  2. If its a new park, I hit up whatever our favorite coaster was and marathon on it til they close it. Then its off to the souvenir shop to get a shot glass. SFSTL - we always marathon Screamin' Eagle and get our waffle cones at First Cone HW - Voyage marathon until they close or we can't handle it anymore WoF - used to marathon Patriot, but now its Prowler KI - Marathon Diamondback CP - depends on our mood, but we usually end the night with MF or TTD Mt. Olympus - if we stay til close, which is rare, my ritual here is praying thanking God I didn't die at the park and usually putting in a complaint or 2.... sad isn't it
  3. You're welcome, but for me, the weirdest part was driving through DC Comics Plaza without the huge Scooby mansion facade. In other news, the Palace Theater is getting renovated this off season. This will restore the outside of the building and put on a new roof, which will cost as much as a pretty nice house in the area. Its about time, its only about 20 years overdue
  4. Looking good already. I've been wanting to get back up to CW to ride Leviathan, but the more and more I see Fury's progress, I much rather ride Fury... it just looks like its going to be SOOO much better.
  5. ^ No, don't say that, its nice not having a coaster just thrown on top of asphalt, even if it does mean getting a new coaster. Plus, there's really not anywhere they could do that, considering the one side is the water park and the other has the catering area.
  6. Well in the pictures on their website, they may want to do better research.... they have a picture of Noah's Ark in Wisconsin Dells and labeling it as Mt. Olympus. How dare they slander Noah's Ark like that!
  7. They will never expand that far out, even though they could do SOOO much with it... The cost of putting in utilities, sewers, land grading, pathways, and buildings alone would be in millions, and thats before any rides. If you look though at the land between the park and whats for sale, that still leaves them for SOME expansion both in the main park and the water park if they ever want to. I've always dreamt of one badass terrain coaster starting in the park, going way out in those woods. I also don't see this land selling any time in the near future.
  8. You're giving them too much credit, you'd be lucky to get 3,000 out of 'em
  9. So it seems SFSTL or Corporate SF is still trying to sell a majority of its excess land to the east of the park. I knew a few years back they tried and were asking a hefty amount, but looks like they dropped their price dramatically. Just shy of $6 million for 180 acres comes out to $32,666 an acre which is beyond dirt cheap considering just at the southern tip of that, there is 4.54 acres for sale for $800,000. http://www.loopnet.com/Listing/18641544/Six-Flags-Rd-and-I-44-Eureka-MO/
  10. No, you shouldn't definitely be proud of yourself!!! Everything you guys do you should be so proud of, and I know you are. I also want to say thank you to you and everyone at Holiday World for making the park so amazing. You guys always do everything just right. You guys put such great thought in everything... especially the 66 Days. When it comes to ride announcements, I always just check for them on the internet, but what you guys did this past summer made me take off work a day and drive 3 1/2 hours to be there for it in person. You guys are definitely living the dream that most of us would die for.
  11. For 2015, we'll add seating to that area, in anticipation of something else taking that spot in 2016. HAHAHA, I love it.... Good job Paula, 2015 isn't even here yet and you just got everyone speculating on 2016
  12. Back in October, my friend and I were at SFGAm and were sitting on bench eating when I overheard quite the BS story coming from the bench next to us. It looked and sounded to me like a a first date and the guy was trying way too hard. He says to the girl that last year, him and his friends were on Goliath when the train stopped near the top of the lift hill. He proceeds to tell her that a worker came up to the top and told them it was the riders' choice to either evacuate the ride and take the stairs or they could release the train backwards back down the lift... he says everyone voted to be released. All of the sudden, she stops him mid sentence and calls him out on this story and tells him how she knows how rollercoasters work and didnt think it was possible to go backward on the the lift because of the dogs. He comes up with some BS about how maintenance came up and stuck a bar under the train to "release" them. The girl then calls him out and tells him how she worked a the park for 3 years in the rides department, and quit earlier this year and also called him out telling him that Goliath just opened this year. He tried backpedaling, but she wasn't having it. My friend and I just burst out laughing staring at this moron.
  13. BITE YOUR TONGUE!!!.... how dare you say that LOL. I'm already horrified and disgusted that SF did that to Colossus. Screamin' eagle is a classis, so they better not ever alter or change it in any way. If they would do that to the Screamin' Eagle, I will be so depressed and possibly even have heart failure.
