  1. Hey Larry, just a heads up. The Jet Blue True Blue Program was relaunched in October. The points system is different, points no longer expire with or without the jet blue card. You have to make a choice on what to do with your old true blue points. A. Free Magazines... B. Buy Enough old Points from True Blue for either a one way or round trip (your choice) C. Tell Jet Blue to convert new points you earn in the future to old points , all though this is usually the least advantageous way to go. I have the Jet Blue Card By the way.. Very Happy with it.. Another card to mention for high spenders, is the American Platinum Charge Card .. It's $495 a year but if you travel frequently it pays for itself.. For instance we are at the Portofino Bay Hotel at Universal- Through the platinum "fine hotels program" We paid $100 less a night than the lowes posted rate, were upgraded to a suite for free, received full breakfasts each day and access to their club lounge, and received a $100 credit towards any food and drink expenses... So in this one trip that annual fee practically paid for itself. Also they double all manufacturers warranties. So if this Mac breaks after the original warranty expires, american express will fix it and I didn't have to pay $179 for AppleCare. If anyone has any specific questions about cards.. Please let me know!
  2. We were at IOA today... Although my management experience tells me a March 1st soft opening is impossible, we counted nearly a hundred workers on site today... Banisters were added to the castle, the reworked rock facade had a worker in a cherry picker throwing dirt colored cement at it to add to the realism. Hogsmeade sign was fully covered with black trash bags. The amount of progress in the past two days has been incredible from a project management angle. I'l take a bunch of photos tomorrow. Anyone think bringing a DSLR on Dueling Dragons is a bad idea(Ride ops today didn't mind me taping with my iphone and I asked ahead of time)? The view of progress from that angle of Hogsmeade is incredible..
  3. Are you serious? All this time I thought this was the theme park Huffington Post.. I'm canceling my subscription...... Chris "no one will get that reference " Con
  4. Incidentally, my "entry" was not mine. It was a Microsoft paint bastardizing of another members entry.... Just want to give credit where credit is do.. Also MS Paint is the best graphic design program available.. Now we return to your regular program already in progress...
  5. Associated Press - Dateline January 13, 2010 In a suprise move, CEO of Wonderbread Inc. Jeff Johson, has anounced that Wonderbread LCC will be the official sponsor of the former Test Track ride at Epcot. The new name of the new ride will be "Test Kitchen". Guests will experience the test and adjust experience each loaf goes through before becoming WB Approved. Some of the highlights include, high temperature baking, spraying with mistery perservatives, cuminating in a 60 mph ride through packaging process. Local Citizen "Horizons" is quoted as "Shedding a Tear Over The Death Epcot".
  6. Cliff notes: If you aren't a gourmad the deluxe plan isn't for you.. If you aren't a person that enjoys sit down meals everynight the regular plan isn't for you. If you aren't a person that cares about eating, other than for susitence and energy the quick service plan isn't for you.. Fin
  7. The only way to really enjoy the deluxe dining plan is as follows... Eat a full sit down breakfast at your resort and you can do the Charachter dining if thats your thing. Then use the follow two table service credits each night to eat a a Signature restaurant (California Grill, Yachtsman Steakhouse, Boma, Artist Point). This allows you to eat at Disneys finest restaurants each night for dinner as well as having a really nice breakfast every morning. Using the deluxe plan in any other manner, you will end up with a heart attack or wasting your money. We enjoy fine dining at Disney, but still have never gone for this plan, mainly because it becomes a huge time waster. If you are interested in the Signature restaurants at night and Charachter breakfasts during the morning this is the only way that program will save you money.
  8. Great photos.. Makes me wish I was on a cruise right now. Surpised you guys aren't on Oasis of the Seas? Happy Birthday! Chris "only on my sixth long island iced tea" Con
  9. I really like the above design. My concern is that is looks generic. It almost looks like something I could make if I used a card design program. It's a great design, but something about it looks "templateish".. Chris "likes to make up words" Con
  10. Staying on property is a definite. You will need a method of transportation to Seaworld and Universal. The most cost effective way is to rent a car for the two or three days you will need it. Cars can be rented through Alamo at the "Car Care Center" near magic kingdom as well as at the Swan and Dolphin Hotel. You can take a taxi to either one of those locations or you could walk to the Swan and Dolphin from DHS. The walk is a bout 8/10 of a mile. Alternatively you could rent a car at the Orlando Airport but then you will be paying for the days you don't need it.
  11. Interesting post, I think I saw something about this on BSR (Bear Show Review). I've never heard of this attrraction or the aformentioned show. Any chance you have photos or videos? I think Donkeys are ok, but I'm a bear enthusiast at heart.
  12. Hey N7, I really like the new logo. It might just be me, but the logo appears to be to close to the red and blue areas of your design. I'm also wondering how a curved logo would look taking up more of the black area of the card. Keep up the good work man. I'm a fan of your designs.
