Didn't they replace a section of track on all of them? What was the deal with that? I think Six Flags needs to stop buying prototype rides... They always seem to get a pretty raw deal...

Trackless Vehicle Rides/Attractions
kenshinmac replied to Nrthwnd's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Tower of Terror I am fairly sure uses a track similar to classic dark rides when moving through the building. Unless I was going crazy there were definitely grooves in the floor that the car was following. Of course it was dark so it could be a painted line but I doubt it. Maybe someone with a bit more experience will point out something I missed. -
RCT CHALLENGE: GIGA COASTER
kenshinmac replied to crispy's topic in Roller Coaster Games, Models, and Other Randomness
Ok so wait... We can make it a functional coaster as long as the paths don't go onto the 20x30 space, right? Like link it up with paths and all... BTW I don't think it will be possible for RCT1 owners to participate as I am 90% sure that this coaster style wasn't even in the game. Well anyway I get to make my crappy attempts at theming public... Yahoo!!! -

Where in the world ARE Robb & Elissa?
kenshinmac replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
It will be as soon as possible, but I still have updates from SheiKra, Hong Kong, and my UK trip to post first! --Robb You guys obviously just need to travel less... -

Yeah but I have never seen that ride closed for the late season period... It had like an hour long line when I was there and would have been insane to wait for with just one slide... -

Just out of curiosity when do you think you might have a Photo Update of the craziness? I would love to see what you guys did... Sounds like you had a ton of fun. -

That makes me wonder even more... I mean why would that ride be closed for like 3 or so weeks... Granted it isn't even close to peak season but wow... Oh and making it on all the rides that quickly... My hat is off to you. That is incredible. (How long did you stay on "The Wave"? My record is about 3 nano seconds... ) -

Do you mean River Country Robb? (park map) Personally I find some of those to be pretty insane. I know in the singles I have felt I was gonna flip more than once and the medium size green tube flumes are pretty fun if a bit slow in places. Oh just BTW was the closed top toilet bowl (the space bowl) closed when you were there? When I was there the whole thing was caution taped off but the ride was running fine. Does anyone know what the deal there was? Was all the themeing in Pharoh working when you got there? The last 2 times I was on it several things were missing or not functioning. Oh and my only problem ever with Voyage is the insane wait... Not only to get a tube at the bottom but then once you get to the top sometimes you will wait another 10-15minutes. Still how many water rides last about 5 minutes... -

Yeah really I don't really have any real problem with the park but it just seems sad that everything but the Twister 2 is a clone... BTW Robb what rides did you guys hit at WaterWorld? Think you might do another trip for it I only got to go a few weeks ago and I loved Revolution and all the old rides were running about as well as I remember. Didn't get to try out Pharoh though and some of the rides on the hill above Thunder Bay were closed... -

I"M SORRY BUT I DISAGREE. Everything is Maintained very good. Yes there are a ton of break downs but who care. They are machines that break down. Now please tell me why you think everything is poorly maintained in that park. Well personally I believe it because almost every ride bumps in the most incredible way. Sure most of the flats are good but honestly I have never ridden another SLC that felt quite as bad as our Mid Eraser... Now I don't have near as much experience as Robb but it is still pretty bad. I also think the boomerang is pretty damn bad... Of course we do have halfpipe and that is awesome but well by the end of last season it was bumping through the bottom of the pipe while initially it was smooth as anything. Has that changed this season? Don't think I am complaining about the whole park... I like the place. I just wish that the coasters were more comfortable. Oh and personally I find Flying Coaster fine... (shrugs) -

I have said it time and time again... Elitches is the red headed step child of the chain... No doubt in my mind. We have 1 unique coaster... Almost everything is poorly maintained... Seriously Robb what did you think of the Boomerang... Last time I was on it the thing beat the crap out of me. BTW when do you think we will be able to find a photo update? Oh and if you ever come to Denver again please post the time... Heck maybe make it like guess the location in the park to meet or something... I still need an excuse to go to Lakeside... No friends want to go -

Damn... They were even hinting at this earlier in the year... Of course I was away this weekend... Damn I would have loved to say hi... BTW when you guys gonna post some pics and some reviews? I want to know what you guys thought of WaterWorld. BTW which exact corner of WaterWorld was that... I know several that you can actually not see rides from. You guys really should have done a shot up at the corner by Voyage where you can see the school. -

Personally I have a very specialized very professional way to do it... www.rcdb.com I seriously can't keep up with all the designers and builders of Wooden coasters. It is just so easy with steel coasters to tell the difference. -

That ride rocks... I can't take spinning rides but it is nothing like a spinning ride. Just keep in mind that if you are in the seats at the back of the paddle it is a pretty intense ride. The seats at the front give a fun ride without being as intense and you get a great view of the other paddle. -

So what were all those Buzz rides, the Pooh rides, the subs re-hab at Disneyland, the Monsters Inc ride at Disneyland? And quite honestly, Soarin' IMO, while *I* personally don't really like that ride think it's a *PERFECT* ride the whole family can enjoy. Same thing with Test Track. It kind of is the "modern day" Pirates. And yes while both Test Track and Soarin' have a 40" height restriction, that's only a 4 years old. So IMO, that's still very much a 'family' ride. There's been a LOT of family rides built in the past 10 years! Tell you what, go to a Disney park with a family (I do!) and you'll see! And all those rides I've mentioned have been built within the last 10 years. There seems to be more ride projects than ever being built at Disney parks, in fact the last time I can remember this much activity was in 1994/95 when Tower, Indy, and Space Mountain all opened up. Oh, and you're wrong about being able to take a small child on Tower of Terror. The height restriction is only 40" so basically a 4 year old can ride it. Whenever we go on Tower, we always see small kids riding it! And LOVING it!!! --Robb "While IMO we haven't seen a new E-ticket on the level of the original Tower, there has been a LOT of new rides in development!" Alvey Whoa... I had no idea the ToT height was that low. I guess I wasn't aware that the height restrictions were that low. I am not sure if I would consider some of them "family" rides. I definitely know some adults that wouldn't go near ToT and Test Track. You are definitely right about Pooh and Buzz. I just question how long the Buzz ride will remain relevant. I mean Pooh is a classic childrens character but how long will Buzz's popularity last when there aren't new movies coming to theaters? I definitely think that the latest round of announcements is a great way for Disney to go though. I am really happy the subs are coming back although it would have been nice if they could have upped the capacity somehow. The re-inventing of Superstar limo is a great thing too. -

Yeah Robb as Jose pointed out I was kinda talking about the rides that a whole family can enjoy. The sort of things I remember growing up with in Disneyland. I just kinda wish that Disney would build a few more of them. I don't think that there isn't room for age specific rides and attractions but I think there haven't been enough of the truly magical rides that the Disney parks are truly known for. I mean the rides that I found the theming the best on recently are things like ToT that you couldn't take a small child on at all. Maybe I'm being irrational but it seems like Disney is moving away from the whole family spending a day together feel to the teens go one way everyone else goes the other...