  14. Actually the report called for normal re-tracking and Timberliners from the TGG. That doesn't make any sense, because the Timberliners are the lightest (in terms of weight) of all the wooden coaster trains out there. It's already been mentioned on here that the current trains need a certain amount of weight to run the course. I guess they could re-profile the drop, but honestly, if they're going to spend all that money for new trains, redoing the drop, and re-tracking, they might as well go ahead and give the RMC treatment. Turn it into something new and marketable. That's just my opinion. Some of the designers from TGG are from CCI, who made The Boss. It makes sense to have the TGG figure out what to do with The Boss since the designed it. I'm pretty sure SFSTl wants a retrack and TGG will have some changes made in order for the Timberliners to work on The Boss. I actually did hear that the guys from TGG were asked of their opinion of giving The Boss an RMC treatment, but never heard what their opinion actually was... I too would love Boss to get RMC, but I just don't see it happening any time soon. But all this talk with TGG popping up, it would be kind of cool if they could somehow do their own type of treatment... kind of like they did making Hades into Hades 360.... just changing certain parts of the ride instaed of the whole thing. I think it would actually be pretty badass if that could happen.
  15. Its both a great and horrible idea. This Downtown St. Louis area definitely needs some more attractions, and the aging, boring, no one goes there anymore Union Station definitely needs an overhaul. But I just don't see it getting passed by the officials, and if it does, I just dont see it taking off. As much as I love amusement parks, even cheesy little ones, another reason this is bad is the downtown St. Louis area just isnt as safe as it used to be. Just in the past year, there have been 3 or 4 SHOOTING alone at Union Station, not to mention the few robberies and "knock out" game victims.... all at Union Station alone. If it wasn't for the crime in the area, and other negative factors weighing in on how St. Louis does things, it would be a wonderful idea

  17. i almost forgot about this incident back in June 2012 at Mt. Olympus. Even though its rough, Ive always liked Hades, so I was pretty excited. The line was about 10 minutes long, but as we made it into the station, i noticed the operator having getting upset because people were stuck in the restraints. After getting everyone off, they next train was sent out, only to come back with the same problem, this time the front row of the front car, they were unable to get the people out, so they had to call maintainance. About 20 minutes later, 2 maintainance workers showed up and still were unable to get the 2 riders out, but after about 5 more minutes of effort, were able to free them. Now you think they would test the lap bars or at least ATTEMPT to find out what was wrong.... nope, loaded it with people and sent it out...... this is where things go from bad to practically tragic. The train gets sent out and as it came into the trims before the station, I realized the trims did not work and the train blasted into the station from the high up trims, jolted all the riders extremely hard, and stopped with the first 2 cars out past the station. The maintainance crew still there from the lap bar issue, chuckled and immediately sent the train out,..... not asking if everyone was OK or wanted to get off. Any large named parks would have e-stopped and evacuated the ride. Numerous people left the line while a few others started yelling at the maintainance crew. I stayed to see what would happen. As the train came back from its run, the trims again failed, not as bad this time with the front car hanging out of the station. Again, no one was asked if they were OK, and no one was given the chance to EVACUATE from the ride even though this time, a few riders were requesting to get off. As they sent the train out AGAIN, people on the train were yelling to get off. The third time back, the train was slowed normally by the trims and came back into the station without incident. They again had problems with the lap bars and a few of the 3 time riders gave the staff a piece of their mind, one guy went irate and they just completely ignored them. I was 4 trains away from riding, so curiosity kept me on the dock to see what would happen. You'd never believe it, they loaded the train and sent it out like nothing had ever happened. The next 3 trains made the course without problem, so I decided to ride anyway..... MISTAKE! The ride was sent out and as we made it into the trims, almost the entire train went through the trims before they engaged probably for the last 2 cars and came to a harsh hault partially out of the station. They were about to send us out of the station, when myself and 2 other men yelled a few choice words to the staff, one of them trying to pry themselves out, but I think it was when someone yelled "I'm suing" was when they decided not to send the train out. None of us were asked if we were OK and we unloaded... the front car unloaded manually onto the walkway. I then when straight to the maintainance workers, had a few "QUESTIONS" for them, got there names and went to talk to management. As I walked down the stairs, they sent the train out empty, only for it to return and be loaded with the few guests that had not got out of line. I was blown off by management only to be told that rollercoasters are like any other machine, they encounter problems, but if there seems to be no major issue, they would keep running them. After telling them I have been working in the amusement park industry for almost a decade and who I worked for, they seemed to get more straight faced but at the same time was told they have never had any injuries or major incidents with this ride, so they in essence was as safe as any Cedar Fair or Six Flags park..... HAHA, yah right. Anyway, it seems Mt. Olympus is more concerned with buying up everything in the Dells and staffing it with WELL below-par international workers that are barely tarined with sub-par safety guide lines, than to be concerned with safety protocol or the wellfare of their guests. Shame on you Mt. Olympus, the time will come when you will wish you would have spent the extra time and money to properly run your rides before a tragedy strikes. Unfortunately, tragedy did strike this year for one man, and I think many of us here knew it was just a matter of time.
