  1. Oh boy, the one's I have been on from the top of my head, Blue Streak at Cedar Point and Raptor turn left. I believe the Cedar Creek Mine Ride does too. The Red side on the Racer at Kings Island turns left. So does Banshee. Thunder Run at Kentucky Kingdom. Jack Rabbit at Kennywood turns left out of the station, and so does the left side of the Kennywood Racer. Wild Eagle at Dollywood, Tennessee Tornado. Plus the one's like Millennium Force, Maverick, Diamondback, and Top Thrill Dragster that don't turn at all...
  2. Ok, thanks guys. Looks like the Comfort Inn is the best choice. I did look at the Princeton area and there are some options out there and it's not too far out of the way. So i'm feeling better about it. Thanks again!

  4. Im planning a trip to SFGA and for the life of me I can’t find a decent cheap(er) place to stay. I know people will say to stay with choice but based on the reviews the choice hotels don’t look good. Econo Lodge is usually my go to but the one closest to the park sounds disgusting. Is this one of the times I’m just going to have to fork over a little more cash? Where have you stayed when visiting this park? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  6. Awesome, thanks. Going down to Florida that weekend, and I was originally going to leave the day after Easter, but I think I'll check it out if it's going to be dead.
  7. 1. What is the best park visit you had in 2017? Kennywood, because it was my 10 year old cousin's first time on roller coasters and she loved it! 2. Have you ever traveled to a park with a specific ride in mind only for it to be closed all day? No 3. GCI or Gravity Group? Pick one. GCI, not even close 4. How many different parks did you visit in 2017? Cedar Point, Kings Island, Michigan's Adventure, Kennywood, Kings Island, Kentucky Kingdom, Holiday World, Dollywood... So 8. 5. How many times did you visit your home park in 2017? I went to Cedar Point at least 30 times. 6. What was the first RMC you rode? Storm Chaser 7. Best view from the top of a lift? Valravn because you can see the whole park plus the water. 8. What new-for-2018 roller coaster are you most anticipating? Pick one. Steel Vengence... Probably the most excited I have ever been for a new coaster 9. RMC or Intamin? You can only choose one. Intamin because they have a lot more variety and I've only been on 2 RMC's. 10. What was your favorite new-to-you ride of 2017? Lightning Rod 11. Money is no object. You can travel to any park in the world right now by snapping your fingers. Where are you going? My first thought was Magic Mountain, but there is other stuff that I want to do in CA so I have to believe that I will get there someday. But when will I ever be in freaking Utah? Probably never, so I'll say Lagoon... 12. Have you ever made out with someone in a queue line? Yes. Many times during my JR high and high school years. Also got to 2nd in the Mantis (now Rougarou) queue when it was late, empty and dark, and got to 3rd in the Gemini queue under the same circumstances... 13. What is the last coaster that changed your top 10? Lightning Rod. Went to #1 after Millennium Force held that title since it was built. 14. Disney or Universal? Universal. I have absolutely no desire to go to Disney. 15. When is the last time you witnessed someone puke at a park? 2 years ago on Millennium Force. A young teen girl (14/15ish) got out of the train, took 2 steps, bent over, and puked her guts out all over her shoes. 16. How many new credits did you pick up in 2017? If you don't count, take your best guess... 14. 17. You're at Magic Mountain. You have a one hour ERT session on ONE coaster of your choice. You choose... Hard to say since I've never been there, but Twisted Colossus looks like it's easily their best ride. 18. Name a coaster or ride that you passionately dislike. Mantis at Cedar Point for obvious reasons... If it has to be one that still exists I have to say Iron Dragon because it sucks and that would be the perfect place to put a B&M flyer... 19. What is the most amount of money you've spent on a Fast Pass? 90-something 20. Skyscreamers or Windseekers? Skyscreamers, even though I've never been on one... 21. What is your most recent B&M credit? Wild Eagle at Dollywood 22. Best adult beverage at a theme park? (under 21: whats your favorite beverage you can only get at a park?) I don't drink 23. Most irritating coaster nickname/abbreviation? SteVen 24. Butterbeer or Dole Whip? Never heard of either... 