Back up to $2 here in the little town of Du Bois, Pa. Soon Ill have to start walking again....Oh well.

Finally saw this again last night, after I saw it available to rent on my PS3. I was hoping for it to go up in my book, after having (friendly) arguments with two coworkers who said it was the best movie they had ever seen. When I first saw it, I rated it a 8.5 out of 10....now its an 8 out of 10. Yeah...it went down in my book, and thats not a good thing. My main problem is that nothing really stood out to me and said "Hey! This is a great movie." Wanted did this to me, because it had an amazing style, which this did not, and thats why I rated Wanted my favorite movie of 08. It was not the best, but it was the funnest to watch, while The Dark Knight was just depressing to watch. Also, the performances were not that good in the movie. People are raving "Heath was Amazing...Oscar Worthy"...Nope! Ive seen so many people on youtube and such do the exact same performance, and I had a hard time telling them apart. A real Oscar worthy performance is something only one person can do, and that is why There Will Be Blood was amazing. If anything, Aaron Eckhart had the best performance in the movie. You actually felt for him, and could feel real emotion from him. And I so wish that whole Boat sequence wasn't in the movie...added nothing...Should have just been a showdown between Batman and Joker ala the First Batman movie. I know it seems like I'm bashing the movie, but I still quite liked it, and will buy the blu ray down the line. But Batman Returns will still be my ideal Batman movie. Edit- Just saw that the movie was #5 on IMDB. Way to high...especially considering the movies its beating!

I'm sad to see it go, as it was a great ride. However, change is key, and hopefully it gets replaced with another great kids coaster. Now here's hoping they will sell it to me to put in my back yard. -
Not really a top 5, but my awards for 2008: Best Movie: Wall-E - Only Pixar can make a movie about a trash collecting robot with almost no dialog interesting. Most Entertaining Movie: Wanted - While it wasn't the best of 08, I rated it higher than Wall-E, as it did the best job of doing what it meant to- entertain me! Most Underrated: Speed Racer - As someone who always wanted to get into film making, this movie blew me away both visually and emotionally. Its not often you see a movie with an actual heart that ALSO has great visuals. Biggest Surprise: The Spiderwick Chronicles - I was not expecting to like this, thinking it would be another pointless kids movie, but holy crap was it good. Fun for the whole family, with great action, and even better acting. Biggest Disappointment: Quantum of Solace - I felt like I was about to cry after seeing this movie. The action was so bad, the acting was equally as bad, the story was horrible...It was just bad. This is why you have action directors direct action movies, and drama directors direct dramas. And Casino Royale was soooo good. Worst Movie: ^^^^
-
I voted for Star Trek, as my dude JJ has never let me down. However the movie that will blow all of these away will be Avatar, at the end of the year. James Cameron WILL reinvent film again...mark my words.

^Well, John Favreau did go from directing Elf, to Zathura to Iron Man, which is just a slightly different genera of movie, so I'll give Forster a chance. Everybody was doubting Favreau, and he made the second biggest movie of 2008!, so hopefully Mark does well. I really hope....after Casino Royale, every bond film has to be good, as it set the bar so high. PS- The time doesn't really bother me. Royale was to long, and could have been edited down A LOT! PSS- I'm the opposite of everyone else. I use to really like the new theme, but now its just sorta boring and uninteresting. Boy do I like my changing opinions! -
Surprisingly we did all the mazes except one (the one in the restaurant), ALL the coasters (except racer, as it was closed), and several flat fides, and even a potato patch in there! Final ride count: Phantom (walk on)1 Exterminator (walk on) 1 Swingshot (walk on)1 Kangaroo (No one was riding this!)1 Thunderbolt (about 25 minute wait)1 Jackrabbit (about 30 minute wait)1 Ghostwood estate (10 minute wait)1 Volcano (15 minute wait)1 Crazy amount of fog (priceless!) Here's the entrance video I took: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0NJI8gTk0mk

