  1. ^By comparison, the Cowboy Stadium scoreboard has 2.695 million per side. 1 million pixels is a lot for an LED video screen, since the pixels have to be spaced further apart to be able to display the image on such a large scale and still be visible from long distances.
  2. Agreed. I hate it when people base draft picks solely on "measurables." Prospects train non-stop prior to the draft just to do good on those drills, so it's not a very telling sign IMO. Dion Jordan also has injury problems (and had trouble shedding blocks at times), so I was very surprised to see him taken so high...but I guess Miami fell in love with his combine performance. No doubt a healthy Jarvis Jones is a steal for the Steelers if his neck is no longer an issue.
  3. Time to start growing beards! Who does everyone have this year?
  4. ^Not sure how he fits in Chip Kelly's system, but as a USC fan I really hope it works out. Eagles are clearly getting ready to end the Michael Vick era, now it is just a matter of figuring out who stays out of the remaining 4 QB's they have on the roster. The Jets are stuck with Sanchez for one more year whether they like it or not (cutting him only saves them 500k in cap space), so it will be very interesting to see how things play out.
  5. It would have taken so long and cost so much money, that it made absolutely no sense. It needed to be a complete rebuild from both the inside and outside. They would have had to pay staff more, bring in a new management team, redo the training program, upgrade the food offerings, fix/maintain all the infrastructure in disrepair, and still add new family friendly attractions... Or... Make an investment in a new coaster every year and let the money start pouring in.
  6. Jack is part of the "good old boys club," so I would have mixed feelings if he came back. On one hand, I don't want to see Cedar Fair revert to their old ways. On the other hand, I have to give him credit for how involved he was with the day-to-day operations at Knott's when he was there. In fact, during Haunt, he even ran the basketball game at the front of the park just for fun!
  7. I think this will also help the park differentiate itself from Wet'N'Wild. Instead of having to fight for the same guests on their opening summer, now Cowabunga Bay will have the "new hotness" spotlight to itself next summer!
  8. ^Yup. And that was probably the most coverage said crappy ACC has gotten for their football team since Calvin Johnson was there.
  9. ^Yeah, I think a lot of the bigger award shows and more current "top 40" acts started going there, which left Gibson to fight for scraps however they could. The Spanish shows would sell out, but there just wasn't enough of them to go around.
  10. I bet this non profit group is just a cover for the former owners to buy the park again tax free this time.
  11. If Lane Kiffin or anyone on his staff had done that, ESPN would spend 10 minutes ripping him for it.
  12. It is a great sounding venue with no bad seats...just wasn't booking very well with anything other than award shows, international acts, and radio station concerts.
  13. Wet'N'Wild looks like it is going to charge for parking & tube rental as well.
  14. Sounds like lots of exciting things are ahead for USH. They've already started on expanding the Jurassic Parking garage, have the new plaza area coming this summer, and Despicable Me next summer...and that's only the beginning!
  15. I suspect they'll be back within a few years, especially if HHN keeps growing.
  16. ^Exactly. Now they will just show up at all the annual shareholder meetings, annoy everyone with their protests, and have any motions they propose shut down. From the prospectus:
  17. I doubt they had a choice. Can't run a train that hasn't had it's specified annual maintenance done.
  18. I don't think securing a construction site is the definition of idiot proof...if you were the foreman of this project, you'd want fences around it too. You need to be able to control your worksite, to make sure materials aren't getting stolen and to make sure the people on your site know what they are doing/where they should be/etc. to avoid any stupid accidents.
  19. ^I'm 27 and have spent plenty of my own money in Orlando. "Value" is all relative, but I certainly never feel like I being ripped off by any of the Orlando parks when I visit.
  20. Take note that Paula BOLDED the word loop in that post. Clearly this is a hint. What else could it mean? I believe now is the time that we should start an amazing rumor. Where do you all think the loop should be installed on The Voyage? --Robb "I'm gonna get in so much trouble now..." Alvey Maybe that was Gravity Group's plan all along. "We can't get these trains to work normally...so let us throw a loop on the ride to make it work!"
  21. This is a park that could REALLY benefit from a mid-sized wooden coaster.
  22. ^He's so rich that his investment group could not the financing they needed, so they had to spend more "out of pocket"...
