  1. ^Dude, let it go. It's already been established that a lap bar can serve as the restraint on a vertical loop. In this case, you'll notice all the guests were holding on for dear life, because that is the only way the lap bar can keep them restrained when stuck upside down. Hence the reason why Premier rides have the shin pads---so riders are restrained no matter the circumstances (such as dive loops).
  2. I wonder how structurally sound that place still is? I'm not an engineer, so I have no idea if the structure sitting there exposed to the elements for 3 years would mean they will have to start from scratch again or not?
  3. We saw the iPod's in use when I visited last week. It appears their main function is to replace turnstiles in scanning old tickets without RFID. I'm sure when MyMagic+ is fully launched, they will remain in place as a backup to the mickey readers and complement the system to allow CM's to scan guests quicker when lines back up.
  4. ^^^The physics of a vertical loop have not changed. However, the physics of a dive loop (or whatever we are calling that thing) are very different. The shin pad is the primary restraint on Premier rides.
  5. They'd probably make more money from having the niners pay them to keep the park closed. It would only really hurt them during Haunt, but that can be worked around with early games or road games.
  6. They have been performing in the park for the last 3 years now.
  7. They just took the renderings for Echelon and made it all Asian looking. I doubt the final product will resemble that.
  8. Not going to lie...I'd much rather the park keep spending money on new credits for me, rather than trains for a ride that I barely ever ride. They ride would still suck without OTSR's, since it is trimmed as well.
  9. At least we know Royal Caribbean should see about a 1000% increase in the sales of bud light on the island.
  10. I hope it is successful, but usually when a project requires all sorts of "smoke and mirrors" such as anticipated tax rebates to get investors to believe they will get their money back...it's not a good sign.
  11. ^Stardust/currently some framing for the canceled Echelon Place project. Frontier is still an empty lot. It was supposed to be a recreation of the Plaza Hotel in New York, but the developers bought high [$1.2 BILLION] and then the economy tanked.
  12. They are definitely popular, but the lines are never "insanely long" at USH. Disney's merchandise is still 1000x better for one key reason IMO: most of it is park specific. The majority of the merchandise at Universal is generic to both parks, though there are some cool items for the properties they license. That even appears to be the case in Florida, with most of the stuff just saying "Universal Studios." I also dig the uniforms of the employees.
  13. LIM technology has advanced quite a bit since the first batch of Premier launched coasters popped up 10 years ago. They are MUCH more energy efficient and also smaller in size. If they were concerned about their power bill, Roaring Rapids would have been the ride torn out. The pumps for that ride actually consume the most energy in the park now that S:TE got more efficient LSM's.

  15. ^The DeLorean is inside the NBC Universal Experience. That's what John was referring to.
  16. ^...Just needs to find $25 million in financing (which he will probably get..question is, will they be able to pay it back?).
  17. I would imagine that the system will allow anyone to reserve fastpasses, but also make you verify at some point you are actually a ticket holder so you don't clog up the system. It's not exactly difficult to say "purchase your ticket by this time...enter your barcode to verify."
  18. ^Definitely. I imagine that the internet cafe/internet packages available on ships have to be one of the highest grossing things on ships! I know each cruise I've taken that I've checked the internet at least every other day (if not more).
  19. The first rule of word filters is never talk about word filters.
  20. Considering the high turnover rate with the people in his department (they jump ship for other parks/better companies as quickly as possible), I'm guessing he is not very well liked...
  21. Wish I stayed in Orlando a few days longer to see this! Very cool!
  22. I hope they find a way to keep it (obviously with a reduced footprint)! I thought it was really well done theme park show.
  23. Have you actually been to SFMM on a busy summer day? You definitely feel the effect of all those lower capacity rides. The potential for higher capacity is there if SFMM wanted to spend the money: Goliath, RRv, Tatsu, and Scream are all capable of 1500-1800 with all three trains and a good crew. S:TE could do at least 1000 consistently running both sides with a good crew, B:TR 1000-1200 with 2 trains and a good crew, etc. etc. I know this because that's what we actually did 10 years ago...when people in operations actually cared.