25. Favorite steel coaster *under* 100 feet? The Bat at Kings Island 26. What's the best bathroom at your home park? At Cedar Point, anything besides the ones that are right at the front entrance. 27. Nighttime ERT on Lightning Rod or all-you-can-eat Cinnamon Bread? You can only choose one. ERT. I make that Cinnamon Bread all the time... 28. If it were in your power, what coaster would you relocate to Knoebels? Son of Beast if I am allowed to bring it back from the dead... if not, I would have to say Shivering Timbers from Michigan's Adventure. 29. What is the last thing you remember eating in a theme park? Lumberjack Pizza at Dollywood 30. Your favorite coaster got equipped with on board audio x Spotify. What's your hype track? Nothing. I would rather listen to the wind 31. Name the most disappointing ride you took in 2017. The Voyage at Holiday World. So much hype but the ride sucks. Too rough... 32. Airtime hill or Zero G Roll? Zero G Roll since not all airtime hills actually give airtime. 33. What is your favorite coaster/ride built before 1970? Thunderbolt at Kennywood. 34. What's worse - splashed by malaria lake flume water or dripped on by chain lift grease? Malaria Lake Flume 35. Name an Intamin coaster on your bucketlist! Intimidator 305 36. You just won a 3 day trip with hotel and airfare included. The catch is you have to choose between Disneyworld or Cedar Point. Which do you choose and why? Cedar Point, even though I am there literally all the time. Like I said above I have absolutely no desire to go to a Disney park. 37. Floater or Ejector? Ejector 38. What was your worst park experience of 2017? Holiday World. The wood coasters are too rough which is sad because they have awesome layouts. And Thunderbird wasn't as fun as I expected. Plus it was almost 100 and I almost passed out waiting in line for Thunderbird. 39. Name your favorite coaster under 41 feet tall. Jack Rabbit at Kennywood 40. End your post with an aerial shot of one of your top 5 coasters. The green one...
  8. If one wants Mexican in Detroit I would recommend 2 places: El Barzon, and La Terraza. El Barzon is a traditional Mexican restaurant with good pasta. But La Terraza is by far my favorite. According to my girlfriend (who is Mexican) it is the most authentic Mexican place in Detroit. And it's very unique as a seafood-Mexican restaurant. The owners come from a town in Mexico on the Pacific Ocean. The place also has live singers and bands. I think it doesn't get a lot of notoriety because it isn't located in the "Mexicantown" neighborhood of Southwest Detroit. As a coney enthusiast I can't let this go. Yes, coney's are awesome, I eat them at least 2 times a week. I highly recommend them. To say American Coney Island is for posers is just wrong. American was open before Lafayette. But I do agree that Lafayette is better, both are outstanding even though the service at both kind of sucks sometimes. I actually prefer Duly's Place in SW Detroit over both American and Lafayette because it tastes better IMO, and the service is much better. As far as more stuff to do in Detroit. The city has some of the best Italian restaurants. Roma Cafe in Eastern Market was the best IMO. It was open since 1890 but closed in July when the owner decided to retire. It has since been re-opened by the head chef under the name Amore da Roma. Others that are really good are Mario's, Vince's, and Giovanni's. Mario's is in Midtown right next to the bars that others have recommended. Roma Cafe/ Amore da Roma is literally a 5 minute drive from Midtown. Vince's and Giovanni's are in SW Detroit. Vince's is very casual and laid back. Giovanni's is very high end expensive, and they have/had a dress code, I haven't been there in a while. Frank Sinatra had private party's there. If you're into history I would strongly recommend Greenfield Village in my hometown of Dearborn, MI which is just west of Detroit. They have the Rosa Parks bus, Thomas Edison's lab, Abraham Lincoln's chair from the Ford Theater, JFK's limo, and a bunch of other stuff. Dearborn also has a very large Arabic population and with that comes a bunch of great authentic Arabic restaurants. My favorite is Hamido on Warren Ave. The only downside to the Arabic places is that they do not serve alcohol.
