PHOTO TR: The Circus, Kennedy Space Center and a Cruise!
taytig replied to disneyfan1313's topic in Photo Trip Report Archive
Elissa: As a former crew member, I think the rule about kids sucks too. It is done for insurance reasons and the fact that the medical staff would not be much help in an emergency with someone that young. But just think - you can take KidTums onthe Magic next summer in California (it's returning for the 10th anniversay). Reed - did you have any pics of the toddler area by the mickey pool - apparently it was to be redone in drydock last year. I am asking because my daughter was not allowed in the pool when we cruised in August, even if she was wearing a swim diaper (she was 16 months at the time). If you have any pics, please PM me and I'll give you email address - I'd love to see what they have done. Taytig -
Tigger hits kid at Disney World
taytig replied to Zen Coaster's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
This is unbelievable. It was obvious from the video that the boy did something and Tigger was trying to get him to stop. The apparent hit looks much more like Tigger trying to get his arms between himself and the guest. Having been in that situation (see screen name), the head doesn't give that much clearance for arm movements and if the back of Tigger gets pulled, you could easily lose your balance, fall or get seriously hurt. They were at a railing and if Tigger did not try and stop the boy, he could have ended up onthe other side of the fence. I think that Disney should hold strong and NOT give the family anything except banning them from the parks! The dad is obviously trying to get something - he sees an opportunity to get some $$. Let's hope Disney gives them a ride out of their parks for good - and don't let the gate hit them on the way out! David -
Rockin' Space Mountain
taytig replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
WOW. I don't post a lot on here - but I do read the boards almost daily and after watching all 3 video links, I feel compelled to respond. I have to say that I am disappointed. I rode it way back in 1997 and it was the first coaster I was on that had a soundtrack and I thought it was great! This version - not so much. Now I haven't ridden it, but the videos make it look terrible. I really don't think it will do much for attendance to the park - a shameful waste of money in my opinion. As for Space Mountain at WDW - I like this version a lot and agree with Robb that it would be amazing with a soundtrack and the cars like DL. It's due for an update - I hope they don't wreck WDW's version. David -
Geauga Lake Discussion Thread
taytig replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I would like to see it come to PCW. We have a park with a bunch of mediocre coasters - why not add another. Plus the lines are always long and this could make some lines a little shorter. They have lots of room (by IJST, Dragon Fire, Wild Beast for example) that would fit a ride like this. People around Toronto would totally get excited about this. Also - PCW has added some sort of attraction every year for the past (Who knows) years, this would be a quick fix to maintain this trend. David -
Who needs a coaster for 2007
taytig replied to Milkchan's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
PCW - they have a good collection of OKAY rides, but nothing to match the US parks. Canada needs some good intamin or maybe something like Thunderhead (doesn't need to be large to be great!) -
Just checked the websites again and it looks like PCW passes for next year are only valid at PCW, with no other options. The other parks seem to have MAXX pass options available. If you buy at Kings Dominion, it is even cheaper for the MAXX pass. It also seems that they are ignoring PCW as the other parks get free parking passes if they renew this season, but not PCW. HMMMMMMM looks like they are ignoring their Canadian Park a bit.....or just not giving us options. Kind of disappointing. - I would spend the money if the option was there.
-
I contacted the park again today about their passes and they do not know any more information than before. I was told that if I purchased an admission ticket to save my receipt and it would be credited towards the price of a pass when they do decide to sell them. I think it may be possible that they will try and make the perks more equitable chain wide - but we'll see. Could they be waiting to do passes and kick off sales with a new attraction announcement? What do you think? I honestly do not know, but they have put something new in every year for the past 15 years (give or take) and there has been no announcement yet.
-
I know that I would probably by an all park pass as Geauga Lake and CP are less than 6 hours from here are PKI is only 8. That would be a great summer trip - hit the 3 US and PCW in a week. Too bad they don't have the foresight to offer this. Also PKI is offering free parking pass if you renew this year - PCW should follow suit.