Once upon a time, the end of the coaster year was approaching, and without a trip to kennywood, I would turn into a stick of butter. So I decided it was time to go, but there was only one problem, the regular season was closed, and the phantom had turned the park into a place of haunts! Well, I get scared easy, but I dont like butter that much, so I had to brave the haunts and try to..... Well, that was an interesting story, but in reality, I had never been to a Halloween event, so I decided to go to my home park's one, and see what the fuss was about....and I dont like butter... And holy crap as it the best time I've ever gad at a park! The atmosphere, the rides, the theming...and lets not forget the walkthrough! I'll rate them from favorite to least favorite, but as I had never done one before, this is most likely going to be off to what everyone else rates them: 1- Mortern Manor (I think thats the name...it was in the children's area) Wow was this one crazy...from the pitch black areas, to the crazy red for where you couldn't see an inch in front of you, to the craziest element ever, in which you push yourself through two balloonish things, or as chris said two moon bounces. You couldn't move anywhere but straight! 2- Villa of the Vampires - The last one of the night was quite good. I felt that I had walked into a vampire movie, and it had some really cool effects. 3- Haunted Ark - While I was dissapointed they couldn't have just left the classic ark the way it was, they added some cool scares to the ark. The part going through the mountain in pitch black had the whole group screaming! 4- Voo-Doo Bayuo - My most anticipated walkthrough of the night was slightly dissapointing, but still cool. The best thing as a geek was getting to walk through the rapids, but there was no real scares. There were two really cool effects with snakes, one big and one small, though. 5- Captain Skully's Curse in 3D - While the 3D effect on the walls were cool, that was about it. All it was pretty much was walls, and you could see the holes where they were hiding to scare you. No real special elements. But it was still fun! And being a dark ride/walkthrough fan more than coasters, I was in heaven, and thus there aren't any pictures of the walkthroughs, as I was to enthralled (whatever that means) by them. And while most people's adventures end, mine still went on, as I got lost In Pittsburgh at 2:30 in the morning...boy was that scarier than anything at the park! Thank god for verizon and their navigator! I know what I'm asking santa for this christmas! (I didn't see him for some reason) Oh, and THANKS very much for reading! Grrr...I'm an evil walkthrough!...Give me people! I feel bad for this guy. He had to stand there all night, without saying anything, They really need to make a union for these skeleton actors, as they are really mistreated! Holy crap!...They killed Dumbo!...Those bastards! Hey, do you have the time? I was suppose to catch a bus, but I missed it, so I had to call a cab. But I left my money with my other mask, so I had to call a friend over to bring some money, but I dont know the time as I said I'd meet him at midnight....Oh, and boo! This guy was awesome! The whole line stopped just so that we could watch him! But is it just me, or does she look a little like Shia Labouf? Crap, the whole reason I came here, and its closed! Gosh Darn!!! Holy crap, they are following me!!!!! Yeah, the fog was crazy in the park, but they could have gone all the way and just turned the lights off, that would have been crazy! I was hoping they would have a heaven themed area, so I could say I was "touched by an angel", but this sign ruined my hopes... Those of you afraid of clowns...HA! Its to late now! Score one for the clowns! ...as evidenced by these peoples heads! Its the original bouncy bounce! If you have never ridden this ride you need to! Its amazing... While everyone here comes for the fries, I come for the pepsi! Its amazing! Oh, is that what I think it is?....Hoop ear rings!!! Sue, this was cool, but it would have been much cooler if it was a horse operating a human skeleton!...think about it...I'll wait.... Haha...Death Valley...wait, its suppose to be scary...haha! What, theres a line to get to a WALKTHROUGH!?! I want my money back! You know, they really need to clean that fountain...it's looking like somebody put nickelodeon in there and it exploded! Excuse me, do you know where they have the actors walk around and theme the park for Halloween? Wow are some people messy with the toilet paper! Hmmm...this area is called graffiti city! Now this is normally an awesome ride, but they do something for phantom nights that makes it crazy! Its a surprise! Great, somebody call Mulder and Skully, and make sure they are the ones from the first 6 seasons, nothing after that! There is no logical reason for this to be in my trip report, and yet some reason it is. Maybee I should hit the delete button....doing it now...I CANT! "Out into the fog thou goes, but thou does not come back" That would be really strange if that was really a quote. I just sorta made that off the top of my head. Perhaps I have ESP...N. "I hear the rides are closed" "I hear they are open" "I hear Santa is in there" wait...what did that last person say? The only place where a really old dude standing in a bunch of blood is cool...any other time and its just creepy. Wow, they even extend the theming to visitors cars...How Cool! You know, they really need to take care of these booths more, its looks like it's themed for....wait... "Umm, excuse me Mr. Phantom, but I'm gonna need you to move you're coaster, its in a no parking spot.......thank you." Screw kennywood, the concept art gallery is where its at! Artsy shot...showing how crappy the traffic was...thats the only way to show it...I could do a sketch, but that would just be a sketch of a bunch of squares...perhaps a dance might work... And I'm off and there is something wrong with that price of gas...It should $7.19, not $3.19...those duboisians, what are they thinking...

Eagle Eye: Hmmm...I'm torn about this movie. I liked it, but I'm not sure how much. My main problem was that I was expecting a straight forward action movie. And while there was some great action, this movie deserves to go into another genera, instead of action. Thats all I'll say about that, if you've seen the movie, you know what I mean. Shia is a great actor, and was by default great. Billy Bob was great, as well as everyone else. Pacing was great, never really let up. The twist halfway through the movie is what ruined it for me... I'd give it a 7.5 out of 10. Or, in other terms, 3 3/4 Crazy Transformers Robot Action out of 5! Oh, and Burn after Reading =Awesome! 8.5/10

