  1. ^I live in Sumner, which as you probably already know is 15 minutes outside Nashville. And I can verify, that land here is very affordable. When I drive out to Vietnam vets, there are lots of 100+ acre plots of land all over the place that are quite affordable. Heck, I almost bought 55 acres when I moved here back in 07 for only $350,000, and that was actually in Davidson county out on the western side of the 65N, near Millersville. Land is not the issue. I think it would be more the political hoops that you would have to jump through, as well as the actual cost of building a park. I just don't think anyone wants to put up the huge capitol investment. Especially if they will only see small returns on that investment on a year to year basis. As evidenced by HRP, the depreciation on the actual investment is quite substantial, even over the course of a single year of operation. It's not like flipping a house. You can't just turn it around and sell it for a profit after construction and opening year. It's a lifetime investment. Seriously, from a financial standpoint, an amusement park is a poor investment. 2. Disagree 100% If you drive 3-5 miles outside the 65/40 loop, there is ooodles (that's a technical term for lots) of land that is begging to be developed. As far as the NIMBY sentiment, from what I hear from people on a day to day basis is that they would love to have a local park here again. That and everyone is still confused as to why Opryland was very suddenly closed. The reasoning is still shrouded in mystery. Even ex employees tell me how shocked they were to find out that they wouldn't open the next year the night they were clocking out for the last time.
  3. I am not a moderator or anything, but me thinks this would be a bad idea, not to mention is not allowed according to the Terms of Service contract that you agreed to. You read that before you signed it, right?
  4. That thing looks pretty awesome! How does it ride? Is it more comfortable than the Vekoma Flyers that we are used to?
  5. ^If they were going to save it, they would have unbolted it, not cut it up using a torch.
  6. That video makes me very happy. It's almost retribution for the for the poor ride I received on it several years ago. Almost.
  7. Also, that movie was made way back in the 80's when all of MM rides were self dispatched. You would hit the button and then have 30 seconds to get in your seat and secure the lap bar. It made for much better operations.
  8. Hate to say this, but I kinda saw this coming after the last few months.
  9. Rest In Peace? Both of these attractions were maintenance nightmares. I think the ones that are resting in peace are the Cedar Fair Management team & and the people that had to do the upkeep on the rides.
  10. ^^I was just gonna say. After looking at that picture again it appears like that 90 degree turn has a slight lump in it. Almost as if they took a small camelback hump and placed it on it's side. Between this element, the barrel rolls, and the GICT. This ride is gonna f*@k up everything we know to exist on a wooden coaster. I can't wait for my SDC spring break next year.
  11. Oh my Gawd! Those are delicious! &^^Thank you for correcting my Engrish which stinks.
  12. Congrats Shane! I worked as a Lifeguard at Wet n' Wild the first 3 years of it's operation. I was sad to see it torn down and wondered who would snatch up the water park rights there in Las Vegas. It makes me very happy that it is going to be Cowabunga Bay. I know that the city of my childhood is in awesome waterpark hands. Good luck with the whole project. I wish you all the best.
  13. It looks like they are taking it down rather systematically. I wonder what park they are going to move it to? Probably the same one where Perilous Plunge is going. Wow! That park is getting an awesome coaster and a water ride this year. Lucky them.
  14. I was just thinking that Giant Floaty Head Thingy would make an awesome entrance to a Haunt maze.
  15. I'm thinking the GICT is gonna create some weird disorienting effects. It seems to me your body is gonna want to do a barrel roll there like I-Rat will have, especially with the bank left after. Instead your gonna enter from slightly right, get pulled back the same way you entered, then rotated for a left hand turn afterward. Not the way you'd expect a nice smooth over banked transition to go. Me likey!
  16. Yeah, I totally see it being packaged this way. It was probably written into his contract.
  17. Ah good old Chuck Henry. What a douchebag! Anyone seen his Firestorm video? I'm looking for it and can't find it anywhere. Even in my most sad of times, that video always brings a smile to my face.
  18. That video was amazing!
  19. Dollywood used to have a Flooded Mine ride? Me n' tha Midgets loved that ride at Silver Dollar City.
  20. This TR just keeps getting better and better! I will be sad when it is over.
  21. I wish more people would have the decency to do this themselves. Good for them.
  22. I know it once housed a Dolly Museum. But I think they moved most of that over to Jukebox Junction.
