Just realized that Hayabusa, The Arrow suspended coaster at Tokyo Summerland closed earlier this year. http://www.rcdb.com/id1203.htm

I searched and never found anything on this, so just letting you know.

Another Arrow suspended gone.

Wow, that sucks. I had not hear that it was "closed for good." I'm bummed as I really liked it. It wasn't amazing, but it was fun.

Oh well.....

I´ve ridden that during my first tokyo trip at the end of 92. It was heavily advertised back then. I thought it was great back then. But on my first trip to japan i found the most mundane things amazing. I think in retrospect it was just an okay ride.

Sad Hayabusa closed. Any more info on that accident last year?

Regarding Eagle Fortress at Everland in South Korea. Anyone got any infos on it? RCDB only list its length and speed. It also mention its a terrain coaster.

I wonder how many of these rides will be left in a few years. It seems like they are either being scrapped (XLR8) or they are chaning the ride with the new Vekoma trains (Vampire, and Dreamcatcher even though Dreamcatcher was a Vekoma). I hope BBW stays around for a while because I have always wanted to try a suspended coaster but at this rate, that may not happen.

Strangely enough I rode Hayabusa with gregleg the same day of the accident. I think it was still running when we left just after lunch but the accident occured within a few hours of us leaving the park. Greg got an e-mail that night from rollermonkey mentioning the accident. Then the next day we saw footage on Japanese TV. Apparently a support wire snapped and hit a rider. Hardly catastrophic by US standards but in Japan it's enough to close a ride forever. Maybe the ride could be sold. It looked to be in great shape and its a fun ride.

A very said day indeed. Suspendeds are such a rare breed that losing even one is a bad deal. With todays technology, I'm amazed that they've not redeveloped the rides themselves- a new version of the classic suspended coaster would work very well at a few different parks I know of.

Woops! Sorry, I knew about this, and I think I passed it to Screamscape a while back. It was a good ride, but I still think PCW's Vortex is the best of the breed. (Eagle Fortress is the only one missing from my 'collection'.)

Sad news indeed. I really like these rides (PKI's Top Gun is in my top 10), and I'm also a bit surprised that no one else has really run with the idea. I still don't think that anyone has even come close to fulfilling the suspended coaster's potential, in terms of layout and ride experience.

I need to get on some more Suspended coasters before they all dissapear. Sadly, I've only been on Iron Dragon... I'd love to go on a bigger version of a Suspended coaster. I'm planning on going to BGW next year to hit up the new ride, so I'd definatly get on Big Bad Wolf.

When I was 11 I loved Iron Dragon, so I should love a larger Suspended coaster.