Been looking for a while, but still haven't been able to see it...sorry I said this many times in life, but for some reason i forgot that day... Gosh darn that guy who nearly ran out of ga...wait, that was me... Pheonix POV http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rjlbbgVyXJ8 -
Where did I get the inspiration to try three parks in one day?...ebay of course! Actually, Chris, from the Behemoth trip, was coming through the area to get to Astroland's last open day, and I figured I join him for a few of the local parks. So we went to Lakemont, Sauce Land, and an unexpected trip to Knoebels! Notes: -Holy crap the back of Skyliner at Lakemont with an empty train is an airtime machine! -Skydiver=Pain=Fun! -Leap the Dips is just crazy in the back! -Yeah...not much to do at lakemont... -...Sauce... -For some reason, I ate a sauce less sandwich, boy am I strange... -Who doesn't know what tainted love is? -Who keeps a gas station open, but without gas? -Pheonix still best wooden coaster I've ridden! -Rain will make any coaster crazier! -Why is this reading like a twitter update?... -Twister is mainly just good in the pitch black... -Why am I wasting time with words? By Kozmo, even though you're saying welcome. What a great day, and it sucks I couldn't make it up to Astroland, but work called, and somebody has to flip those burgers! Can I use this space to say how amazing the waffle ice cream sandwich was...no, while this my TR, so i'll say what I want I tried, I swear, but Knoebels is no fun, as their shooting range does not react to a camera flash...party poopers... Fling turns looks quite sexy wet...this can be said for several things in life! The most unsanitary thing in the park...well, other than the lake, restrooms, wood shavings..well, it's in the top 7. Continuing our trend of pizza, here's some pizza...what you wanted a better caption...sorry, that's all you're getting...picky people... Look at those chickens, wearing ponchos...no real coaster enthusiasts uses a poncho...well, maybe a few... This was my view driving into Knoebels, and I'm happy that it was... Mmmm...pizza with sauce...well, most pizza has sauce, but this is special sauce! Yes....we found the source of all awesomeness in the world! I may had just gotten a POV of this... maybe... : ) So yeah, I asked the ride operators if they could play tainted love, but both of them responded with "what is that." The nerves of them! Can you guess who is terrified on this ride...no really, can you? I cant! Oh where, oh where have my ponies gone? Well, okay, I did get into the park... This is the furthest I could get into the park, so the rest of the pictures will be taken from afar. ...water slides! At Delgrosso's, you have a great view of the mountains, but we're not here for the mountains...we're here for the....... A band with an audience of two, how poetic. With great fun comes great sacrifice.... This thing was one unique ride...I wish I knew what happened, but my mind had been twisted. Can somebody tell me why things are coming out of nowhere??? HOLY CRAP...Leap the Dips is on fire! Um...where did these guys come from? Only slightly different view from cedar point...only slightly.. Here we are, and it looks like they fixed the sign since we were last here...

The Official TPR "East Coast/Behemoth Trip" Update
ms13 replied to robbalvey's topic in Photo Trip Report Archive
Awww.....with this update comes the end of the trip I was a part off. It's been the strangest thing after reading trip reports for so long to actually say I was there for one..and even see a few pictures of my self in there. ....Weird... I've said it before, but I'll say it again, while the parks and ERT was awesome, it was the people who made this trip awesome! I'd be down for a TPR takeover of anything, even a shopping mall! Mike, Matt (x2), Adam, Tony, Chris, you guys are awesome!, and here's hoping we can met up some time in the future again! If I didn't say you're name, you're not as awesome, but you're still cool.... .....Nooo, everyone on the trip was amazingly awesome! Thanks for the memories guys, and cant wait for a trip next year! ( I got a second job just to make sure I'm on a trip next year!) -
1008 on my 8 gig touch...time to upgrade soon!
-
Haha...so true! Actually, I was really confused about what just happened! I was expecting a really crappy log flume, and got the biggest surprise of the trip! I'm so happy the ride attendant suggested that I leave my bag in the station, as I was ready to take it on the ride with me!

Holy crap! This thing freaks me out, and I'm not even afraid of heights! I think it's that darn lift...just staring at me. One of these days I need to get down there! -
Yeah, predator wasn't nearly as bad as i thought it would be. I actually quite enjoyed it! Not amazing, but just plain fun! I thought it was WAY underrated, at least toward the front. Toward the back, a little more rough, but not nearly as bad as a few coasters the next day! Superman (yeah, I'll say it!) is now my favorite coaster, and most people saying that the other ones are better has me excited! I felt like a jerk to, skipping line, but it was the best ride of the day, so that easily went away! And oh yeah, that enterprise was damn awesome, I would have skipped it if you had said nothing!

The Official TPR "East Coast/Behemoth Trip" Update
ms13 replied to robbalvey's topic in Photo Trip Report Archive
While ERT in the first wave of the storm was amazing, and perhaps the best coaster ride ever, I think my favorite memory of the day, perhaps trip, was the run through the park to the bus while ERT was still going on! The group decided to go when the rain was lightest, but started pouring really hard as soon as we left the pavilion. Running through an abandoned park, no lights on, no park employees around, in the pretty much pitch black, having no idea where to go, is something that I think I will never experience again! (well, perhaps on another trip!) It was the one time I left ERT early, and boy was it worth it, soaking wet bus drive included! (the irony was that I was carrying my poncho the whole time, but forgot about it!) -

Those dummys really need to get back to work..they're getting paid to much! Boulder dash is a credit I've been looking forward to for a while, and have yet to get to it. Hopefully it's as good as everybody says! Ohh, and classic rotor credit! Don't see those to often! (well, it's sorta like airtime!..)
