jedimaster1227 Posted December 3, 2006 Posted December 3, 2006 This weekend, Stephanie and I went back to Disney for some more fun. We hopped from Epcot to the Contemporary to the Magic Kingdom and finished at MGM. These photos chronicle our journey... All around the World Showcase, holiday displays were up. Photo ops were a plenty! No visit to Epcot is complete without a stop to say hey to Soren! Donald in his Three Caballeros outfit-a hint at the likely retheme happening during El Rio Del Tiempo's 4 month rehab. Along with the displays, came a brief story about the respective country's holiday origin. Wonders of Life is open! I found the hidden Mickey in the German train village. Did I miss you? I'm not sure! I can't believe it! This was one of the few working exhibits in the Sensory Funhouse... The old health-food restaurant is covered up...but, there is plenty of seating that anyone could use...too bad there isn't anyone here to use it... The old exhibit at the end of Body Wars in now covered up. Body Wars itself was definitely showing age in the ride, the films and the theming...It all seemed like it was falling apart... My bicycles are all covered up!!! No!!! Empty as usual... Not even the F in the Sensory Funhouse is working...

jedimaster1227 Posted December 4, 2006 Author Posted December 4, 2006 The next batch of photos continues with more of the Wonders of Life pavilion... I actually enjoyed it (me not being a show person)! It had some humor that was out of date, but the fact that I could pick it out made it even better. The show features a plethora of younger comedians that later became big. It was really good! I hadn't done Cranium Command since I was 5 years old, so I figured that I would give it a try... The exit to the pavilion has never looked so good... I remember I had a healthy hot dog here once...it was pretty bad. Maybe they closed the restaurant due to its bad hot dogs... Nice...the sign isn't even there... What the?!?! We passed on the Making of Me, considering we have both been through Sex Ed. enough... Frontiers? What Frontiers? Not even the old Coach's Corner was open...Now this is getting to be depressing... The old MetLife computers are still there, just not operating...big suprise... The pavilion's roof looks like the inside of the Vomit Comet...padded and dark... One of the few exhibits that suprised us... Lame exhibits... More of the Sensory Lamehouse...
YoshiFan Posted December 4, 2006 Posted December 4, 2006 Wonders of Life even looks to be in worse shape then it was when I was at Epcot 2 years ago. It seems like such a waste with so much of the pavillion broken or closed and it's very short operating time. I think it was the day before Christmas when I was there and even then there were less than a dozen people waiting for Body Wars.
jedimaster1227 Posted December 4, 2006 Author Posted December 4, 2006 Body Wars had a 0 minute wait time. In the queue, the old MetLife theming is still up, waiting to be removed (if it will ever be). Cranium Command had about 12 people waiting for it. Making of Me had two people watching.
BarryH Posted December 4, 2006 Posted December 4, 2006 Great pics! Â Wonders of Life looks pretty sad. Maybe it needs to be called "Not a Wonderful Wonders of Life?" Â I hope someone videotapes the Making of Me film and puts it on a "Lost Disney Attractions" DVD!

Homer Posted December 4, 2006 Posted December 4, 2006 Wow, I really liked Wonders of Life back in its heyday (last time I was in there was March 2000). Especially the bikes through DL. Â Its sad how Wonders of Life is falling apart already. I hope a new corporate sponsor, some new attractions, and some TLC heads over to that pavilion. Of course, I doubt that will ever happen. MEGA EDIT: According to Intercot, the pavilion is open now to January 1st, 2007. Making of Me had two people watching. Watching or ? Â
jedimaster1227 Posted December 5, 2006 Author Posted December 5, 2006 Here are the last of the Wonders of Life photos along with the Holiday Around the World lights and a visit to the Grand Floridian's famous Gingerbread House! I like these! Ooh! Pretty lights! Pretty rough compared to Star Tours... Poor show Disney...putting up a couple of banners signed by 5 year olds in place of an old exhibit... These weren't even working properly... Epcot's Holidays Around the World I (the Jew) was satisfied with this tree since it had a Happy Hannukah banner on it... Entering the light hall of joy! Very cool lights! Spaceship Earth looks pretty nice tonight (minus the wand)! We got to the Magic Kingdom at the end of the Christmas parade taping. That tiny white speck of a man in a tuxedo is actually Andrea Bocceli. He sounds pretty amazing in person! Everything you see here (except the sign) is edible. Robb, I believe one of your dreams has come true! Amazing detail huh? The man inside of the house is selling gingerbread shingles and candy. I bought a set of shingles for myself-just $6! The next morning, we traveled over to the Grand Floridian to see the famous Gingerbread House...

USRoadTripper Posted December 5, 2006 Posted December 5, 2006 It's really sad to see my pavilion in this shape I remember working at Body Wars on July 4th of 2000, and we had an hour wait! I'm actually really surprised to see the pavilion open in this shape also...it's very bad show in my opinion to have so many things boarded up and inoperative in a supposedly open pavilion. Â I also tend to agree with Beemer Boy that it looks like they are showing us what a pavilion that needs to be renovated looks like. In '99, after Horizons had been closed for quite a while, they opened it back up for a few months. The ride was in shambles...one of the IMAX screens wasn't working, the audio was so crackly that you couldn't understand it, and half the show scenes were practically falling apart. And when I left, I thought "Wow...I'd rather see the ride torn down and replaced with something awesome than to have it operating like this." Â Looks like I'm gonna feel that way about Wonders when I'm there next week. I'd much rather have a cutting edge new pavilion than to have the shell of a once-great pavilion. I'll miss it, but I think it's time has come. Â -Julie

After riding Body Wars, I was ready to ride Star Tours and compare the two... Next up, MGM Studios! No, these doors come out Delorean style! I really am missing the Timekeeper! (And Nine-Eye too...) I don't think that there will be fastpasses for the comedy club, considering that there is no fastpass sign installed anywhere near the show... Lovely...Monsters Inc. in Tomorrowland... I miss the Timekeeper!!! With a newer, larger and more decorated stage, more singers and dancers and a wider space to bring in other kids to dance, the show has become more like its California counterpart. Since the last time I was here, the High School Musical Pep Rally show has recieved some enhancements... Ooh! Nice blue repainted doors! The Monster's Inc. Laugh Floor Comedy Club is now being advertised... Lots and lots of options when it comes to giving Disney your money... Thats one giant Christmas tree! This place is famous!

It looks like the roof of the theater has been removed as natural light (or in this case dark) comes through. Midway Mania-here we come! Its a little hard to see but this is a construction sign from the inside of the old Who Wants to Be a Millionare theater. And the hidden Mickey in the display. And more... More amazing lights! Part of the amazing Osbourne Family Spectacle of Dancing Lights at MGM Studios. R2-D2! Forgot to add this, but here is an up close look at the updated High School Musical Pep Rally show.
YoshiFan Posted December 5, 2006 Posted December 5, 2006 I'm not surprised to see there is a High School Musical show now given it's popularity (my school district was one of 7 schools in the country to pilot it for their fall production and it sold out almost instantly which never happened in the history of the district), but I really think it looks out of place in Tomorrowland and should have been somewhere in MGM. That picture showed a huge crowd and I wonder how difficult it will be to walk through Tomorrowland while the show is going on especially at the end of the month when walking through the Magic Kingdom without a show like that in the middle of the area is difficult.
