  1. 4 Latreal G forces on space 2000? That doesn't sound reasonable to me... Especiall after looking at a picture of the coaster.
  2. Well, I know that up untill it became Zonga, Taz's Texas Tornado had a vertical Gs record of 6.7Gs (not counting old coasters such as Flip Flap Railway that pulled 12Gs), but I was wondering what coasters hold the records today. Especiallly latreal Gs and negative vertical Gs I mean, years ago someone told me that 1.5Gs was abou s high as you could get on either one of those, but ever since I've been on or seen coasters that seem to have so much more than that. I've seen a nolimtis recreation of Steel Hawg that seems very accurate, and yet, that first turn pulls latreal Gs that are in the red - so I can't help but wonder what's incorrect, Nolimits' physics engine, or just it's ocncept of what's a normal amount of Gs on a ride.
  3. I'm not sure exactly, it's slightly taller than the Boomerang coaster, which is next to it. so if the boomerang is 116', I guess I'd estimate the drop tower to be at about 150' . But I could be way off. It is larger than Beech Bend, but you can't help but be reminded of each park if you're visitng the other(assuming you've been to both). Especailly the old half of the Superland. Both are built around a small lake, The Kentucky Rumbler rules the skyline like the Kumba, there's a pinafari looper, go karts, a two-drop log flume and a bunch of other similarities. I guess you're right though, Beech Bend is smaller and yet it has 4 rollercoasters(even though the other two are both medium-to-small). I guess I can imagine seeing Superland support another large rollercoaster! By the way, you can see my unfinsihed Superland TR(in which I PREDICTED that they're going to get a new ride) here: http://www.themeparkreview.com/forum/viewtopic.php?p=634540#634540
  4. Well, frankly, I don't expect most of you to care about some drop tower opening in a country that, unless you're jewish, you never really planned on visiting anyway. But ever since the only Israeli rollercoaster forum closed, I have no other venue to geek-out at this, so I'm sharing the excitment here, hoping that some of the people from the old forum who visit TPR will see this. PLUS, you might share in my excitment once I mention that up untill now I lived in a practically AIRTIMELESS country. The only airtime you could get here was from a Moby Dick style ride, or a frog hopper. both located in a remote park most people have never heard of, not to mention that the local parks are in severe lack of some good thrill rides. And even then it was only nearing on floater airtime, whereas this drop tower will provide Israel's first ever ejector airtime! Anyhow, a few years ago I emailed the park manager with all sorts of suggestions, ideas, and critiques about the park. One of the suggestions was that they build an S&S launch tower, just like this. For many reasons(the park doens't have alot of open space, and nowhere to expand, the budget is limited, and the change to the skyline will draw more people in) I was thrilled that they actually went and BUILT it! I don't know if it has anything to do with my email(even though I do know that the park manager did read it), but it feels amazing that it COULD be that JUST MAYBE I helped play a little bit of real life Rollercoaster Tycoon! You'll have to excuse the quality. This was taken from a gas station across the street, during a thunderstorm, in dusk, via cellphone. I'm surprised you can even see the tower. The ride's name is "Black Mamba". Now, whenever something gets built in Luna Park Tel Aviv, something gets built in it's sister park - Superland. When Luna Park Tel Aviv built a Boomerang, Superland built an SLC. When Luna Park Tel Aviv built a "driving school" type ride, Superland added some kiddy bumper cars. This, combined with the fact that last time I went to Superland I saw a LOT of cleared land(I totally knew they were planning something! I KNEW it!), and the fact they told me over the phone they're planning something, lets me to believe whatever is coming to Superland is going to be a BIG thrill ride. The area cleared is big enough for a coaster, but considering the park is fairly small I don't know if they're going to build another star attraction rollercoaster when they already have an SLC(The park is about as big as Beech Bend). I left a message to the park manager, I also mentioned I'm a member of a website called "Theme Park Review", so hopefully I'll get an inside scoop or something. A picture of Superland. The cleared area is to the far left from the Skycoaster. A link to my Superland TR is posted further down.
