Powder Keg Test Run Photos! Check 'em out!
kenshinmac replied to robbalvey's topic in Photo Trip Report Archive
I'm still trying to understand this ride... Did they retain the splashdown? Is there some pyro (where is the pyromanic emoticon? )? Still it looks like it has some nice steep corners and could very well be a exciting ride. -
People that don't understand
kenshinmac replied to CoasterCrazy's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I think I probably belong to the least understood and most ostracized groups period... I enjoy and collect: Anime Video Games (I'm pushing near 400 now...) (I'm also here but I guess you figured that...) So far I haven't really done a trip specifically for riding coasters but I have been the source of numerous detours to go to parks -
lol I found the picture... That is great...

Watch 'em sink!
kenshinmac replied to FlyingScooter's topic in Roller Coaster Games, Models, and Other Randomness
Have you had the problem where the game glitches and as your people get out they fall under the rollercoaster? That one was an interesting one... I had to keep selecting them one by one as their heads popped through the ride. -
Hmm my bad... Sorry. Still there are a hell of a lot of great beers here that you probably haven't seen. I honestly like Fat Tire and Sunshine probably the most of all the New Belgium beers. Bier de Mars is a very interesting one with some great taste but it just isn't really my sort of thing as much as the others.

Anyone else pick up the new Studio Ghibli DVD's today?
kenshinmac replied to kenshinmac's topic in Random, Random, Random
Honestly Spirited Away is my least favorite of Miyazaki's works. It is just a little too far removed from american mythos to really work here. Apparently much of it is derived from asian mythologies and therefore makes more sense to those cultures. Honestly give some of the others a chance because they are far more understandable and a lot more fun in almost every way. Try out Princess Mononoke and all the parts you didn't like in Spirited Away should be forgiven. Lets face it every director makes a movie that isn't the greatest(Uwe Boll might one day make a good movie... Who knows lol). Miyazaki made a movie that just didn't click in the american audiences... I was bummed by it but I loved the animation so I still bought it. I still didn't feel it had the magic of his others. -

Best Buy BTW the person who put who is Miyazaki/ What is Studio Ghibli check this site. It has all sorts of info on what they have done in the past and are working on now. Honestly if you haven't seen any of their movies before Princess Mononoke is probably the best started as it is just beautiful and has a adult type story (don't show this to kids it has dismemberment (a few arms and legs removed) and decapitation although it isn't really a violent/gory anime. Just keep it in mind when selecting which movie to watch). Although Castle in the Sky, Kiki, and Nausicaa are great starters as well and are good for all ages the little ones included.[/url] -
lol obviously you haven't read enough of the picture captions...

Well I know I am a big fan of Miyazaki's work so I had to run out and get Nausicaa and Porco Rosso today. I passed on The Cat Returns because it just wasn't as exciting. The Poll is above... Did you grab any of the other DVD's from them? Princess Mononoke, My Neighboor Totoro (Fox release. Disney's is still coming), Spirited Away, Kiki's Delivery Service, and Castle in the Sky. All of them are amazing. There is also the Grave of Fireflies which is by a different director but the same studio and is honestly one of the most heartbreaking movies I have ever seen. These are real masterpieces. If you can't buy them please at least rent some and get the experience.

LOL and a M*A*S*H reference already Yeah... So why does everyone have to grow up? Why couldn't I just be happy? I miss the days before I had to think about getting a job and all the rest of the things that are stressful.

OMG where is the love for Colorado brews?.. New Belgium doesn't have any mention? Seriously have you really not had Sunshine Wheat or Fat Tire? (If you can't find these you really need to find a better beer store. Although I'm not sure if they are out east yet. Hmm apparently no So Cal yet either. Map with locations scroll down) No mention of Odells? With their 90 shilling and Easy Street Wheat and all the rest. No Boulder Beers? No Single Track or Buff Gold? Seriously beer is best from Microbreweries and Colorado has a great variety. Microbrews are usually comparably priced and are often more unique and fun than the typical mass produced stuff.

RCT and barfing
kenshinmac replied to jumbach's topic in Roller Coaster Games, Models, and Other Randomness
I know all about stomach acids and the like... But you only get the really gross puke when people have been eating. Of course they still shut down rides these days no matter what... -
Worst Themed ride you have been on?
kenshinmac replied to kenshinmac's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Seriously if you think Corkscrew is bad you haven't seen anything lol... At least they made an attempt. -
Seriously what is with the west coast Six Flags? I mean seriously I thought that they would at least throw up a few trees or something. I mean it just looks so crappy putting up a ride over a parking lot. If they had put some themed tunnels in or something it would have been cool but west coast Medusa is pathetic.

Robb's Silver Bullet Review
kenshinmac replied to Dr Freeze's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
lol That is probably one of the most and least appropriate comparisons I have ever seen. Honestly it does kinda make sense but seriously logic just kinda says wtf. I gotta say though that doesn't exactly make me thrilled about the future for B&M. If they keep making these acrobatic but unthrilling rides why will people ride them? I mean seriously OMG it turns through 4 dimensions but so what if you can't feel it? -
powered usually means that there is a motor in it that pulls the ride the entire way through. There are such things as powered lifts that give power to an internal motor to drag the ride up the lift and then coast through the ride.

Waterparks, anyone?
kenshinmac replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Robb Waterworld is a blast. It has quite a unique collection of rides as they range from very early waterpark rides and some new ones. There is a great range of rides especially in the river country area where there are singles doubles and the large 2-3 adult rafts. The new ride Storm was a bit of a letdown as it is just a dark tube but most rides are far more creative. Just BTW the Screamin' Mimi is just hilarious because it is actually sleds on rollers... I don't think I have ever seen one of those anywhere else. If you guys are gonna do a denver trip you gotta give me a yell. I need an excuse to go to Lakeside one of these days... None of my friends want to go as they all consider it kinda a "ghetto looking park" to quote a phrase they have used. BTW what is Lagoon? -
Robb's Silver Bullet Review
kenshinmac replied to Dr Freeze's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Seriously more forceless than Medusa at Marine World? I went on it twice but more because it was almost walk on the day I went while others were quite a line. I honestly felt like I could probably fall asleep on that... What happened to B&M their rides used to have oomph. Now they just have well... -
Waterparks, anyone?
kenshinmac replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
WaterWorld Colorado... 8) Only park I know of with animatronics on a tube ride Great stuff and the park is on a hill so there are very few rides that are way up in the air meaning nice views. Also the only waterpark I know with a cable car gondola ride between sections of the park. Voyage to the Center of the Earth info page w/ video (really short video that is...) Clickable park map with rides and info
