006 Posted December 31, 2006 If you want a ride that will not close in any weather, ride Speed: The Ride. I've seen the windiest days, stomy days with heavy rain and lightning and that thing is still running. Adventuredome is great..unless it rains, the dome leaks like crazy!!! They have to close the bumper cars for safety!! Some other rides close as well. I guess the dome is great for hot days..not rainy ones Yeah, Desperado is weird too because it is only open 5 days a week, unless it's a holiday week. The hours always change, and you have to wait for 10 passengers so you could be sitting around for a while.. If driving by and the shed door where the track enters the building is closed.......the ride is closed. But if you are really lucky they may have Turbo Drop open, and this one is still my favorite of the Turbo Drop towers. I've had some interesting things happen when I decide to ride the desperado. 1. Stuck on the mid course. Wait for engineering to drive there. (mid course is kinda far away from the station) and we had to walk down the staris..it was a hot day and there was a power outage. 2. Waiting in the station.. the power goes out, they just say the ride is closed for the rest of the day. 3. Decided to take some friends out there. We drive up, engineering is working on the mid course (air leak). Come up to ticketing and they said they should be opening in an hour, so we decided to wait. The ride attendants were falling asleep on the entrance stairs. Great touch. 3 hours go by and they said any time now. so we waited another hour and gave up. When we decided to leave driving home on I-15 they decided to finally test run the ride..Perfect waste of the day.. 4. Waiting in line and an attendant was drinking a soda at the control panel. He spills the soda all over the console so I report it to the manager and I got a so..what do you want me to do about it..so i left yet again.. John Who rode a roller coaster on Christmas Day..Man I love Vegas.. Manhattan Express (Today marks 1 year since the High Roller at the Stratosphere made its last circuit)
savemagicmountain Posted December 31, 2006 Posted December 31, 2006 I rode the high roller a couple of years ago. Why did they take it down?
Mr Stratosphere Posted December 31, 2006 Posted December 31, 2006 I don't know for sure, they were saying low ridership, out with the old, a new ride..so many things were going on about it, no one knows for sure
Ryan King Posted December 31, 2006 Posted December 31, 2006 I rode the high roller a couple of years ago. Why did they take it down? I think it was just getting older and worn down. The High Roller was a good ride..scared the crap out of me! But with thier new thrill attractions up there, i dont think the High Roller was getting that much attention anymore.. -Ryan
Satoshi Posted January 2, 2007 Posted January 2, 2007 that was kind of ride i wanted to give it a shot when i happened to know Stratosphere has an awesome stuff that makes 'em scream out. that was The High Roller and it only had some dips though.....
savemagicmountain Posted January 2, 2007 Posted January 2, 2007 In my opinion the high roller is the best ride that has been up on the stratosphere for re-ride value. I have been on all 4 rides and I admit x-scream scared the crap out of me but if you buy the "day pass" x-scream as well as insanity get old. I guess I see where their coming from because most of the people that go up only go to ride a few rides. I still think that without high roller they are truly missing a ride on the top, that is just my two cents.