  9. Gemini, thunderbolt, blue streak, the beast, anything that ends in cyclone Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  10. Definitely: Cedar Point, Kings Island, Canada's Wonderland, Michigan's Adventure Probably: Kings Dominion, Carowinds Maybe: Hersheypark, Knoebels, Dorney Park, Six Flags New England, Six Flags Great Adventure, Busch Gardens Williamsburg. The probably's and maybe's were supposed to be 1 big trip but I got my hours cut at work, so I'm not sure I can afford it.
  11. Now i'm actually thinking of getting rid of Waldameer/ Conneaut Lake. Friday after work we could drive to Niagara Falls (about 4 or so hours). I'm going with my GF, my cousin and his wife, so that would be a nice couples thing to do. Then Saturday drive to SFNE. We will have Six Flags passes so we can spend 4/5 hours on Saturday night which would make Sunday a lot less of a rush to get Lake Compounce in and Coney Island. It also may save us from having to buy flash passes at SFNE but I don't know...
  12. Hey everyone, one of the people I will be doing this trip with made a suggestion that I like, but I want to run it by you guys to see what you think. So the idea is to not visit Dorney on Sunday and visit Six Flags New England and Lake Compounce instead. Lake Compounce closes at 8 and I would want to get there by 6 at the latest to get a couple rides on Boulder Dash, and a ride apiece on the Sky Rocket 2 and the other woodie they have. So at SFNE with the most expensive flash passes is it realistic to think that we could ride Superman and Wicked Cyclone at least 3 times, Thunderbolt twice, and Batman, Goliath, Joker, Pandemonium, and the Sky Screamer once in 5 hours? And if we cut it close we can cut out Joker since the same one exists at SFGA... Then since Lake Compounce closes at 8, I was thinking we could drive down to Luna Park and ride the Coney Island Cyclone depending on what time they close that. But I'm imagining/ hoping they would keep that open pretty late. The rest of the trip would follow the same course. Great Advanture on Monday, Knoebels with a preview of Hershey on Tuesday, Hershey on Wednesday, Kings Dominion on Thursday, Busch Gardens on Friday, Carowinds on Saturday, and Camden Sunday on the way home.
  13. I only have 50 credits so there are a ton of coasters on my bucket list, but the following are the ones I am most excited for. Those listed below I am planning on hitting this year... In no particular order: Fury 325 Afterburn Steel Force Intimidator Nitro Fahrenheit Skyrush Phoenix El Toro Twisted Timbers Intimidator 305 Steel Vengence Leviathan Behemoth Those listed below I hope to hit in the near future: Cheetah Hunt Mako Montu Manta Joker- SFDK Tatsu Twisted Colossus X2 Boulder Dash Twisted Cyclone Goliath- SFGA Superman the Ride- SFNE Wicked Cyclone Outlaw Run Coney Island Cyclone Iron Rattler New Texas Giant
  14. 1. Lightning Rod 2. Millennium Force 3. Phantom's Revenge 4. Maverick 5. Storm Chaser 6. Mystic Timbers 7. Diamondback 8. Dueling Dragons- Fire 9. Dueling Dragons- Ice 10. Top Thrill Dragster
  15. Corkscrew at Cedar Point. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  16. 1. Lightning Rod (New) 2. Millennium Force- was #1 overall from when it opened up until a week ago 3. Phantom's Revenge 4. Maverick 5. Storm Chaser (new) 6. Mystic Timbers (new) 7. Diamondback 8. Top Thrill Dragster 9. Raptor 10. Banshee
  17. I like your idea of flipping Monday and Tuesday, I'm going to do that. I am not a credit whore and couldn't care less about riding Laff Trakk. I believe it was you who said I should ride Backlot early at Kings Dominion, I wasn't even planning on riding it. I've already been on it at Kings Island and and I've been on some merry go rounds that are more fun. Maybe some people would think I'm a credit whore because I'm going to Conneaut Lake, but I love sketchy wooden coasters. Which is also why love your idea of Camden park. But back to Hershey, if they have a preview and it's free that is definitely something I will do. Then I could possibly leave Hershey early on Wednesday and get to Fredericksburg that night. And if Hershey is really busy on Wednesday I can still drive to Frederick. MD and then take the 2.5 hour trip around DC traffic to KD. I like both options. Now I have some concerns about the Six Flags Flash Pass system. They have 3 levels, regular, gold and platinum. You say I will be fine with the regular but all that does is reserve my spot based on the actual wait time. I don't see how that helps unless I'm allowed to make multiple reservations. If that's not good enough can I upgrade to a higher level?
