That was awesome. I don't know why but it looks kinda funny with all the "yellow people" walking around. Im guessing those were Disney ponchos?

Nice opening day photos of DLP. Its always cool to see retro photos and photos oif what looked like a wet but wonderful day at DLP. THe park looked good on its opening day! I think that's very rare!

That was great, sharing your opening year memories of the park.

 

I am just amazed at how (eventual) time allowed the foliage and landscaping to really 'frame' the whole park nicely, having been there in the last five years a couple of times, since that opening year. And enjoyed the landscaping as part of the park's appeal, itself.

 

Some parts of the park look so forlorn for trees and such. Eventually, everything "filled in" I know, heh heh.

DLP is the root of all evil. Its the reason why DLR never got the cool Space Port theme for the Tommarrowland make over, and a big factor into why WestCot was never built. The french did it to spite us. And now that those plans never happen, they finally decide to attend the park.

 

But it really does look like a beautiful park.

The brackets for the trim brakes on the "picture drop" before the second lift are there... but they're not installed! The airtime on that drop must have been amazing...

Awesome photos! Its always cool to see these retro pics, just seeing how the parks have changed or have stayed the same over the years. I personally have always liked the look of this park more than any other Disney park.
