Oakwood Discussion Thread
tinhead replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
It is similar to Typhoon in Bobbejaanland, but the elements are in different places on the track. Looks more of an out and back style coaster compared to Typhoon which is more a wild mouse sized coaster.. A bit like the difference of the track layouts of Spinball Whizzer Alton Towers and Dragons fury Thorpe park same type of coaster different style layouts. -

Just a short TR from Oakwood. We popped down to Oakwood tonight for the Supposedly Halloween nights, have to say it wasn't very good. There was no theming apart from some green lights and smoke in the centre of treetops coaster and a little island with dummy mummies on it and a few grave stones with witty comments on them. Oh and a dance show which only ran twice all night. Pretty poor i have to say. We were the only ones frightening the kids as we got dressed up for a laugh. Apart from that Megaphobia was rockin "man it was running like a dream" had two rides on it one in daylight and one in the dark and when I say dark I mean it. I couldnt even see the track and I had the front seat. When you get to ride on Megaphobia you realise why it gets picked for one of the top ten rides, it has amazing air time and no trim brakes so it really flies. Plus it has been raining here in Wales for a few days and rain and woodies usually mean a very quick ride. It was insane. Hydro was in total darkness too, and with the new restraints has lost a little of its oomph. but the drop is still something to write home about and you still get very very wet. The only other ride worth mentioning was Bounce two rides for the price of one one, half of the ride is launch and bounce the other half is a drop, so you get the best of both worlds if you're a fan of either. So I end my TR. All I can say is go to Oakwood on a normal day forget their events and just go there for Megaphobia it's worth every penny of the entrance fee. Our Hydro ride pic Come here children. Me and Tina having a cuddle Welsh version of Disney turkey drumstick Hydro's new restraints. Megaphobia Here lies.

I think your right as the coaster goes over the first drop twice, unless they are running 2 trains or it has two lift hills, I have never ridden this coaster so i woudn't know, so if anyone does let us know please. -

On Oblivion, i would add a loop at the end of the tunnel, then into a double helix, and just before the brakes add a corkscrew. The pepsi max big one.(not even worth capital letters), the only way to improve it is knock it down. -
some of mine. here's looking at you kid. ugly face winner 2005 my girlfriend screamed louder than the ride. moon river

Retro video of WDW 25th Anniversary year
tinhead replied to tinhead's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
It was definately 1998 when I filmed the video. also i am pretty sure the 25th anniversary ran from october 1996 to the end of january 1998. I was in florida in january 97 but didn't go to disney, so I went back the following jan to catch it before they stopped it and skyways was still open in january 98 so maybe they closed it when they put the castle back to its original version after the anniversary celebrations.
