XLRBR
Alrighty...I'm heading over to Ohio on the night of the 14th, and on the fifteenth, we're going to Cedar Point. Any suggestions on like anything really? I need all the help I can get and I know you're the ones to ask! And I know I've probably asked this before, but this time we're officially going! robbalvey
I'm going to move this to the main board since we haven't been there in 3 years and other people might know what the current best plan for the park is. My guess would still be to get there EARLY and run to TTD! Do they offer any "fastpass" type of system anymore? --Robb
Rollerholden
Do they offer any "fastpass" type of system anymore? --Robb Nope. I reccomend doing MF first at 9:30 when they drop the rope, and then go to TTD since TTD doesn't open until after 10 anyways.
FlyingScooter
Hit MF first, followed by TTD. EVerything after that is usually not too bad of a wait. From what i've been hearing lately, the park starts clearing out around 6-6:30, so that should help with later rides.
pianojohn
I thought they still had the Freeway (Fast Pass) system at the park, but according to the Cedar Point website: Since Cedar Point has more rides than any other park, and is capable of accommodating more guests per hour than any other park in the world, it was decided that the Freeway system was not necessary. Elimination of Freeway also results in a level playing field where all guests are treated equally and no one receives special privileges. Wow, I was not aware they got rid of this. Here are some of my tips: If Mantis is still only running one train (they were last year I believe), the line can be long and slow moving. Like everyone else said, RUN to TTD then run over to MF for an early ride before it gets a long line. If you see more than one train on Mantis, then ride it later. If not, get that credit out of the way too. I really like the Midway Market restaurant for several reasons. First, it's all you can eat, and if you make it your one big meal, you should be good the rest of the day with just snacks. It is also sit down and air conditioned. And finally, if I remember it correctly, it is a little cheaper to eat lunch there than dinner. (lunch is 11-3 dinner is 3-close) The website for Cedar Point has tons of info, so you may want to spend an hour or so looking it over. If you have other questions that aren't answered there, then ask away! I will be there on Friday Sept 1st! Woo hoo!
CP_RULES
If Mantis is still only running one train (they were last year I believe), the line can be long and slow moving. The last two years I have been it has been running atleast two trains. Come to think of it, it might have been running all three.... Anyways, something no one has said yet: you need to get on Raptor quickly. Both times I went to CP I had to wait in upwards of 1 1/2 hours to get on this beast. Calvin
Oh but the wait is so worth it. But yeah, the queue gets huge fast, and stays like that. I seem to remember that around lunchtime the queue gets shorter, because when I rode it at 12:30 or so I only waited ten minutes, but that might have just been a stroke of luck. Astat
^ I don't think Mantis has ever run all 3 trains, the 3rd has been sitting under a tarp beneath the brakerun pretty much ever since it opened. But yeah, I think I'm going on the 15th too, and advice...don't even bother riding Raptor in the morning, the line is ridiculous with it being right at the front. I usually hit all the coasters on the right side of the park first (Wicked Twister, Corkscrew, Magnum, Gemini) and work my way around, since most people are either at Raptor, MF, or Dragster in the morning. Darien Laker
I was there for my first time Sunday and Monday of this week. I miss it now . Anyway, the only long lines I noticed were MF, TTF, and Raptor, all of which were at least 45 minutes the whole time. All were running maximum trains (no suprise there), and the lines moved fast. Mantis's wait was the only other semi-long one, and that never got to more than half an hour. And yes, the third train was sitting in pieces....but I could imagine how bad it would stack if they used it. A lot of good coasters (Magnum, Blue Streak, Gemini, Wicked Twister, Wild Cat), didn't have waits of over 15 minutes the whole trip. I love Cedar Point's operations! Even that little Corkscrew had three trains going.
Rollerholden
I love Cedar Point's operations! Even that little Corkscrew had three trains going. Haha and was it double stacking your trip too? I thought Iron Dragon had the best operations for having all 3 trains on it.
XLRBR
So...do I ride MF first, TTD first, or the right side coasters as Astat said?
Rollerholden
^We always did MF first (you can get on it at 9:30, while TTD opens at 10 at the earliest).
08stien
Ride Millennium first. Millennium has had terrible copacity after the seatbelt debaucal and lines will be longer for it than Dragster all day(if Dragster doesn't break down). Sunday I rode Millennium at 11 and it had about an hour wait, while Dragster we rode 4 times during the day and never waited more than 25min. If Dragster runs well like it has been all season, it has the best copacity in the park.
XLRBR
Auesome (lol)...Thanks guys this really does help.
pianojohn
If Dragster runs well like it has been all season, it has the best copacity in the park. Hmm, I am going to have to disagree with you on that. Best capacity for all of the rides is the train. And as far as coasters, Gemini really handles a lot of people per hour. I don't think they use all 6 trains, but even with 4 you still get on in no time. Add to this Gemini holds 30 people per train while Dragster does 18 per train. According to rcdb.com, capacity for Dragster is 1500 riders per hour and for Gemini 3300 riders per hour.
CoasterFanatic
Like most people have said, try to get TTC and Millennium Force in the morning. You may also find some reasonable waits on them in the early evening (6pm or so) but don't count on it. Mantis can be a nightmare if you catch it at the wrong time. If you see a short line ... get on it. I am not one of those "Ride Raptor Early" people. I would suggest waiting until mid to late afternoon. People tend to fill the queues early because of it's location close to the main gate. For food, I would recommend a sit down joint. You won't spend much more money and it will be a nice break. Famous Daves and Macaronis would be my suggestions. I have NEVER gotten a good meal at the TGIFridays in the Breakers. Hope this was of some assistance. I am not the best person to ask about this mostly because I rarely visit the park in June, July and August.