Paramount Parks after Cedar Fair Acquisition

Dannyboy - you are correct - It is not the best, but it is what we have, and it is not the worst either! Enjoy your days at PCW! -

Screamomatic - you are entitled to your opinion, but it is not a current year one. The thread was asking if anyone has noticed any changes - you have not because you have not been. MCMB -Still rough - PCW's reply - they are working on making some changes but will have to see what happens with CF Skyrider - it's a TOGO standup - in fact standup's in general have a slowing dispatch time. BTW- it is around 3-4 minutes this year, but you wouldn't know this as you have not been. Wildbeast - by far not the roughest wooden coaster - have you been to others in the area - Darien Lake's Predator is a lot worse, even CP's (Mean Steak) is worse . On WB - They have eliminated trim brakes and it is a faster ride - the only really rough spot is the last turnaround - again you would not know this as you have not been. The Flats Cliffhanger is great, Psyclone - good ride, not too intense, but great for the GP, Sledgehammer - again good for the GP - not so great for the enthusiasts, Shockwave was running an intense great program this year - only a 10 minute wait as well - in fact all of these flats had a 10 minute or less wait - you won't find that everywhere. Canada's best coaster - I assume you mean at Laronde. I can't comment - but it does look good. Your attitude towards the French, however, is deplorable - if you don't like a bilingual country - move. The most visitor stats - not calculated by them, was done by the amusement park industry. Food- the new restaurant by Top Gun serves rotisserie chicken, at least 4 different kinds of pasta, gourment pizza's - Last I checked, this wasn't your typical fast food. I guess my point is, you cannot have an informed opinion since you have not been there. Yes there are changes happening and yes it is for the better so I invite you to go to the park and see. -

First - How would you know if you haven't been Second - PCW has a great selelction of Flats and a wide variety of coasters - not the best ones, but coasters none-the less Third - Have you offered them any constructive criticism? - I've been multiple times this year and have seen the best operations ever - no stacking of trains, ride ops having fun and paying attention to guests, shorter lines, better quality food the list of improvements goes on. As for bad experiences - I had one, contacted the park via email and received a call later that day to apologize and to let me know that they would be correcting the problem. They also thanked me for my message and stated that they cannot improve without valuable guest input. Lastly - PCW has the highest attendance of any seasonal theme park in North America - I don't think that you are sending them any sort of message. As for the park - it is getting better. I'd like to see some more installations in the next year, but remember record breaking and big does not mean the best - Thunderhead, Everest, Balder - great rides, not the biggest or fastest. Sorry about the rant - just something to think about.... -
I used to work at WDW and the only issues you should have are crowds at food and wine festival. Attraction queues should be relatively short (I'd say around 30 mins for the most popular) but of course, use the fast pass option where available. Hope this helps!

Has anyone out there seen this new show. It looks pretty ghetto and craptacular - it is built in the parking lot with a portable grandstand! If anyone has pics or a review, I'd love to hear it - I don't want to waste my time if it is not worth it! So you think Cedar Fair will keep in on next year? What do you think? David

The Best Terrain Coaster
taytig replied to dr.gumbo's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Steel - Dragon Mountain Wood - Cyclops Inverted - Nemesis Not really a terrain coaster, but I love Vortex at PCW - up the mountain then along the water - it never slows up!! -
Kings Island (KI) Discussion Thread
taytig replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Too bad if it doesn't open. I rode it opening year and thought it was a lot of fun. It shook, rattled and did everything a coaster was supposed to. As for non-enthusiasts - I think that the majority of them are still drawn to it because of its size and the loop - that will account for something if they decide to keep it. If they decide to trash the ride, I think certain things may appear in a new ride - like the loop. Anyways - I enjoyed it when it opened and know many other people have as well. -

I personally would also like an aqua trax. I like water rides and putting water together with a coaster equals a hit for me. WE don't have the selection of rides at my homepark(PCW) but we do make it to CP every few years, so a new ride that is not like one at every other park is a welcoming sight for me! Taytig -

I agree, but they maybe combined technology to have a real coaster with a flume style splashdown. Now here's a record breaker - a water/boat ride with inversions.... What do you think? -

I looked around the intamin site a bit more and found this photo - it is not with the aqua trax, but with another water ride. Could it be possible that they have added a new track type to the aqua trax layout? It looks similar! Also - any word on the official announcement? Super splash track - could it be moidified to fit an aqua trax?
