  1. ^The issue for the park is that those other tourist trap attractions are all much closer to the actual beach/resorts!
  2. Welcome to the site! We are glad you are posting here and so excited about the Terminator coaster. However, please do be sure to read our POSTING RULES thread. Be sure to pay attention to rule #5, regarding posting for postings sake.
  3. So where exactly does the $40 price come from then?
  4. ^^I'm just saying that the facts you bring to the table in trying to prove Disney "forces" you to pay for fastpass are weak. It's not a fair comparison when you are comparing a full price 1-day admission at Disney to discounts/promotions @ SFMM. Otherwise it is just as fair to say that Disney is a MUCH better deal and not passing on the costs of fastpass at all, since "normal" people can just as easily decide to wait until their birthday to visit and get in free! It's not like that promotion isn't well known/taken advantage of either. I'll leave it at this: you said yourself that it's totally cool to pay more for a premium product. In case you haven't noticed, Disney is a premium product in the theme park industry. You can try to try to spin it all you want, but the reality is Fastpass is a free service in the eyes of consumer. Nobody is going to come storming into City Hall demanding some of their money back because SFMM is so "considerate" that they give guests the option of paying for a similar service or not. Your backhanded comment trying to prop up Q-bot vs. Fastpass has to be the most ridiculous "justification" I've heard for the Q-bots.
  5. ^One little thing you forgot to mention in your calculations. For the guest who doesn't buy their ticket online, the normal price of admission to SFMM is $59.99. So for only $9 more, you get fastpass. If only the Q-bot's were priced like that. Or better yet, going free on your b-day AND getting fastpass is the best deal in town! I'm also a little bit confused... You're telling me I can go to Disneyland for $69 and get fastpass. Or... I can go to Magic Mountain for $73 and have fastpass. Or save a whole $3 vs. Disneyland if I bring a friend! But it's totally cool to pay more to get the same product, because SFMM is so kind that they let me have the option to decide if I want to wait in all the lines or not. Anyways...not to further derail the thread: I too recommend DLR on Saturday and SFMM on Monday. SFMM will be dead, but there is a chance some things might be down due to staff (since much of their staff are minors and will still be in school!).
  6. ^I would guess that the Mickey head was moved to be part of the new lagoon show. Regarding Paradise Pier...even though it was the "best" area of the park, it also summed up part of the reason why DCA flopped: it still wasn't anywhere close to what you could find next door at Disneyland. I think they are overhauling this section first because they know it's the best/most popular section of the park and want to send the message of "you think this is nice....wait until you see the whole park when we are done!!!"
  7. I bet any of the guests inconvienced by this could have gone to guest relations, where the staff was probably more than happy to give them some cheese to go with their comp ticket/refund/whatever other form of recovery they had to solve the problem. ...And that would be just as good as keeping the park open in the guests eyes.
  8. Rain=excuse for the park to close when business isn't what they projected. NEVER go to KBF in the rain.
  9. Here's the problem for KBF: despite all the "differences" that may exist, the reality is HHN and Haunt are direct competitors. And KBF is clearly scared.
  10. I think what she's trying to say is that HHN is more than just a "get scared by a monster sliding/popping out/etc" event, whereas Haunt is largely dependent upon that. There's nothing wrong with either type of scare.
  11. Wolfgang Pucks on Citywalk has bacon wrapped meatloaf.
  12. Keep the awesome TR's coming...Fenway is at the top of my "must visit" stadiums. Hopefully I'll be able to squeeze in a visit this season...
  13. Technical correction: all tournament guns are capable of firing 10+ bps. It's all in how fast the person can pull their trigger. Velocity refers to how fast each ball is going (usually capped between 280-320fps depending on the tournament and field).
  14. ^^^The maze designs are nearly finalzed by March. I'm sure they have already started constructing new props/figures already. ^^It's not a stretch to assume the auditions will be handled poorly. Trust me. 10 years ago there wasn't auditions. It was more like 15 years ago...before Cedar Fair ownership.
  15. That's not a GP trip report. How many "GP" guests would know all that detailed info on the rides?
  16. ^Question for you: have you worked Haunt before? I don't think you can really understand how much of a negative effect this could have upon Haunt unless you have worked there. The majority of the street monsters have a nick name, pick their own costumes (since Knott's themselves are the ones who make almost every costume the same!!!), and just go out and have a great time. Many of them don't have "back stories" or play a character. But they are still awesome monsters. Knott's is risking alienating a lot of their best talent with this audition process if it is not handled correctly.
  17. 1. It's awesome that they are so afraid of HHN. 2. Depending on how the audition process works, this could either go really well or really bad for the park. Not many of the monsters are actually actors! Many of the monsters you speak of that have created their characters, made their own costumes, etc. are just really good at sliding/scaring/harassing. Acting is foreign to them. A good friend of mine who can be considered a "famous" monster told me "crap man, I might not do Haunt this year if the auditions are serious! I can't act!" For me personally, I've spent 6 years in mazes busting my ass...and to be honest, I've never really "acted." But I haven't heard a single complaint either, since I was always inside busting my ass making guests scream/cry/laugh. 3. Don't place all the blame on the lazy monsters. The management of knotts have been enablers. They let the lazy talent problem spiral out of control by letting politics play such a huge role in how things are done behind the scenes. I'm not even sure auditions are going to solve the problem, as the people who will be doing the auditions are the same ones who have been picking all those horrible monsters for streets in the first place! Just as one example...they dropped the 5-years in a maze requirement before you could get streets so they could hook up all their friends, family, people who work build (it's well known that's a shortcut to streets), and so on.
  18. ^That's how a majority of corporations do business! If they were to get a loan, it would solve the problem currently crippling the company: owing $300 million by August.

    email Dan?

No need to have an FAQ, just e-mail him and ask for yourself!!!
  20. ^^^^A giant empty plot of land in a prime location is always going to be a valuable asset. Obviously it's current value is down, but as soon as the economy rebounds...the "theoretical value" (as in, "this land is super valuable because you can theoretically build a bunch of houses, another giant mall, mixed use, offices, etc.) will shoot right back up to a ridiculous level!
  21. ^^^The developer needs to be able to maintain the flexibility to have the project ready to go as soon possible when things eventually do fall into place. They're never going to sign a long term lease.
  22. Every field has different rules depending on what their insurance will allow! I've seen as low as 10, or some fields as high as 14.
  23. No thanks. They're owned by the same people who own Hollywood Sports Park, and I hate the way that place is run (Field Paint Only+a-hole refs=FAIL).
  24. ^^I'm only basing the caption on what I saw on that night. It was obvious that CP3 wanted no part of anything Byron Scott was saying that night. I also didn't pay anywhere close to face value for the tickets (still probably way more than the face value of your tickets though!). Again, craigslist is your friend! ^^^^ Regarding Staples Center, you are correct Scott. The ring of suites goes almost all the way around. The club level restaurant fills in the rest of the space though, so you really are a mile away if you sit in the 300 section. You are also correct in saying that it is a very nice modern arena, aside from the 300 level being so high up. The rest of the seats are great. The only thing that seems a little dated now is the scoreboards/ribbons, which haven't been updated since the building opened in 1999.
