  1. Those colors are atrocious, oh well, glad MM finally got a new flat. It fits so well with the green of Riddler's
  2. I would assume it would be similar to SFFT and Wonder Women. Hopefully someone post.
  3. They're making moves across the street for future park expansion. The Church of Reflections is moving to a Lutheran Church. That area and the picnic are next to it could be used to relocate the hotel, opening up a large area to the south of the park. Not by 2020, tho. They do have a considerable amount of space south of Ghostrider already where they house the haunt mazes. But, they've been pretty adamant about NOT destroying the aesthetic of Ghost Town. The abandoned a large coaster back there for that very reason a few years ago. I DO think the park will eventually expand southward. With Disney pricing, the HUGE tourism number OC gets (48 million a year!), Star Wars land coming all add up to Knott's having an unprecedented opportunity with the right investment to become one of the biggest players in the theme park industry...will Cedar Fair spend that money, tho? They moved the church for more parking since they lost some with adding on to Soak City. Don't see them spending massive amounts of money to demolish one hotel and build a new one. They will never be one of the biggest players in the industry. The crowd taking vacations to Disneyland are likely not going to KBF. They are a locals park and will continue to grow that business. Knott's is the top park in the Cedar Fair chain in terms of attendance. It beats Cedar Point, Kings Island, and Canada's Wonderland by a fair margin. It also beats all Six Flags parks and all parks not named Disney or universal. When Disney added Cars land a few years ago, Knott's attendance dipped. The California Adventure park and Knott's are in direction compotition for the same customer. Yes, and that customer is locals. Disney can survive without them. Knotts has grown their business around them. People bought Disney passes/one day tickets instead of Knott’s. I suppose everyone’s definition of “major player” is different. Knotts has great attendance for what it is, but it’s not a true destination park to the point they’d demolish a perfectly functional hotel and build a comparable one. That would probably go down as the largest capital project in cedar fairs history. Don’t think there are many people planning a vacation that says “let’s go to knotts and add on Disney.” It’s the other way around for visitors. Just my opinion that major industry player means more than really good locals park. Since theme parks are a business, Knott's from an attendence stand point is #1 for Cedar Fair's P&L. Based on the attendance it is more than a locals park. When you are getting over 4 million visitors per year. They just got a new coaster this year and the rumor is another new coaster for 2020, so Cedar Fair is putting money into this park for a reason.
  4. I got 15 rides on the 3 days I visited in May. I must say that I perferred the back row the best. 2 of the rides were front row. I did about half to slightly over half in the back 2-3 rows and I found the back row to be the most enjoyable ride. But then again I thought the back row was the best for SV and Maverick as well. I like one of the back 3 rows for Magnum. I like the front row for TTD and Gatekeeper front what it is worth.

  6. If you are a coaster nut, Kings Dominion would be the choice. I think Intimidator 305 and Twisted Timbers puts that park over BGW. If you like theming then you should choose BGW as KD is just your typical Cedar Fair park while BGW has really good theming.

  8. I don't see them getting rid of Scream. It fits in with their theming of the scream pounk district. It is what it is, an average floorless coaster. It is better than Rougarou, but not as good as Medusa to put it into perspective.
  9. I've seen said coaster given the (not so) flattering nickname of Despera-DON'T. Is it rougher than the other two Arrow Hypers? I perferred Magnum XL-200 by a pretty ride margin. I really find Magnum enjoyable. Desperado in my opinion was OK. It provies some airtime and enjoyable moments but that is offset by a pretty painful ride to be honest. Is it pure garbage like a Green Lantern at SFMM, or T3 at Kentucky Kingdom- NO, but it is one of the weaker hypers you will ride.
  10. Here is the rankings for me: 1. Steel Vengeance- Clear #1 for me. 2. Maverick- Clear #2. 3. Millennium Force- 4. Top Thrill Dragster 5. GateKeeper 6. Magnum XL-200 7. Raptor 8. Valravn 9. Blue Streak 10. Gemini 11. Rougarou 12. Wicked Twister 13. Iron Dragon 14. Cedar Creek Mine Ride 15. Pipe Scream 16. Corkscrew- Since Six Flags Magic Mountain is my home park, here is how I would do a combine ranking between the two parks: 1. Steel Vengeance 2. Maverick 3. Twsited Colossus 4. Millenium Force 5. X2 6. Tatsu 7. Top Thrill Dragster 8. GateKeeper 9. Magnum XL-200 10. Raptor 11. Full Throttle 12. Batman the Ride 13. Valravn 14. Appcalypse 15. Superman 16. Goliath 17. Blue Streak 18. Scream 19. Gemini 20. Ninja 21. Rougarou 22. Wicked Twister 23. Viper 24. Iron Dragon 25. Riddler's Revenge 26. Revolution 27. Gold Rusher 28. Cedar Creek Mine Train 29. Pipe Scream 30. Corkscrew 31. Green Lantern
  11. I rode Desperado last Labor Day weekend. I think they shut it down in January. Rumor has it that they ran it over Memorial Day weekend, but didn't update the site. They seem to be following the Six Flags way of communicating.
  12. Based on an interview with Cedar Fair CEO, Knotts is one of the 4 parks the company is really focusing in on to develop and expand. It would not surprise me for Knott's to get another coaster in the next few years. The other 3 parks are Cedar Point, Carowinds, and California Great America.
  13. I would hardly call these the parks marquee rides. To be far those are TC, X2, Tatsu, Goliath, YOLOcoaster, and Superman. I would say that the rest of the roller coasters support those. If one of those 6 were down for any length of time during peak season, that would be an issue. YOLOcoaster has been down to 1 train for months. All I’ve heard from my leads and supervisors is that they are behind schedule and that the second one should be back Soon. Yay summer refurbs. Yeah I have noticed that it has been 1 train the last few times I was at the park. I figured it would be back to 2 for the summer season. I always do this ride first and I am a gold member. I don't think I would wait for it unless I could knock it out right away.

