CoasterFanatic Posted April 19, 2005 Posted April 19, 2005 If you haven't bid on any of the RideWorld sponsored auctions, now is the time. I have donated a rare piece of coaster history to one of the auctions, and encourage anyone that is interested to place their bids today. Ebay Auction #6526350632 Steel Phantom Horsecollar This piece along with 2 tickets to Kennywood (donated by RideWorld.com) are up for auction until Apr-24-05 20:00:00 PDT. All proceeds from this and all the other RideWorld auctions are to benefit Tim Getchell, a RideWorld member and coaster enthusiast that was recently diagnosed with cancer. robbalvey Posted April 19, 2005 Posted April 19, 2005 ^ I think you can still see some blood near the top of the restraint! --Robb "Just kidding, of course!" Alvey
CoasterFanatic Posted April 19, 2005 Author Posted April 19, 2005 ^ It's kind of funny that I thought the same thing. When I first got this thing, I was wondering the following: "How many times has my OWN head bashed against this restraint" and "How much brain damage is this thing responsible for"
Carnage Posted April 19, 2005 Posted April 19, 2005 I don't even want to imagine how much I'd get nailed for shipping to Canada on that thing. Not too mention what duties and taxes customs would charge me. Escpecially considering that they have full right to charge you taxes and duties on the value that they feel the item is worth. I can just see the dollar signs spinning behind the custom's officer's eyes who opens up that package.
Three Posted April 19, 2005 Posted April 19, 2005 I think it'd be funny to buy that thing and wear it on rides that used to have horsecollars, but switched to lap bars. Like FoF or Poltergeist....
SharkTums Posted April 19, 2005 Posted April 19, 2005 That's a great piece! I encourage everyone to go out and bid on it! Elissa "I think I see my ear impression on it!" Alvey
CoasterFanatic Posted April 20, 2005 Author Posted April 20, 2005 I don't even want to imagine how much I'd get nailed for shipping to Canada on that thing. If you win Paul, I don't imagine it would cost anything. I am sure I will run into you some time this summer.
ScottBrown Posted May 20, 2005 Posted May 20, 2005 Well I got it and I see no Blood from Robb or imprints from Elissa =( Scott "Damn I could have had Alvey DNA and cloned him" Brown
CoasterFanatic Posted May 21, 2005 Author Posted May 21, 2005 ^ Congratulations. How did you like my wrapping job? Those things are so awkward that I couldn't think of anything better than laying it on a piece of cardboard and wrapping a roll pf packaging tape around it. Anyway ... I am sure that Tim will be very grateful for the help.
ScottBrown Posted May 21, 2005 Posted May 21, 2005 Yeah that wraping job was pretty clever It's kind of funny I have a Preimer OSTR as well and the Arrow one looks so flimsy next to it. Scott " Ready for a B&M one now" Brown
ChrisFL Posted May 21, 2005 Posted May 21, 2005 I think it'd be funny to buy that thing and wear it on rides that used to have horsecollars, but switched to lap bars. Like FoF or Poltergeist.... that is funny. That gives me another idea. They should sell t-shirts with what looks like a horsecollar on it. Maybe a new TPR shirt?
CoasterFanatic Posted May 21, 2005 Author Posted May 21, 2005 Scott " Ready for a B&M one now" That one might be a little harder to come by. They typically don't tear down or retrofit B&Ms.
ChrisFL Posted May 21, 2005 Posted May 21, 2005 Scott " Ready for a B&M one now" That one might be a little harder to come by. They typically don't tear down or retrofit B&Ms. 2 words: Drachen Fyre
ScottBrown Posted May 21, 2005 Posted May 21, 2005 If you are refering to Drachen Fire that once was at BGV that was an Arrow it was planned to be a B&M buit they were unable to do it as they were still in their infancy
ChrisFL Posted May 21, 2005 Posted May 21, 2005 If you are refering to Drachen Fire that once was at BGV that was an Arrow it was planned to be a B&M buit they were unable to do it as they were still in their infancy hm, I always thought it was a B&M
Guest Posted May 21, 2005 Posted May 21, 2005 hm, I always thought it was a B&M Nope an old defunt, scrapped Arrow. Katie
ScottBrown Posted May 21, 2005 Posted May 21, 2005 Which is kind of sad while it may have been rough the layout was incredible
Jew Posted May 22, 2005 Posted May 22, 2005 They typically don't tear down or retrofit B&Ms. They do have to replace the OTSR's though.
coaster1 Posted May 22, 2005 Posted May 22, 2005 Drachen Fire was a decent ride, although heard it got even worse .. Wish I had the chance to ride before the removed the first corkscrew however .. I rode the new "nuetered" version .. still a decent ride, just not top 10