  5. Well, I guess the fact he asked what would happen if he fell makes this very suspicious. I see this is a pinfanari inverted coaster. I can't imagine how could someone of normal height be able to fall off without trying to fall off. Then again, who in the world goes to an amusement park to kill themself? I guess either he was under the influence of something, he had some sort of mental problem, maybe he was trying to just get hurt and sue the park, but I think it's most likely that this was a suicide. EDIT - according to the title of another news article on that site there was no mechanical failure found. How sad, though, in the picture they showed of him he seems very young.
  6. Wow, that is an awesome, weird place! I have to visit that osmeday! What is that coaster?
  7. It was said that it's a clone of ONE of the dragons
  8. Oh. I'm stumped, then. maybe that park that was mentioned many pages back that's going tobe built in texas or wherever that was said to have a B&M
  9. I somehow doubt that, what with the fact that Magic Mountain currently has a coaster under construction and all. Granted, back in 2000 they had 3 coasters under construction at the same time, but they were all announced at once. My guess is still on the Alton secret weapon coaster. But that's just because we don't know where this track is going, whereas we don't know what kind of coaster alton's getting, so it's just connect-the-dots. I would like to think that Alton is getting something a bit more interesting than another B&M. Even if the ones they do have are great. Simply because Alton Towers is the british version of the old Coney Island - in terms of being a hotbed for rollercoaster prototypes and advances.
  10. On the Midwest trip Robb warned us about the clothes we would need to pack for Cedar Point. According to him the park has it's own weather system. When we got there we found out how right he was. It was the middle of August, when all of a sudden a downpour of rain hits and a tornado cloud whirled above us(ended up touching ground about an hour's drive away from the park) In other words - don't count on Cedar Point weather to be ANYTHING. I'd pack both a warm coat and a bathing suit if I were you.
  11. Racing Kiddie coasters. whatever the theme. Little kids hardly ever get to be in on the racing fun.
  12. Thanks I apreciate the compliment and the bump. I'm still around TPR alot, I just stopped updating the lil' robby rob related stuff...
  13. Ooh! Cool! that horsie ride looks exactly like a horsie ride that was around here about 16 years ago!
  14. ^How is that significantly stupid, except for the typo here and there?
  15. Quite frankly I would much rather see, say, flat rides, being put in the game rather than people to ride the rides. I mean, lord knows how much I would love to see a rollercoaster tycoon type game with a realistic engine such as NL, but even just adding people to the game doesn't sound too realistic of a goal to me to be done properly. I must say though that I loved to hear that you will now be able to build your track around the heartline automatically! That sounds like a great feature!
  16. First flyer was Stealth(which was then moved and renamed Borg). As for a tilt coaster - a tilt coaster can't really be very ground hugging unless Alton Towers is subject to a spontaneous earthquake that creates a large cliff in the park. Plus they already have a verticla coaster that goes undergroudn so redoign that would be redundant. I figured it was a robocoaster too untill I read abotu the universal agreement. Wasnt there a thread not long ago that showed 4 potential ideas alton towers is going with? Can't we see that for a refference?
  17. well, tilting could jsut be the GP expression for sloped track? Or it's some other form of tehcnological innovention. I dunno. =\ I do know that the people living around Alton are not the most forgiving folks, and I can't see alton breaking the skyline rule they've spent so much time and money to avoid breaking all these years.
  18. ^A tilt coaster? How is that even possible? Alton can't build high enough to build a tilt coaster.
  19. I saw a video on youtube that said that the expansion would be a robocoaster... I know it wasnt official, but the 3D model they had there seemed to amke alot of sense for alton towers. I didnt know about the agreement between universal and Kuka, though...
  20. Ha ha! That looks AWESOME! I can't wait to see that!
  21. A drawing of my home park(Superland) as part of a comic I'm working on.
  22. Wow! That looks CRAZY! I love it! That first drop looks awesome and that's a really cool headchopper at hte bottom!
  23. ^I think that's not very doable. I doubt apollo's chariot type restraint swould be praticularly comfy during the holding brakes section at the top of the first drop.
  24. I doubt it, after all, he did say the game probably wont be done untill 2010
  25. ^Yeah, I figured the dwight thing shortly after posting. but you gotta admit he looks alot like him.
