  1. We should have a "Stupid Things Coaster Enthusiasts Say" Thread... Some of you act as if the GP should know more about coasters than they do. As if it were common knowledge.
  2. I wouldn't rely on eBay for Disneyland tickets...the chances of finding the right amount for the right time are not great. As Rick said, look on a travel site for hotels. There are many hotels in the resort and many have a shuttle to the parks. If anything I would make sure you are close enough to walk or that the hotel / motel has a shuttle. I will have to check about tickets...I haven't had to buy any in a long time.
  3. Well, considering I can't sleep and Chuck linked this topic from a recently locked thread... My Computer OS: Dual Boot Windows Vista Ultimate x32 and x64 Motherboard: Asus P5W DH Deluxe CPU: Intel Core 2 Duo E6600 2.4GHz Memory: 3GB Total / [2] 1GB DDR2 667 / [2] 512MB DDR2 667 Video Card: EVGA GeForce 8800 GT 512MB Hard Drive 1: Western Digital Caviar SE16 250GB 7200 RPM Hard Drive 2: Western Digital Caviar SE16 250GB 7200 RPM Hard Drive 3: Western Digital Caviar SE16 750GB 7200 RPM Optical Drive 1: LITE-ON Blu-ray DVD-ROM Optical Drive 2: [2] NEC 16X DVD±R DVD Burner Power Supply: 700W Sound Card: Creative Sound Blaster Audigy SE 5.1Ch Speakers: Logitech X-230 2.1Ch Monitor: SCEPTRE X20G-Naga III 20.1" Widescreen HD That's as of right now, but I recently ordered some high end memory to take advantage of Vista x64. My motherboard can handle 8GB, so obviously I bought 8GB! Though they wont run at full speed unless I slightly overclock, so soon my CPU will run even faster. I use the computer for SolidWorks CAD and some high-end games like Crysis. It's also a small home theater with amazing Blu-ray support. Now I just need an HDTV...
  4. And there is proof that they have crappy coffee.
  5. A haircut, thought that really isn't an item... Technically, I bought gas.
  6. She died, how can she speak?
  7. ...I swear, your are actually insane! Haha, what are you actually saying Tyler? Obviously he is showing he wants to fornicate with the Q bot pouch and have wonderful babies. His love is so deep that he would sacrifice his health by eating a cactus. So when is the wedding Tyler?
  8. I look back and I really wasn't thinking when I made this post. While I agree that the Disney magic is very important, when I see photos like the one posted (one of good taste at least) I don't have much of a problem...yes it violates the magic but I personally don't have a problem with it. BUT that does not mean that I would do anything to violate the magic, even though this post sort of did before it was edited. I realize that extra care for Disney magic is what makes a great cast member, and though I only see my role at Disney as a temporary college job, in no way do I want to tarnish the magic. But I don't think I would go out of my way to stop others from ruining it. Maybe that's why I don't stand out at Disney...and that is okay for me. I enjoy my job and value it more than most, but unfortunately not enough.
  9. I totally agree with you Robb, and feel that many of the cast that I work with don't even consider the Disney magic to begin with...and I regret that. If we would consider focusing less on our operations and put that effort into the thematic and magic elements of each attraction then it would do us a world of good. I can understand how when being Disney trained they must treat you like a guest and show an example of what cast members should do. Therefore you are more likely to take their lead once you start working. It helps mesh how employees interact with each other and with the guests, making it that much more natural to value the magic while working. But, and maybe this is just my experience, some of the TDA cast that trained me were not able to distinct cast member from guests. While being trained I felt like a guest, which as I pointed out is a good thing, but i found it went too far when they could not acknowledge me as a cast member until I started operations training. Maybe I have a problem with the Disney double standards. I entered the company expected to value the magic but I quickly was trained to focus on operations. Now I'm so used to operations that maybe it's awkward to see some cast going "too far" with the magic. I don't know, I definitely agree that we need more magic at the parks. But I don't think interactions between two employees, or even myself and a coaster enthusiast / TPR member needs to follow the same magic value guidelines as with a guest. I don't need to pretend on TPR like I would at work, IMO.
  10. That wasn't really in response to you, Dane. Just my general opinion. I just remember going through Traditions training thinking Disney management was a bit off their rocker. I just think they take it a bit too far sometimes, but understand that the Disney magic is still important...just not THAT important.
  11. Meh, I don't see the problem. Disney just wants to value the magic and I can understand that but photos will be taken and posted and they have to do their best to take them down. I just think it's odd that some value the magic a bit too much...as if it were more important than safety. Maybe it's just the fact that I work for Disney, but I don't think the few photos that do surface do any harm to the Disney magic.
  12. Along the same line, the lead singer from Escape the Fate jumped off the stage at Bamboozle Left earlier this year. He ate shit when no one caught him.
  13. I know that there are magnetic brakes at the top of Kingda Ka. Maybe I'm mistaking Kingda Ka for another coaster when it comes to the tire drive at the top.
  14. ^You could go into further explanation of why the tire drive system at the top does not solve the problem instead of your attitude. If I remember correctly the ride-op still has to take the elevator up to access the drive tire panel. Instead of pushing the ride-op just jogs the train.
  15. Not at all. They were an efficiency nightmare and worked only at low wind speeds. Quite lame for a coaster themed to wind.
  16. You can but as Terrance posted earlier, you will have a hard time fitting in. Most people on the trips find a small group to hang out with and stick with that group. Many are not really accepting of adding another person and taking the time to befriend them for one day.
  17. Le Disko - Shiny Toy Guns
  18. And you're 12...you can't really call it dating or a relationship at that age.
  19. Yea, in any occurrence I've encountered at work PPM means Parts Per Million.
  20. I got my first job at the local pet store by volunteering. After a few months they felt it was time to hire me. Also, not really volunteer work but I did a 100-mile bike ride a few weeks ago in support of a cure for MS.
  21. They can be moved but I don't think they would sacrifice one of their trains to be modified to go backwards. The effort to do so would make me assume that train would stay the backwards train forever...effectively reducing their normal operating capacity. That along with the idea of Viper probably being very painful backwards is good enough reason not to do it.
  22. I guess, but I personally haven't experienced a good scare from sliders.
  23. As if online dating weren't bad enough, it seems Natalie has been involuntarily cast into the TPR dating world. I'd rather be killed off than be subjected to that creepiness...
  24. I just think it depends too much on the right scare scenario at the right time and doesn't allow me to maximize my scares. I already have limited actors and feel that the sliders are a waste of my time. And anytime I see them at theme parks I can see them coming...there's no surprise factor, IMO.
  25. Viper could be run backwards but the mechanics under the train and on the track would not align and this would not work.
