OK - while I have enjoyed some of the flash sideways and thought some were filler, I just enjoyed to way they tied together characters in this one. I don't remember how Widmore said he lost his son. In the present, did he tell Desmond how he lost his son? I was not expecting a Desmond flash sideways.

The thing I dislike about this season the most is this sudden "war" between Smokey and Jacob that cropped up in the series 5 finale.

 

In and of itself, I don't have an issue with it. However, I don't find it as compelling as many of the mysteries the show has largely abandoned, more or less claiming them to be solved. (Almost everything about the Dharma Initiative, Ben's Others and their breeding program/contact with the mainland, Richard's 1950's Others/military presence/nuclear bomb.) We may now have enough information to figure out the broad strokes on a lot of that, but it's just not as viscerally satisfying as actually showing/explaining it. Sawyer and company in the 1970's was especially galling, because we still got almost no insight into what the Dharma Initiative was actually doing/trying to accomplish, and almost nothing shed any light on what we saw of their legacy on the island back in season 2.

 

It's all well and good to "focus on the characters." But is it really too much to ask to tie up the plot while you're at it?

Desmond running down Locke was awesome.

 

Ilana getting blown up with the dynamite was cool too.

 

I'm no brain surgeon, but I knew Locke would be throwing Desmond down the well as soon as they got close to it.

I really enjoyed the Willy Wonka voice over in the previews, it set a good tone.

I really do believe that we'll all be really happy with the final outcome. I don't think it will end Mega Piranha style!

Did anyone else hope that the sonic fence was on when Sun & Jin re-united between the posts? *bzzzzzzzzzt* and they both fry their brains. Useless characters.

^ I thought the same thing, I was cringing when they were running towards each other, I thought for sure they would get fried! Overall tonight's episode wasn't one of my favorites. Still entertaining. I'm looking forward to wrapping up the show, it's time for the show to come to a close.

I liked the symbolism of Jack jumping off the boat to freedom, similar to how Sawyer jumped out of the helicopter returning to the freighter 2 seasons ago.

WHAT. I swear to god, the last thing the producers could do to piss me off would be to kill off Jin and Sun. C'mon! They made the show sweet, and have some sort of genuine love story. I just hope they come back in the sideways flashes!