If one of those 6 were down for any length of time during peak season, that would be an issue. I was speaking more as a whole, not this year or any year specifically. The last time I was at the park was mid-July 2013, only a year after Lex Luthor opened, however Lex was being rehabbed the entire week I was there. That's about as marquee as it got at the time, and that's not the only example over the years. Even a simple heads up would be nice, like Bill said, so it's not a roll of the dice. Six Flags does say that an attraction is temporarily closed on the website. Of course this is not always 100% accurate. Currently Green Lantern and the Revolution are noted that they are closed.

  16. They should replace it with a premier ride sky rocket 2 similar to Electric eel.
  17. As long as Twisted Colossus, X2, and Tastu are open and the crowds are small I'm happy when I visit the park.
  18. Is anybody really missing Green Lantern? I think you want it open until Revolution is back up.
  19. Did SFMM last July 4th and it wasn't that bad. I try to go on days were their is big event to avoid large crowds. Like Disneyland on Superbowl Sunday is the BEST! I think majority of the crowd will be at HH since it's HOT in the Santa Clarita Valley and people need to cool off. I couldn't make it back east to visit family for Thanksgiving this past year as I went back for 2 weeks at Christmas time, so I went out to the park for Thanksgiving. It did have more people than I was expecting. but it was managable.
  20. Storm Chaser at Kentucky Kingdom... I saved the best for last at that park. I preferred Storm Chaser over Lightning Run at Kentucky Kingdom.
  21. I would suggest going the 9th or the 10th. The next best day may be the 8th as I have had luck with the Sunday's after a holiday week, If you are a gold member you will be able to get into the park 10 minutes early. Go straight to Full Throttle and knock this out right away. The line gets longer than most other rides and will stay that way. After Full Throttle, I go towards Goliath, Twisted Colossus, and Scream I will ride Goliath once and then I will get a few rides on Twisted Colossus before the queue starts to fill up. Continue to work around the park in the counter clock wise direction, hitting up Batman, Justie League, Riddler's, etc.You want to end up at X2 between 2:30-4. A lot of times X2 will be cleared out during the afternoon. Most people start at X2 and then return later in the day. I find that if you get to it in the late afternoon a lot of time the line is 15 minutes or less on most Sunday's. Sometimes it is empty. Tatsu. Apcalypse, and Superman will generally have medium lines. They could range anywhere from 10-45 minutes depending on the day. On the 4th they will be at least an hour.
  22. I liked the Voyage the best during my trip about 10 days ago. I thought Raven was the second best wooden roller coaster. Legend came in third. All three are good rides and with Thunderbird, Holiday World doesn't have a bad coaster in the park. Really need to make it to HoliWood nights and ride the trim less Voyage. Currently the Voyage is my favorite wooden roller coaster ahead of Goliath (SFGA), Ghost Rider, Gold Striker, and Mystic Timbers. Will get to Lightning Rod in August and will need to ride El Toro next year.
  23. Goto Starbucks at 8AM. Get you coffee to wake you up. Walk out of Hotel Breakers main enterance and head to the right of the parking lot towards Magnum. You will want to start going over there about 8:30, earlier on a busy day, and maybe 8:40ish on a not so busy day. Go through the metal detectors and get checked in. You will then see a lot of people waiting. Spend the 10 minutes from 8:50-9 to do some stretching in to get ready for the 1K race back to SV. As the National Anthem ends turn and take off with the crowd. Head straight to SV and hopefully you get in the first 8 trains with no operational delays, this will allow you to get a ride or two in on Maverick after you ride SV.
  24. Lightning Run at Kentucky Kingdom. Will try to make it out to SFMM this Sunday.
