Moreys Piers Discussion Thread

Screamscape hasn't updated anything about it since 2014. Safe to say that it's probably not leaving the drawing board. Hope I am wrong though. -
KMG new rides in 2012 and 2013
Jew replied to Michi2010's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
^As it has been said elsewhere on the forums a couple of times, the business model is totally different. Independent owners all charge their own admission per ride (usually $10-15 USD). Our system in the U.S. of all you can ride wristband promotions and companies owning multiple rides doesn't encourage huge investment. -

I love that your trip report is nothing but geeking out as a tourist. -
I agree as I also defend the park way to much. Shes doing the best she can and trust me if silver tags dont like it they will speak with her. Its 3:30 now in Valencia and sky's are turning ugly. I bet nobody at the park is reading this but I would be seeking shelter right about now or just pack in in and come back on Sunday the 19th for Bring A Friend Free Day. Its going to get wet really quick. Trash bag covering controls > Ride down for water damaging control. Hopefully after seeing this the park will get a cover made, but I'll give some credit where it's due for making the effort. Tacky? Sure. But for a short term solution to a problem they might not have even realized was a problem until today...it works.

If one link breaks, you can't just put that one link back and consider it done. Assuming all other links in the chain are fine, the whole chain has to be re-threaded (for lack of a better way to explain it). But before the chain can be re-installed, the remaining links have to be inspected as well---which might explain the delay if they found more issues.

I don't think any park is immune to an occasional full trash can outside of Tokyo. The problem with SFMM is that EVERY single time I go I see the same ones (the beat up disgusting ones in the parking lot) full. In the park the ride queue lines are still neglected, but the midway ones seems better taken care of.

I'm pretty sure not all billion people live in the same place. If I recall correctly, travel within China also isn't as easy as just hitting the road for a road trip as well. -

It's not main street. It's "Mickey Avenue." -

I looked it up. Still can't figure out why he keeps getting quoted. Robb & Elissa could provide much better/honest commentary. His company website looks like it hasn't changed since 1990 & the majority of the projects listed on there seem like they were from the 90's as well... -
I feel like that was more the creative direction of the maze than the story itself. I haven't seen a single episode of Walking Dead, but I still saw a story progress throughout the maze. I think Dracula Untold just didn't do a good job of progressing the story, so the feeling you were left with was "what the heck is going on?" instead of "ohh...this is the story!"

Every time I read an article quoting Dennis Spiegel I always wonder who the heck he is. I'm pretty sure all he does it get quoted by media outlets now. That being said...definitely curious to see how the park turns out. Chinese parks certainly aren't known for their operation or having the best clientele... -
consumer fireworks can only have 60g of powder per shell or 500g total per cake. The diameter of the shells are just marketing gimmicks, since no matter what that's the load can't legally exceed those limits.

Custom Coasters International in retrospect
Jew replied to sirspud's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
If you could just take their layouts and combine it with RMC or Intamin's track...you'd have the perfect ride. Ultimately in terms of maintenance, parks got what they paid for. They built great rides for cheap, so it's not surprising at all they didn't age well unless tons of money was invested in them. -
Consumer stuff or professional?

California Great America (CGA) Discussion Thread
Jew replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Yeah the paper avoided mentioning the park, saying "Cedar Fair park near San Francisco" or something, which didn't explicitly say it but made it obvious. Same thing with the RMC job posting that gave away the Roar makeover. It just said "Project is in CA" and by process of elimination we know it really can't be anything other than Roar, especially as loose lipped employees at SFDK have been warning guests that Roar will be closing later this year. The CA project could be GhostRider. Knott's GM has talked about celebrating the 50th anniversary of Ghost Town and implied GhostRider would be getting some love.
