  1. I would actually prefer they do that just to rub it in.
  2. They will probably have cores cut out for stanchions to build an overflow on the midway.
  3. Shows how little I know about coasters on the other side of the world.. Pretty fitting for this park though.
  4. This year a partnership was announced with Dubai Parks & Resorts, so....
  5. ^History is reality in the case of SFMM. Regarding the parking stripes we still can't seem to get over...Does anyone know if they painted over the parking stripes that have been under Colossus since it opened in the 70's?
  6. ^I imagine it will...at a higher price. But it's pennies to Disney, and they'd be foolish to not get more real estate in the resort corridor.
  7. I bet he had to do a lot of digging to find that info!
  8. I think they have a different act in their every summer. I remember a terrible magician and a Chinese acrobat troupe in the last few years?
  9. Like that they are doing more than a paint job to the are around Colossus!
  10. I just wanted to quote this because I never thought I'd see Dave post this! OK, now back to discussing how good Twisted Colossus looks!
  11. Looks like they took their own wooden train design and modified it for this...
  12. Just to clarify, if that comment was directed towards me... This is a hobby I still love. I am extremely excited to have an RMC coaster a half hour drive away from where I live at a price as ridiculously cheap as an SFMM premium pass is. Watching a video of the ride test just doesn't do anything for me to add to the excitement. Robb hit on the bigger point that there is a fine line between excitement and fanaticism.
  13. ^I hope the projection mapping is part of the show and not just "lets watch video clips projected on the castle and main street." To me, projection mapping has become so common place it has lost some of the wow factor unless it really sells that illusion of "lets transform this thing into something completely different but make it look convincing"
  14. If the park is closed and security asks you to leave...LEAVE!!! Feedmill road is also SFMM's private property, so please stay off of that as well. I'm with Robb...testing video and pictures are really not that exciting. We're not talking about some top secret new ride technology here. We're talking about a coaster. That opens in less than a month. That you've already seen a rendering of the POV.
  15. ^That's what they have been saying for the last...uhm...how many years?
  16. I've seen experiences where you can operate construction equipment, but never a place where you can ride them. This is seriously awesome!
  17. You have to give them some credit for using vine correctly---short video teases. Probably the best use of social media I've seen from the park yet. With the press tour tomorrow, I imagine that is when they will release more B-roll.
  18. Track completed April 18th. First cycle April 28th. Didn't exactly start testing over night.
  19. I'm a marketing major, and from everything I have studied and watched (both in and out of class), there's A LOT of companies that are still floundering around with social media. Which sucks, because a fun thing like SFMM could really take advantage of all the social media platforms and run with it, especially since their guest demographic is primarily teens and young adults, and are the sole users of the platforms. This is true. Many places still have that "old school" mentality. I'd say theme parks are one of the worst industries as far as that is concerned.
  20. I'm sure a temporary/rental solution could easily be rigged up.
  21. As far as I can tell, when you tag Six Flags Magic Mountain, it doesn't even show up on their page. So instead of just doing updates themselves and engaging their fans directly, they rely on other media outlets to do it, tag them, and then they have to share it. It's hard to completely fault them, since this is by far the most construction tours for any project they've ever offered. However, at the end of the day it really does come of as an old school marketing/PR person still trying to figure out how to use Facebook, twitter, instagram, etc. They're missing a HUGE opportunity to better engage their fans online.
  22. ^Before that video, they had gone since April 18th without posting anything. They don't appear to be responding to people's comments either. Just looks like typical robot posted stuff to me.
  23. It's not even confirmed Colossus was testing today?