  18. Again, thank you everyone for the comments and suggestions. For those of you questioning the 4 hour trip from Detroit to Erie, I live about 20 minutes south of Detroit. So a 4 hour drive from the actual city of Detroit to Erie is probably not possible, but from my house it is, I've done it... This is the updated trip based on all of your recommendations. Saturday June 2nd: My house to Waldameer Park and Conneaut Lake. Drive 2 hours (or further) east after Conneaut Lake and find a hotel. Sunday June 3rd: Dorney Park, and stay in Allentown. Monday June 4th: Knoebels, then drive back to Allentown hotel. Tuesday June 5th: Allentown hotel to Great Adventure. After Great Adventure drive towards Hershey and stay somewhere off I-76 past Philly. Wednesday June 6th: Hersheypark, then drive to Frederick, MD and stay the night. Thursday June 7th: Frederick to Kings Dominion: yes your warnings about DC traffic have been well received... Mapquest gives me an alternate route west of DC to Kings Dominion... the directions are the following: coasterbill... I'm hoping you can give me some feedback here as you seem to know the area very well... South on 15 through Leesburg Right on Lee Hwy Left on Vint Hill Rd Right on 603 (Greenwich rd). That turns into 806, and then 616. Right on Hartwood Rd Left on 17 (Warrenton rd) Then merge south on I-95 toward Kings Dominion Mapquest says that will take about 2 hours and 35 minutes. The other option is to drive the 3+ hours from Hersheypark to Fredericksburg and then have a short drive to Kings Dominion in the morning. Which I could do as I have drove to Kings Island, stayed the whole day, and drove back home the same night many times... Friday June 9th: Busch Gardens Saturday June 10th: Carowinds Sunday June 11th: Home with a pit stop at Camden Park... yes I love that idea!
  19. First of all, thank you everybody so much for all the feedback! Mike240SX- I'm not sure how you came up with 9+ hours of drive time on day 1. Detroit to Erie is 4 hours, it would be less than an hour south from Erie to Conneaut Lake. Then I was going to stay there, or start driving east for a couple hours. So that's 7 hours at the most. Yes, still a lot, but something I could easily do. Waldameer has 2 coasters I want to ride, Conneaut Lake has 1, so I figure I could drive east 2 hours and be in the hotel room before dark. The 10 hour drive home from is something I have done many times. Just last Saturday I left my house at 2 AM and arrived at Dollywood right as the park opened at 11 AM. Stayed at Dollywood until 6 or 7 PM and drove another hour back to Knoxville where my hotel was. Went to Dollywood the following day all day, and drove back to Detroit on Monday. Went to work on Tuesday... Not 10 hours, but close, and I was fine. 10 hours with a lunch and dinner stop is easy for me. Carowinds and Kings Dominion would be the last parks I want to cut out because I305 and Fury325 are the 2 coasters I want to ride the most. And I have a Cedar Fair platinum pass... prospekt88- I did plan on getting a flash pass at Great Adventure. I want to ride the best coasters multiple times, and El Toro 4 or 5 times. Would I get to do that on a Wednesday with a flash pass? Thanks for the heads up on the DC traffic. As I am typing this it's 8:00 AM and mapquest says that it should take less than 4 hours from Baltimore to Busch Gardens when taking traffic into consideration. It also gives an alternate route that would take less than 4 hours by taking 301 the Crain Hwy east of DC and getting on 95 north of Richmond. Is that realistic? I definitely don't want to do Hershey on memorial day so I'm thinking of doing Dorney on Sunday, Knoebels on Monday, and Hershey on Tuesday. A.J.