munkyknum Posted November 20, 2006 Posted November 20, 2006 I was checking out your pictures very close to see if I was in any of them, I went to Beerfest on the same day as you. Then I scroll down and see where you were at the Gators game Saturday.. Are we following each other or something?
Meteornotes Posted November 20, 2006 Posted November 20, 2006 I thought I'd save the younger male enthusiasts the trouble of having to photoshop the "dude" from the picture by including one of just my girlfriend That is comedy gold. dt
DerekRx Posted November 20, 2006 Posted November 20, 2006 With Pabst and Bud Lite there proudly displayed, I can only wonder what the other breweries there were. Were there any local microbrews there, or was it all commercial stuff that you can buy at any nearby Publix?
munkyknum Posted November 20, 2006 Posted November 20, 2006 No, we left after the first score of the 4th quarter to try and beat traffic on the drive back to Lakeland. That's two UF games I've been to this year and both were blowouts (UCF & WC).
DerekRx Posted November 20, 2006 Posted November 20, 2006 The Orlando one was probably Orlando Brewing Partners, and one of the Tampa ones was most likely Tampa Bay Brewing. Don't know what other one could be there from Tampa, as I don't know of another brewery in Tampa since Ybor City Brewing was sold a few years ago, though possibly New World Brewing, if they're still opened. Cool that they had some local microbreweries representing, as they're pretty scarce in Florida to begin with.
munkyknum Posted November 21, 2006 Posted November 21, 2006 I was in section 19 and when we left it was still pretty full. Also had 2 tickets for section 45 that I was going to try and sell but it turned out to be more of a pain than anything else. I kept them as my backup tickets in case I didn't like who I was sitting by or whatever. I just got my 2 tickets to the SEC championship game in the mail so Dec. 2nd I'll be in Atlanta Go Gators.
gatorchomp83 Posted November 21, 2006 Posted November 21, 2006 I stayed til the end. Actually was one of the last out of the stadium. We wait 8 months a year for football, I'm gonna make every minute I can in a stadium count! And wow, can't believe you gave up tickets to the SCar game... You should have used the extra tickets to run across Univeristy at haftime to get more drinks in you and come back. That's what we did. Spent $70 in Sloppy Gator in about 10 minutes and headed back!
obeygiant Posted November 21, 2006 Posted November 21, 2006 I went to universal during beerfest...i saw people buying beer in the parks at NOON!!! And I will say I stayed AWAY from Citywalk at night during beerfest!
Erik Johnson Posted November 21, 2006 Posted November 21, 2006 Oh no! Not another Gainesville member...
munkyknum Posted November 21, 2006 Posted November 21, 2006 Alright, while this thread is alive and kicking I'm going to ask this question for next year. I do not go to UF and I'm lucky enough to have friends who are season ticket holders, I'm going to try and get some season tickets for next year. Now for the important question: Where is the best place to eat IN and AROUND Ben Hill Griffin Stadium? The past few times I've eaten at Newberry BBQ (I think) but I've heard people swear up and down about the "Swamp Dog". Help me UF TPR'ers

DallasAlvey Posted November 21, 2006 Posted November 21, 2006 ^ Wow that's a lot of beer. I wonder how many of those it would take to kill you.
DerekRx Posted November 21, 2006 Posted November 21, 2006 Wow, lots of stuff, but nothing really standout. I guess the best part about going is that when you got a buzz you can just wander over and ride Hulk, Dragons, or Mummy. Otherwise I'll stick with my beer festivals!
WadeJ Posted November 23, 2006 Posted November 23, 2006 Beerfest = Halloween Horror Nights That was my first thought to lol. However, I would think BeerFest is a whole lot more affordable. I think I spent upwards of 70 bucks my first night at HHN. Nice update. I might have to look this up next time.
