dylang Posted September 23, 2006 Posted September 23, 2006 When on the Silver Star, is the view incredible going up the lift? And did you get scared the first time going on?
thomas2 Posted September 23, 2006 Posted September 23, 2006 The view going up is amazing! You get to see the flat land of Baden Wurttemberg with all it's little villages scattered across the land. In the distance are the hills of the Black Forest. Too bad you don't see anything of the park. Alot of people also complain that SS is an parking lot coaster, but I'm not bothered by that. The fact that everything around SS is flat (parking) even makes it look bigger and deeper. The very first time (front row) I wasn't scared, I was just soo excited to finally ride Europe's highest coaster and it truly was a great experience.
dylang Posted September 23, 2006 Author Posted September 23, 2006 Isn't it also B&M's tallest coaster ever made?
SharkTums Posted September 23, 2006 Posted September 23, 2006 I do believe it is B&M's tallest, and I'd disagree that the view is 'amazing'. Sure it's nice, but there is a whole lot of parking lot!
thomas2 Posted September 23, 2006 Posted September 23, 2006 Yes it is the heighest coaster ever built by B&M altough Nitro is faster (80mph <=> 78.9mph) http://www.rcdb.com/installationresult.htm?coastername=&parkname=&type=&status=&design=&category=&contact=1&location=0&column=1%2C10%2C30%2C3%2C26%2C4%2C5&order=-11%2C1%2C2&search=Search
dylang Posted September 23, 2006 Author Posted September 23, 2006 I think Silver Star beats Nitro by 10 feet in hight, but how is Nitro faster. Could it be the steepness? Is Nitro steeper then the Silver Star?
NitroRider Posted September 23, 2006 Posted September 23, 2006 Suprisingly the drop is bigger and steeper. http://www.rcdb.com/id1414.htm
viking86 Posted September 23, 2006 Posted September 23, 2006 ^^^^Please fix that link! Its way too long! You can not always trust the statistics found on RCDB. And the speed changes all the time depending on weather, temperature, etc.....
RCfanatic Posted September 23, 2006 Posted September 23, 2006 Maybe Silver Star's trims have something to do with the slower speeds?
thomas2 Posted September 23, 2006 Posted September 23, 2006 Yeah it's really strange that Silver Star is slower yet it's higher and steeper. Really strange Maybe Silver Star's trims have something to do with the slower speeds? But there aren't any trims on the first drop...
SharkTums Posted September 23, 2006 Posted September 23, 2006 Keep in mind, Steeper does not always equal FASTER!
NitroRider Posted September 23, 2006 Posted September 23, 2006 Maybe they made the trains lighter somehow? Or there are just less fat people in Germany than the US