- I've already been to Kennywood. Thanks for the info on the line skipping system at Busch Gardens. bill_s - I like the idea of doing Dorney on Sunday, Knoebels on Monday, and Hershey on Tuesday. Thank You! I'm going to switch that up. ArgoZ - I'm at Cedar Point and Kings Island all the time, (I have the Cedar Fair platinum pass) and I was at Dollywood last week. Next year I will be at Cedar Point opening weekend to ride Steel Vengence! I've been on road trips before, but never one where it was strictly about amusement parks. I went on one where we went west and visited a bunch of national and state parks where there was a ton of walking/ hiking involved. There were some 8-9 hour drives on that trip after long days of hiking. Then I went on a trip to see a bunch of baseball games. That included a drive from St. Louis to Dallas, and then 2 days later Houston to Atlanta, and the next day Atlanta to Baltimore. I did all the driving. I also went to college in Minnesota and drove the 11 hours to and from school many many times in the 4 years I was there. ytterbiumanalyst- I thought about moving it back a week, but aside from Sunday, and Monday would it matter in terms of crowd size? Plus I'm now planning on hitting Dorney on Sunday, which puts Knoebels on Memorial Day like you suggested, and Hershey on Tuesday. Maybe Dorney will be busy on Sunday, and if really busy I don't mind getting fast lane. As for this gold pass, is it like the Cedar Fair platinum pass where you can get into all Six Flags parks? Because I am also planning on going to Great America in Chicago at some point next year and I will going to Atlanta for work in July. So I figure I can make some time for Six Flags Over Georgia.
  20. Hello everyone, I'm Andrew and I was directed to this site by someone I met at Dollywood over the weekend. This looks like a fantastic site, and I'm excited to be part of it. So let me get to the point, I have been planning a trip to go to different parks for a few months now, and I think it is pretty well planned, but I'd like to run it by the people on here to get some feedback to possibly make it better. The following parks are what I identified as possibilities: Waldameer in Erie, PA, Conneaut Lake Park in PA just down the road from Waldameer, Knoebels, Hersheypark, Dorney Park, Six Flags New England, Lake Compounce, Quassy, Luna Park/Coney Island, Six Flags Great Adventure, Six Flags America, Kings Dominion, Busch Gardens Williamsburg, and Carowinds. I've already been to Kennywood, so that's why it's not included. I'm going to have 9 days to do this where on the 9th day I will have to be home, so obviously I can't fit all those parks into 9 days. It will start on a Saturday and end 9 days later on Sunday. It can be any 9 days up until July 23rd. After July 23rd I can no longer have this time off. So obviously I want to go when parks will be less busy and I was thinking May 26th to June 3rd would be best. So this is the schedule I have planned as of right now: Sat May 26th: Leave Detroit and do Waldameer and Conneaut Lake. Sun May 27th: Knoebels Mon May 28th: Hersheypark Tue May 29th: Dorney Park Wed May 30th: Great Adventure Thu May 31st: Busch Gardens... I understand that it's 5.5 hours between Great Adventure and Busch Gardens, but I figure I can drive 2, maybe 2.5 hours at night after Great Adventure, stay somewhere in Baltimore, and then drive the rest in the morning. I also understand that I am passing Kings Dominion to go to Busch Gardens, but my thinking is that Busch Gardens will not be as busy on a Thursday, and I can always get fast lane at Kings Dominion, and I am not aware of any fast lane at Busch Gardens. Fri June 1st: Kings Dominion Sat June 2nd: Carowinds Sun June 3rd: Drive home to Detroit. The parks I have the most interest in hitting are Knoebels, Hersheypark, Great Adventure, Kings Dominion, Busch Gardens, and Carowinds so I would appreciate any feedback to include those 6 parks on the trip. I'm also looking for some insight on how busy each park could be on the days I have listed. Thanks! Andrew