  13. Hey Creative Force... I hope you don't mind me giving me .02 on this topic even though I'm not an Alvey.... For starters.. You plan to charge 5k -7k on this card a year (and of course pay it off in full every month or the interest far outweighs the rewards). If that is your target spend a year you have to get a card with no annual fee. The reason being is at 1 percent rewards it would take a card with a $50.00 annual fee $5000.00 in spend to break even. That being said there are numerous cards that will give you a precise 1 percent cashback with no annual fee including my favorite in this area the Amex Blue Card. There are numerous ways for you to obtain more than 1 percent back, but with your expected spend most airline cards won't be advantageous for you. I'd look towards some of the Discover card products that offer up to 5 percent cashback on gift certificates at popular retailers. If that interests you please let me know and I'll give you details. If you can spend 20k a year on a card that opens up a whole new realm of choices, The Starwood Card is considered one of the best travel cards. American Airlines Visa may also be a great choice depending on how you travel. If you care to elaborate on how you use your credit card as well as how you travel I can give you a lot more feedback. Flyertalk is a great site as well with active forums on this topic.
  14. I'm reminded of the book "Disney War". The book essentially begins with explaining how the top execs have to spend a day dressed up as one of the charachters to try and understand what Disney is about from every level. This chapter in the book discusses Eisners day as well as the authors. This press release while encouraging, seems like a bit of posturing and reminds me ominously of that passage.
  15. I doubt anyone can give you a cut and dry choice between the two. I'll try to list the benefits of each Cali-The flight and flying time should be significantly cheaper and shorter. If staying in Anaheim the hotel should be cheaper than staying on property at WDW. You get to experience the original Magic Kingdom with the most rides. With in driving distance you have arguably the best Six Flags as well as the only Universal Studios with a real working studio. Seaworld, Knots, Legoland are also there for you as well. Florida- The most comprehensive Disney venue in the world with a true resort atmosphere. Islands of Adventure (possible the best themed parke next to Disneysea) and Universal Studios are close by. Seaworld Orlando, numerous waterparks and I4 are all there. Orlando is going to have all these attractions in a much more compact area. The resort experience is going to be incomparable to anything you will find on the west coast. In my experience the optimal time to visit both of these areas is late August through September(when school starts in the US) as well as January (after the busiest holiday season).
  16. Effort into a press release? The true cost of releasing a press release is the back end cost of paying your pr staff.. Utilities, insurance, salaries, etc. Actual cost of creating a press release without graphics or photos is essentially 0. You type up a press release in word, convert to pdf, then upload it to any of the numerous PR wire services. If you require photos its graphic designer or photog fees. After that you speak with your media contacts to push the article in an editorial format (convince someone to write a newspaper article based on the press release). Edit on meteornotes: If your lawyers work on retainer with prepaid fees this isn't a cost.. If that isn't the case, than excellent point.
  17. Rolling Thunder at SFGA. I arrived at the park around noon with the sun high in the sky and assumed rolling thunder was just a shadow caused by El Toro.
  18. Something tells me that an 8 day rehab isn't enough to remove all GM branding. TFT Screens on the cars, license plates, drywall with logos, and even those huge faded banners outside would all have to be changed. On my recent disney trip a busdriver told me that Oldsmobile and WonderBread are currently in a bidding war to take over sponsorship. Anyone heard more?
  19. Supertrooper, I was just thinking about your old design and how I would change it. This one looks great.. Nice changes
  20. I don't claim to be a graphic designer, but there are certain fonts I've found to appear very kenetic or work well in logos; Copper Plate Gothic comes to mind. That font is definitely not TPR though. I'm thinking about a lot of the fonts graphic designers seem to skip over, some of the more "fun" fonts like gadzoox or on a more basic level, fonts like impact or comic. Anyways feel free to flame, I don't claim to have any experience in this. I guess what I mean is most graphic designers probably have little experience using gadzoox, which might actually make the designers better and cause them to think out of the box. One of the great things about TPR's branding is you have a font that screams TPR. You have created a brand that one can immediately recognize. At a park you could identify a TPR shirt from 100s of feet away. Wes, as a graphic designer, I was thinking you might want to give you opinion on removing things like "member name" or "location" since they busy up the design and with the better designs people have removed this already. Obviously Anaheim, CA is a location and doesn't need to read "LOCATION Anahaiem, CA"
  21. With names, make sure you leave lots of room for characters. My name sounds fairly common "Christian Connolly" and takes up 17 Characters.. Many cheap debit cards and the like can only support 16 characters.
  22. From a branding stand point, black is as much a part of the TPR brand as the RGB logo. Gadzoox is a font I would never use with my companies, but TPR makes it work and makes it memorable. I think that the Gadzoox font is the biggest obstacle for these designers as well as incorporating the three colors that are contradictory. I would definitely go with a a black card. For credit cards, black represents a level above platinum. For fashion it's the color that is supposed to work with all others. For a simpler reason, its your current background. Just my thoughts, sorry about the joke entry before. I thought it was funny, need to work on my humor I guess. Chris "always bet on black" Con
