havenli Posted October 3, 2006 Posted October 3, 2006 Not this weekend but next, I'm going up to Hershey, PA for fall break. It will be my first time ever at Hershey Park, which is only open during the evenings this time of year, and I was wondering if anyone knows which night would be best to visit (in terms of minimal crowds) - Friday or Saturday? Also, are there any "must-do" things in the area (other than the chocolate factory, which is given since I AM female, therefore slightly addicted to anything containing cocoa)? And on a totally unrelated note, I just found out yesterday that I got accepted into the Disney College Program and I'm in Operations! I figured I shohuld mention it, since this IS a theme park board and all...and one full of Disney Fanboys at that... Goll, I'm excited.
YoshiFan Posted October 4, 2006 Posted October 4, 2006 Friday night will probably be less crowded but I don't think it will be crowded either day. Hersheypark in The Dark generally doesn't get crowds because there are no Halloween events in the park (hanuted houses, walk throughs etc.) except for trick or treating for kids 12 and under.
SharkTums Posted October 4, 2006 Posted October 4, 2006 ^^Congrats! Make sure to tell us where you are so we can take Photo TR's with you, just like Soren!
Erik Johnson Posted October 4, 2006 Posted October 4, 2006 Have fun at Hershey's! We enjoyed the park. Make sure you get your free piece of candy after the Chocolate tour as well at the Reese Extreme Challenge. Oh, make sure you do not miss Storm Runner.
DerekRx Posted October 4, 2006 Posted October 4, 2006 If one night is opened later than the other, do that night instead. But otherwise, just stick with Friday night, but beware of the risk of rush hour traffic while trying to get there. Maybe leave a little earlier and do Chocolate World before the park opens. Between the Chocolate Tour, the 3D movie, and the Funfactory, you should have enough to keep you occupied for a good hour, plus you can grab food there too. Start off your night over at Storm Runner and work your way around clockwise from there, ending at Comet for the least amount of crowds. Be sure to check out the Extreme Cup Challenge, and look for the single rider line if there's any significant wait.
eddie200330 Posted October 4, 2006 Posted October 4, 2006 Either night is good, Herhsaypark is imo one of the best parks out there. Great rides and amazing atmosphere. sooperdooperLooper rocks!!!
havenli Posted October 4, 2006 Author Posted October 4, 2006 Thank you all for the park advice so far. I'm uber excited about Storm Runner - it will be my first sit-down Intamin (Volcano at PKD is my only other Intamin experience, and I loved it ever so much). Ahhh...a weekend fulla chocolate and roller coasters. Now I just need a chocolate covered roller coaster, and I'll be set. And thanks, Elissa! I won't be starting until January, so don't look for me any time soon, but once I find out where I'll be stationed at specifically, I'll let you know.
Hercules Posted October 4, 2006 Posted October 4, 2006 Like Derek said, do the day that is open the longest. It is very inexpensive for the Halloween thing that they have there and it is a great value. The lines will be minimal and Storm Runner might be a 15 minute wait at most. Congratulations on the Disney thing too!
ECZenith Posted October 4, 2006 Posted October 4, 2006 OMG... you don't even know what you're in for. Almost brings a tear to the eye...
Ccron10 Posted October 4, 2006 Posted October 4, 2006 You are going to have a GREAT time! With 10 coasters and some great rides, to me it's the best park I've ever went to. I think Friday would be a great day too. I'm interested on how the Boardwalk is coming along.
almightyfire Posted October 5, 2006 Posted October 5, 2006 i went there is aug just to ride storm runner and when it took off i said dayum but then it was ova in 30 secs. You think it is going somewhere when it goes into the bushes but it is right back at the station. BIG DISAPPOINTMENT. If you are looking for thrills you wont find much there but it is a very beautiful and clean park. I went to Great Adventure the same day and it was like apples and oranges. Hershey didnt have not one piece of paper on the ground and Ga was totaly filthy.
almightyfire Posted October 5, 2006 Posted October 5, 2006 The dueling coaster was the best thrill in the park for me.
redfoot12 Posted October 5, 2006 Posted October 5, 2006 If you drive through Richmond, Va pick me up. I need 10 Hershey credits. Oooo, then we could meet up with Hercules at Dorney on Sunday.
