  1. Bumping this up to wish Renee a great race, this weekend, in Philly!
  2. ^^^OMG!!! Why has nobody thought of this brilliance before now? I'll take one dipped in chocolate, please!!!!
  3. Everyone NEEDS to check out that GCI video on facebook, that Chris Gray talked about. Seriously piss-your-pants funny! "Oh, I'm not gonna fly off, dude!" Gets even funnier, the more you watch it!
  4. They reminded me of the little worm muppets from Sesame Street!
  5. ^She did say that they sold quite a few of them to various attractions.
  6. Chuck! I have absolutely no interest in golf, so I didn't even think of Sawgrass (which is actually in Ponte Vedra,) or World Golf Village/Hall of Fame (which is actually in St. Augustine.) You couldn't pay me to go anywhere near the Florida/Georgia game craziness, and the are MUCH better and cheaper cruise options out of Port Canaveral. You do have a very good point about seeing visiting teams winning against the Jags, however, so you can add that to Sally Corp. and the Breast Cancer Marathon! Sally Corp. is actually a small company. I think she said they employ 40 or so people. Here is their tour information:
  7. Hmmmm....Sally Corp. and the Breast Cancer Marathon are the only two things I can think of, at the moment!
  8. I did have a "D'oh" moment, thinking that I totally should have seen that coming, but I fell for it!
  9. Yeah, that totally caught me off guard, too! Well played!
  10. Wait - now I'm confused. I was thinking Family Kingdom was another original IntimidaTour park that closed, but I think I'm mixing it up with Ghost Town in the Sky. So you can still experience the Great Pistolero Roundup in Myrtle Beach, right? Not so for Nights in White Satin, alas. Sorry, I'm a little slow - can't keep up!
  11. Elissa - I don't think our guide was the most reliable source of information. When Rhiannon asked her if they did any work for Dollywood, and another girl asked if they did anything at Holiday World, she told them, "I'm not sure. You can check our website." She also said the closest place we could experience one of their rides is Myrtle Beach. She did mention several animatronic projects, such as the one they just finished for Teddy Bear World, which just opened in Waikiki, and some museum projects (that was what LBJ was for.) The only theme park project she talked about was Johnny Thunder, for Legoland Florida, and basically she just said that they are working on it. We got a lot of "I don't knows" and "I'm not sures." So, information-wise, it was pretty sucky, but it was still a cool tour! Barry - we've lived here, (10 minutes away from Adventure Landing in Jax Beach,) for over 9 years, and I've never been there! Rhiannon just happened to get that credit last weekend, at a birthday party! I never even thought about it, until you mentioned it. I just asked her if she went on it at the birthday party, and she said she did! ^No, you don't have to be a Girl Scout. My son's 4th grade class is going, next week.
  12. ^Just one scene. I think the Safari Party Room is for breaks!
  13. My daughter's Brownie troop went on a field trip today to Sally Corporation, here in downtown Jacksonville. It was a cool little tour. Our guide was the daughter of John Wood, one of the founders, and current chairman and CEO. On to the photos! I wanted to get a photo of the whole building, because it's really cool, but I was hindered by the Veterans' Day parade traffic. Small price to pay. Electronics display Blasters! Tour theater The original "Sally" piano player Rhiannon shooting at Santa's elves Die, mutant freak! Hall display Rooby Roo! sculpting room Lyndon B. Johnson random dusty box of hands random dusty Scooby head, stuffed between some cabinets random mummies Challenge of Tutankhamon dude We weren't introduced to this guy, so I'm not sure what he's working on, but I just thought I'd take a photo of work in action! We did not get to experience the Safari Party Room. T-Rex in a box! They will both be at IAAPA, next week! Random work space - watch out, Mr. Bill! Wish my locker at work had a decorative arch. *pout* Bird show can be yours for around $20,000. I would prefer T-Rex in a box, for around $100,000. This guy was very cool. And yes, they do take private commissions, so Dave could put in an order for a shark in a box! ROWR! random dusty skeleton in a chair black light painting room My foot, and some of the fluorescent paint splatters. There were guys working in here, as we passed through. Creepy fluorescent clown, guarding the paint. Skull. Didn't show very well. Sorry. I liked the Elvis on the wall. Politically incorrect cabinet security! Wonder where this guy might be headed...hmmmm... Pneumatics testing. See through bird. Finished off the tour with a few rounds of Boo Blasters, then a Q and A session. If you should happen to be in Jacksonville, for some ungodly reason, try to schedule a tour! It was fun!
