From the days of Acid Wash jeans, Members-Only Jackets and mullets, I bring you this fine Retro TR.

While on a Spring Training (Reds in Plant City) trip back in 1988 (Pretty sure about that one), my Dad and i paid a visit to Epcot. my dad has never really been the theme park type, but I guess he thought that this one would be different. It was! And the end, he really enjoyed the park.

WARNING: Accidental fashion in the following photographs!

We started the day bright and early with breakfast at Buddy Freddies in Plant City.

My dad is a huge golf fan, so he instantly fell in love with Epcots iconic geosphere.

"Ted ... get a picture of me next to this big golfball!"

Our first stop was Living Seas and Sea Base Alpha. I believe that this attraction was relatively new at the time and it took us about 45 minutes to get on the sea cabs.

Ouch. Check out that outfit! Standing in front of the original Journey into Imagination.

Getting ready to watch MJ battle evil with the power of music.

A random picture of Pops in front of some random statue.

Holy crap! Mickey! Gotsta get me a picture with the big man. Maybe he will sign my mullet.

Too cool for school.

Father and son posing in front of the World Showcase. My dad isn't very big on travelling, so he was glad to know that he would get a chance to see the world without going overseas.

We stopped in Germany to check out some of Soren's relatives rocking out.

Inside of World of Motion, they had all kinds of high-tech cutting edge whips. Take this 1989 Riviera for example.

From my best guess, my dad shot this from the World of Motion ride. Yay. I even have proof!

Thanks for reading. More Retro TRs to come!

Oh my god what are those people wearing!? AAH! My sense of fashion...it's ruined...now I only see things in neon spandex!

Epcot seems like it was really boring in the 80's.

AHHHHHHHHHHHHHH! IT BURNS!

The acid wash...the mullet...the shoes! It's all too much!

Ok, I owned all of that myself, it's just scary looking at it again.

At least you didn't have a rat tail. That was the worst thing invented in the 80's.

I need to scan some of my mullet pics and scare the crap out of all of you. lol

I love that the Riviera had a dent in the door.

Nice TR Ted.

^ I don't see anything wrong with wearing a green and white strip shirt.

By the way, are you the only member left ?

I'm not sure if I like the Epcot pictures better or the picture of the BK'S

I admit, I too had the jacket and the shoes at one point in my childhood.

I was a "Member" as well. Only mine was maroon or, black depending on the coolness level I felt like selecting that morning.

And no, EPCOT was not boring in the 80's, it was much better than it is now. There weren't all these ridiculous thrill rides.

Look at that dude sitting down with the all pink outfit!

I totally missed that too. The woman next to him is all "I know it's the 80's, but what are you doing wearing that outfit!!!"

Also notice that the statue behind looks a little gay as well. I didn't know Disney knew crotches existed.

This stuff is simply classic. I can honestly say I was never a "member," although there was plenty more that made up for it, unfortunately. I also agree that EPCOT was much better back then, than it is now.

Don't get me wrong, it's still one of my top 3 parks to visit, but back then it didn't have to succumb to lame Pixar tie-ins, etc.. It took a huge chance at being a "permanent World's Fair," and I think all of us who visited it in those days still appreciate that.

Anyway, great job, Ted. I'm also looking forward to embarrassing myself "retro-style" as well.

Unfortunatley we was po back then and couldn't afford $100 Members Only jackets. lol

I remember when Air Jordans came out and couldn't believe anyone would pay that much for a sneeker.

And then kids started shooting each other over then.

True dat. It has lost some of the magic, but it does remain one of my favorite parks.

The biggest difference now is ... my dad loved it back then, but I am not quite sure how much he would dig it now.

I can honestly say I was never a "member,"

I was never actually a "member" either. My dad provided me with a guest membership for the day.

Great Classic TR , Ted!

That guy in the pink is scarey! When i first saw that, i was like: Dang, look at that ugly lady with her nipple showing. the horror... the horror...

How many guys wearing those funky orange Krokus jumpsuits did you see that day?

The eighties shall live forever! Saw a girl totally rocking the side ponytail the other day. Dear God help us all! Interesting Photo TR, by the way. I love seeing these retro reports.

I never got to rock out in BK's. Poor me, I settled for Avias, are they still around? I remember my Mom freaking out because Air Jordans were $50!!!

I'm loving' all these retro TPR's, it's fun to see what has changed, and what hasn't.
