  1. I'm with you on the quick change of directions on the newer Intamins (or QDCs as someone so elegantly coined it on the TPR Facebook Page awhile back). Just not a fan of them. Although, overall I really enjoyed Maverick, I could do without those transitions. You've got a great memory. It was me that called it QDC - quick direction changes. Soft restraints on Maverick would help too (like I305).
  2. I'm sorry for not back reading, but what exactly do you not like about the ride? Steve, I'm not a fan. I've ridden it 10 times in the past several weeks, and this last ride yesterday was the best. I keep riding it to try to like it. I find it rough for a ride less than a month old. I guess it boils down to the fact that I'm not a fan of the new Intamin coasters. I'm just a B&M and GCI fan. The first one I didn't like was Maverick, I305 and now Sky Rush. It's the quick direction changes of the first two named at high speeds. Don't get me wrong, I do like many other Intamin rides. I don't mind Cheetah Hunt at Busch Tampa since it's slower and not painful. I find SR more vertically rough. The outside seats are really amplified by the "springboard effect." I'm always a single rider so most of the time, I'm stuck on the outside. I love to ride with my arms up in the air, and I rode SR that way. I normally love having my body tossed around and abused by the ride, but this one isn't enjoyable for me. I love Lightning Racer, Fahrenheit, and even Storm Runner at the park. I can do and have done 15 - 30 reps on Lightning Racer a day. I only ride the Lightning side. That's just my opinion, I know others love it. I won't be clogging up the queue line for this one.
  3. Strange thing happened today at Hershey around 2pm. At least 1/2 of all the rides stopped. I could only see 1/2 the park from where I was at. Even the water park stopped. The power to the stores stayed on, so they could still sell stuff. It wasn't weather related, the sky was clear and sunny. It must have been some major circuit breaker trip / fault somewhere. It was out for maybe 20 minutes then back to business which was fine with me. I rode Sky Rush first thing again this morning just a little past 10. They're still running just 1 train, and the same is true for the past 2 days with StormRunner. I was last row left inside and didn't hate the ride. I guess I'm not a big fan of new Intamin's, and this fits that statement. That will be my last Sky Rush comment. I guess I should cut some cheese to go with my whine.
  4. Steve I agree. To me it seems more efficient with 1 train. I can't see into the train garage to see if anything is happening in there.
  5. ^^ Amen Shawn. I'll call her the "ice queen" since she speaks to nobody including most employees. I was at media day for Superman. They had an ice podium that was melting in the sun as she was speaking. The mic even fell in, so they had to bring out another mic. She is the polar opposite of Jay Thomas. This place really misses him...
  6. They fixed the clock this afternoon on the Sky Rush building. The ride needs some work... One train, but good dispatches. Tomorrow - Wednesday my last day here. I rode it 2x again today (row 2 outside), and I'm still not a fan. I guess I'm just an inside kind of guy.
  7. Perfect that's exactly what I'm looking for. My main reason for going is Lex. And there will be like a ceremony thing? Like an honorary first drop or something? Yes, the honorary first drop will involve the park president - Bonnie (aka The Ice Queen) dropping her drawers...
  8. I was at the park yesterday - Monday afternoon. They only had 1 train running, but they were moving the line effectively. They were doing the best with the same load / off load platform. I rode it 2x with once in the middle. The ride IMO is better in the middle than the wing springboard effect. I've not had a problem with the noodles, but I'm a marathon rider that enjoys the abuse. The clock is broke on the building. It's stuck at 3:00. At least it's right 2x a day.
  9. Whoa, very scary. Wait until Superman launches and the tower starts moving too. This is going to be a scary steel ride credit for me.
  10. I can't believe there is no news / rumors / conversations regarding the "proposed new ride" for 2013. Did I miss something, or did this go completely dead? I wonder if there will be any recognition of this at Coastermania in a few weeks. We don't have a meeting with management this year like usual. That's very strange. They've had some real good guests in the past, and watching management squirm at some of the questions is entertaining.
  11. From my experience on Sky Rush (4 times) that's the only good thing. I'll be back this week to try to like it.
  12. LLDOD looks plenty scary to me. I'm not a big fan of drop towers, but this one commands my respect. I can't wait to get back to the South-land again to ride it at least once. I'll bring a spare pair of shorts. I'll probably need them.
  13. I was extremely disappointed. I felt for sure this ride would easily be in my top 10 steel if not in the top 5. I rode it 4 times this weekend (lines were extreme) with 3 times on the wing. I'm very disappointed in it. I found the "springboard action" made this ride rough for me. The 1 center seat ride was better, but I always ride with my hands up once I crest the hill and it was rough for a 1 month old coaster. Dispatches this morning seemed quicker. I think the staff is getting better. I'll be back in a few weeks test it out again. I guess I'm a minority who doesn't like this ride. I didn't have any noodle complaints.
  14. ^ Nice picture. I love Blue Streak. It looks beautiful now with it's new paint job. I'll be there for Coastermania week. It's my favorite ride at the Point. I've got nothing good to say about Mean Streak. It ran it's best after our meeting last year during evening Coastermania ERT. They (management) begged us to ride it, so I did. It was ride-able that Friday night. Saturday it wasn't running all day. I guess we broke it. I rode it on Sunday and it was back to being shitty. Big surprise there...
  15. You must be on some "funky" meds...
  16. I was at the park today from 4 - 10. Everything in the Comet Hollow had problems (periodically closed) including: Comet, SDL and of course Sky Rush. I only rode it 2 times during 2 hours that I was waiting for it. It was down 4 times during that 2 hour period. When the ride was running, the rideops were were constantly crossing for no apparent reason. As others have said -- slow dispatch times. Nuf said. My first ride was last row outside (right) wing seat. I found that seat very rough. It seems like it has the same spring board effect like X2 at Magic Mountain which I don't like either. I did ride it a second time row 3 middle and found that better. I had no problem with my thighs. I had high expectations for this ride, but I'm really not sure if it will break into my top 10 steel. I'll try to ride it several more times tomorrow to try to rate it better. I'm really disappointed... I like the new SDL trains.
  17. I'm heading to Hershey this afternoon since I'm working in the area. This is my first visit this season, and I'm ready for some abuse on Thigh Rush. I can't wait!!! Bring it on...
  18. Yeah, a non stop spinning wiener ... That's exactly what C.P. needs.
  19. I posted this question a few weeks ago with out an answer. How much did El Toro cost? I heard this from one of the ride leads yesterday. she asked several people and they said around $15 Million. I know that's a lot for a wood coaster, but in 6 years (it's birthday is June 12 according to rcdatabase), no wood has been replaced and it still delivers amazing rides. I rode it 12 times yesterday. Happy almost Birthday E.T.!!!
  20. I agree. Also, if DT does end up being removed, I wouldn't doubt at all that CP might have a second coaster for 2013. Something more family-oriented. CP has changed a lot over the recent years, but I still doubt that they're going to give up the coaster crown easily. Honestly, at this point I'd still like to see Disaster Transport and Space Spiral saved if possible. Coaster crown... They've lost that quite sometime ago. I don't see them getting it back.
  21. Nothing posted on the Cedar Point site yet. I just hope this isn't a false alarm. I need a new ride. I don't classify STR as a coaster. IMO, Maverick was their last coaster installed. I'm not a fan of it, so I'm really depressed.
  22. Well, finally the 6 year coaster drought (since Maverick) is over. It's about time!!! I need coasters. ..