  18. I can't agree anymore. I have had a couple bad experiences there, and 1 REALLY bad one
  19. Doesn't bother me. I just want to be able to protect myself. This is why I don't give certain places my money. I'm not going to get into a gun debate on here because this is not the forum for that. Absolutely understandable, the problem though is that many people think its a company policy, but its actually state law. 571.107. 1.(13) Any gated area of an amusement park. Possession of a firearm in a vehicle on the premises of the amusement park shall not be a criminal offense so long as the firearm is not removed from the vehicle or brandished while the vehicle is on the premises;
  20. I don't know if this has been a topic or not, couldn't find it, so if it has, sorry. Anyway, I was wondering what some of the worst things you may have seen or experienced while visiting a park. This could be anything: a horribly bad experience with an employee, witnessing a fight or a crime, being a victim of a crime, witnessing or being a victim of an accident or injury, absolutely horrible customer service... anything. I know I have seen quite a few things myself, some of them pretty rough, but Ive also been in the industry for 15+ years. I have 2, they both happened at different Six Flags parks. The first was an employee vs guest fight. We were near the front gate when we heard someone yelling. A guest was yelling very loud, right in an employees face, the person was irate and started poking the employee. Another employee was on the radio calling for security. People started leaving the area with their kids because it was getting bad and the guests langauage was horrid. The guest got the employee cornered against a gate and was acting as if he was going to hit the employee. 2 guys walked up and tried settling the guy down, but that just made it worse. Suddenly, the guy punched the employee, and the employee defended himself by tackling the guest. After a short wrestling match, the guest was on top of the employee just pummeling the employee's head. The 2 guys that originally tried stepping in, me, and one other guy subdued the guy until security could get there. During those 30 seconds of waiting, the guy who we were holding down bit one of the other guys very hard, hard enough that the guy had to go to the hospital later for stitches. Anwyay, when security got there, they couldn't do too much since they didnt have handcuffs. They told us to let the guy up, where we were all hesitant in doing so. They eventually made us let him go, so they could hold him until the police got there. While waitng for the police, the guest went crazy on the original two guys. When security stepped in, the guy tackled an officer and we again had to help restrain him. Eventually the police got there and arrested the guy. It was pretty scary. The employee and the guy who got bit both went to the hospital. But I think my worst had to be witnessing a massive brawl of at least 100 people at a Six Flags park years ago. People who were running away not even part of the comotion were getting sucker punched and beaten. Quite a few people were hurt, some moderately. There were torn clothes on the ground, shoes laying around, quite a few puddles of blood. A ton of people were arrested, I saw at least 30 people in handcuffs and zip ties, and as security and police were escorting people out of the park, another brawl broke out between the entrance and the parking lot. It was so violent and chaotic, they closed the park 3 hours early. The police closed all intersections between the park exit and highway to force every car leaving directly onto the highway so that none of it would start up again at the gas stations or stores across or down the street.
  21. 2004. In line for Millennium Force. There was a HUGE rain shaft out on Lake Erie, about a half mile from the park. We still had a good half hour wait and it was a good distance out, so I wasn't concerned. As we got to the station, the rain shaft had grown into a large wall of water, but still a good distance away. There was no lighning, hell there wasn't another cloud in the sky and the sun was out otherwise. As the it got closer, they temporarily shut down the ride. After about 10 minutes, it looked as if the downpour had passed. My girlfriend and I were next to ride front row. As we loaded, you could see the giant downpour was edging towards the northwest part of the park. A couple of people hollared at the ride ops not to send the train. They held us there for about 2 or 3 minutes and then sent us anyway... the next 2 minutes were nothing but pure PAIN! As we crested the lift, it didn't rain, it was a deluge of water, basically a very heavy thunderstorm without the thunder and lightning. All we could do was crouch over and cover our faces. The drops felt like thousands of needles. As we came into the brake run, you could hear a woman behind us in our car freaking out. As we got off the ride dripping like we went on a chute the shoots, and our bodys tingling all over, the ride attendants were gathering around the woman, who was screaming her eye was bleeding. Sure enough, this woman had a nice trail of blood coming from her eye and the ride attendants called first aid. I guess a large drop of water hitting your open eye going 95 MPH can be forcefull enough to make your eye bleed. Anyway, needless to say, it was a HORRIFIC ride!
  22. They all look incredible. I hope they are a tease and just "look" good... I'm pretty sure if you went this far though, theyre gone ride great
  23. Ditto on B&M Flyer pretzel loops, otherwise for entire ride, I would have to say Hades