  14. The one I'd really like to see go away forever is Special Agent Oso! Please! Thankfully, Charlotte's infatuation with it faded quickly.
  15. They just removed it from the Playhouse Disney website, too. Charlotte is pissed.
  16. Another great TR, Divv! I love how these Halloween events are spreading!
  17. ^^If it were just one crappy run, I wouldn't think much of it. The thing that has me concerned is that I've hit the wall on both of my 20+ miles runs. I did fine with 15 and 18 miles. I just wish I had one non-wall-hitting 20+ mile run before the race. Getting back on the South Beach Diet bandwagon, today, after gorging on candy, birthday cake, wings, chips, pizza etc, for the past week. The more I think about it, the more I have to agree, Gregg, that vacation probably affected me more than I realized. I feel so much better when I avoid sugar and simple carbs, in general. Congrats on your 5K PR, Renee, and good luck in Philly!
  18. I just watched it, and I really liked it. I saw Rocky Horror, once, when I was a freshman in college, and was not a fan, so maybe that's why I didn't take offense to the Glee treatment. I think if they did a faithful rendition, I would have hated it. As a Glee episode, I thought it was great. Will desperately needed a come-to-Jesus moment about his pitiful chasing after Emma. Never been much of a John Stamos fan, either, but I really like his character in Glee. Definitely ready for a hiatus from theme episodes, though!
  19. We had pizza, the night before, which probably isn't the best pre-long-run meal. As I was reminded, we spent most of the past week enjoying the TPR WISCONSIN festivities, which may have contributed to fatigue, also. Thank you for the reassurances. I do think it's likely that it's a nourishment problem. I'm going to pay a lot more attention to what I eat, the week before the race - lots of complex carbs, and I'll be sure to take some sports drink at each water station during the race (which is what I've done in the half marathons I've done.)
  20. Panic setting in! Space Coast Marathon, (my first full marathon,) is in 24 days. I had my last long run, before tapering, this morning. I had planned on running 25.4 miles, but I totally hit the wall at mile 19. Had to walk the final mile home, and gave up on running the final 5.4 mile loop. I just ran out of steam - could barely pick up my feet. I had really wanted to get as close to marathon distance as possible. My previous long run was 22.4 miles, and I really struggled through the last 4 miles. I'm wondering what I'm doing wrong, and am afraid I won't be able to finish the marathon! I usually run a 6.1 mile loop, around a 10 minute/mile pace, for my regular runs. For long runs, I slow it down at least a minute and a half. My pace for the 22.4 mile run was 11:44. My pace today ended up being 11:48. I use a 3 minute run to 30 second walk ratio, throughout the run. My pace for the Wine and Dine half was 10:27. I have coffee and yogurt with peanut butter and chocolate syrup before I run, take a GU packet/water stop halfway through each loop (about once every hour,) and a PowerAde/water stop at the end of each loop (about 25 minutes after the GU stop.) Why am I hitting the wall between miles 18 and 20? Do I need more nourishment than what I'm getting? Any ideas/suggestions?
  21. Congrats, Gregg! That course looked tough! I have no idea what to expect, for my first full marathon, on November 28th. I'm hoping to finish under 5 hours. Race prediction formulas, based on my recent times, have me finishing in 4:40 - 4:50. I'll probably have a better idea, after my final long run, next week. My shins are sore, from pushing myself too hard on my mile time trial, Saturday morning. I'm trying a compression wrap on them, while I'm at work, tonight. Seems to be working.
  22. ^Agreed. I would be all over this, if we hadn't just been to Legoland CA. But now, I think it would be a bit of a letdown for us, at that price, and a 3.5 hour drive. I still think it's a great addition for FL, especially for young boys, who are a bit too young for Universal, but are turned off by all the princess/fairy stuff at WDW. Every young boy I know LOVES Legos.
  23. Same. Having just visited Legoland CA, earlier this year, I don't think it will be worth it for us. I was really, really looking forward to this. We need a cheaper alternative to replace our WDW passes. Now I'm just bummed out.
  24. LMFAO!!!! So much awesomeness!! Bryan's had me in tears, though!
