  1. Just watched it, and I loved it. I knew going in it wouldn't be a raucous comedy like Superbad, so there was no disappointment there. I think I appreciated it all the more since I just visited Kennywood for the first time last year. Stepping foot into that park really is like stepping into a time machine, and it was a perfect setting for the movie. I have a soft spot for teen-angst (or in this age, post-collegiate angst) movies, and I thought Adventureland hit all the right notes. Mottola's script touched on all the insecurities and vulnerabilities of youth, and Jesse Eisenberg and Kristen Stewart projected those feelings perfectly. And Bill Hader is frickin' hilarious.
  2. 6.5/10 A better troll would invoke the two instances where SFGAm received record-breaking/innovative rides a year prior to SFGAdv receiving clones (Shockwave in 1988, Batman in 1992).
  3. There's a difference between being irreverent and having bad taste. This was tasteless. Helbig is still probably trying to dislodge his foot from his mouth.
  4. Nothing very tall is likely to ever be built on the easternmost edge of the park due to neighbor complaints about noise. I have to believe Demon is reaching the end of its shelf life, too, especially with plenty of other Arrow loopers heading to the scrap heap (including Shockwave). The plot of land Demon sits on could be used in some interesting ways with how it interacts with walkways.
  5. Wrong. They can wait. Unless ADHD has given children the power to travel forward in time...
  6. This has to be the dumbest rumor I've ever heard. Top five dumbest, at the very least. Surely Six Flags doesn't believe that the best use of its money and assets is to relocate a (by that time) 14-year-old stand-up ride to one of their flagship parks that already has a stand-up ride and has no room for said 14-year-old stand-up ride unless it wants to cede still more of its parking lot.
  7. I've been an editor for 10 years, BeemerBoy, and I've long since given up hope. Most days, I feel like Luke Wilson in Idiocracy. That said, ZOMG!!!11! gigacoaster!!! w00t!!!
  8. Outstanding TR, my man! I feel like I've taken the tour myself now. It was really cool to see all of that behind-the-scenes stuff. And I've never noticed the extra padding on the shoulder harnesses on the first row of each car on Loch Ness Monster. I'm guessing they put that there to keep back-row riders from getting their fingers pinched when getting in? And you did just fine with the photography. I've been taking pictures of rides for almost 20 years, with everything from disposable to film to digital cameras. You just have to do what the professionals do: take tons of pictures. And frankly, for TPR, you just have to make sure you get your "through the trees" shot and your "nerd" shot of wheels or chain dogs or lift motors, which you did quite thoroughly here. Good job!
  9. This is officially the coolest thing I've seen all day, for at least the last 90 days. Thanks, pianojohn! Great pictures!
  10. Olaf, metal face! American girl think sexy. Great TR, guys. I'm enjoying the updates.
  11. ^What ginzo said. SOB has more problems than just its trains. And the Gerstlauer trains already represent management's attempt to salvage the ride. When I asked some of the TPR gang last year how the Great Nor'Easter was with the new trains, they told me, "It's better... but it's still an SLC." I think that's been the general consensus on SOB. Burn it down, sell the charcoal to Kingston, and put something... anything... in its place.
  12. My right brain is punching my left brain for thinking about the wisdom of Cedar Fair investing tens of millions of dollars on two rides when the chain's financial health isn't the greatest. Right brain says, "STOP THINKING ABOUT THE PARALLELS TO SIX FLAGS TEN YEARS AGO AND ENJOY NEW GARGANTUAN AIRTIME MACHINES!"
  13. Because it's a giant mountain of suck that has actually harmed human beings. We've done worse things to people who have done less to harm the human race. Yes. They're called "People who have never left the state of Ohio." Whoa, whoa, whoa... easy now. You're going to upset WickedTwisterFan07. But if we don't complain all the time about how it should be torn down, how else will Cedar Fair know that they should tear it down?
  14. ^ I like it, John. Probably 100% dead-on on the layout. Although you neglected to have only yellow supports for the first hill, inexplicably, then neutral-colored supports the rest of the way.
  15. ^^Would you have preferred if they'd moved it to Nashville? /Sorry... couldn't resist.
  16. So we were at an amusement park when a GWAR concert broke out.
  17. Hmm... Checks reference chart... yep, Robb is demonstrating "The Rocker."
  18. If you take those mallets and hit the person standing next to you in the head, ribs, and back, that would be an accurate recreation of SFFT's Rattler. There'd better be a picture of Roller Cowster coming up.
  19. Matthew, what you've just said is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever heard. At no point in your rambling, incoherent post were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone on this forum is now dumber for having read it. I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.
  20. Threw up on my girlfriend after riding the Scrambler, Octopus, and Tilt-A-Whirl at Kiddieland back in 1983. Good times.
