  1. ^ That's exactly what I was thinking. Be at Kentucky Kingdom when the gates open, and you will have the entire park knocked out VERY quickly. Plus, I don't know if Beech Bend is going to be open at night any, but if they are....
  2. Sounds like a blast! I'm really hoping to go, mainly for New York City, but also to complete the trifecta of new for 06 woodies.
  3. Quick question for you Robb: I was going to burn my uncompressed DV .avi file to a DVD and mail it to you as I have in the past. But, what if I had somewhere that I could upload the entire file on the net and then just email you a link to it (since you're going to have to copy the .avi file from the DVD to your computer anyway)?
  4. If you're buying a mat and hooking it up to the PC, then what does the iPod even have to do with anything?
  5. The trade deadline is upon us. Thursday at 3 PM EST. The floodgates have opened; so far today: Montreal Canadiens acquire goaltender Jose Theodore from the Colorado Avalanche in exchange for goaltender David Aebischer. Los Angeles Kings acquire forward Mark Parrish and defenceman Brent Sopel from the New York Islanders in exchange for defenceman Denis Grebeshkov, forward Jeff Tambellini and a conditional third round pick. San Jose Sharks acquire forward Ville Nieminen from the New York Rangers in exchange for a third round draft pick in 2006. Toronto Maple Leafs acquire defenceman Luke Richardson from the Columbus Blue Jackets in exchange for a conditional draft pick. Edmonton Oilers acquired goaltender Dwayne Roloson from the Minnesota Wild in exchange for a first round pick and a conditional 3rd round draft pick.
  6. Agreed on Amy Adams; she was awesome. Unfortunately, Junebug probably didn't have enough people see it to get enough support for her.
  7. I haven't been posting in this thread lately, but I did finally finish watching all of the 2005 movies I wanted to see. My top 10 list is now up at my site: http://www.jonathanhawkins.net
  8. The Oscars are tonight, so it's only appropriate that I have compiled my favorite 10 films of last year. I would paste the whole thing into this post, but it's formatted for my website, so I'll just link you guys instead: http://www.jonathanhawkins.net There are some familiar films from the Oscar nominees, and some that were snubbed.
  9. The NHL is back from the Olympic break, and every game is critical from here on as most teams have about 25 games left until the playoffs. My Hurricanes have a chance to regain first overall in the league with a win tonight, and there was a great article on the team in USA Today this morning. It would be amazing if they could get back to the finals, but the East is going to be tough this year. The top 5 teams in the conference (Carolina, Ottawa, New York Rangers, Buffalo, Philadelphia) are all loaded, and then some of the lower seeds could be big spoilers (I wouldn't be surprised at all if the New Jersey Devils ended up going to the Finals). The Western Conference isn't quite as loaded on the upper end, but there is a much more interesting race for the bottom playoff spots. The 5th place Canucks and 11th place Wild are only separated by 10 points. Detroit should finish atop the conference in the regular season, although Dallas has been fantastic at times. I like Minnesota, and really want them to make the playoffs, but they are 5 points out and have the hardest remaining schedule of any team in the entire league, so it's probably not going to happen. The awards races are clearing up a bit as well. At this point Jagr looks like he will be tough to beat for the Hart, and Ovechkin should be a lock for the Calder (good god that kid is incredible). He actually has a good shot at the Rocket Richard. I've been proud of Eric Staal, who is in the top 5 in goals and points, but I don't think he has much of a shot at catching Jagr. At goalie, I think right now Hendrik Lundqvist has got to be considered one of the favorites for the Vezina, which is amazing, since no one even really knew who he was coming in to the season. He's been one of the many big surprises in the league this year. How has this season been for any of you hockey fans out there?
  10. Hades for me as well, and behind that the tunnel on the PKD's Grizzly, which is just fantastic.
  11. Good job Sweden. Their men's hockey team beat Finland 3-2 a few hours ago to win the gold medal.
  12. Video Here At a high school in the Northeast US, there is a kid with autism who helps the basketball team out in practice. For the last game of the season (his senior year), the coach decided to put him in for the last four minutes. He airballs his first shot, then goes completely insane, hitting a school record six 3-pointers, and scoring 20 points in 4 minutes. Guess the coach should have played him more during the season.
  13. GERBER!!! 49 saves! First shutout of Team Canada since they were shutout by the Soviets in 1988!
  14. WTF USA women's hockey??? What happened?!!?! That was an awesome game, but christ, USA and Canada aren't supposed to lose a game ever. What an upset.
  15. Nothing like being able to watch hockey for 12 hours straight. Russia got Gaborik'ed USA got Irbe'ed
  16. George Bush doesn't care about black puppets
  17. ^ They aired new episodes a couple of weeks ago actually. It was only two of them, though. Great show; one of my favorites.
  18. I figure if there can be 100000+ Final Destination 3 threads, I can post this. http://dsc.discovery.com/convergence/grizzlyman/grizzlyman.html?clik=netmain_feat1 Today at 8 PM EST on the Discovery Channel http://www.apple.com/trailers/lions_gate/grizzly_man/large.html You can all use your fancy DVR things to record this. You'll like it. It's awesome. I've campaigned for this film a good bit; it was one of my favorites from 2005. A review, written by yours truly back in October:
  19. Everytime someone makes a Final Destination 3 thread, God kills a kitten. Everytime someone actually sees the movie, God kills two kittens. Please, think of the kittens.
  20. I would disagree with you there. OLN *is* basic cable; right now it is on most cable providers, although admittedly some have not picked it up yet. It is very unfortunate for fans who have a provider that does not carry OLN, but that should change very soon. There is a chance that OLN will get the Thursday NFL package for next season, which would guarantee every cable company in the country adding it. OLN has done a great job with the NHL; they show two or more games every week, and really treat it well, instead of giving it a back seat to poker like ESPN. Also, the NHL is on NBC on Saturdays. As for the game itself; yes, we are witnessing a changing of the guard. This year we've said goodbye to players like Messier, Francis, Lemieux, and Hull, but at the same time there has never been in the history of the league a crop of rookies like this season. There are some amazing young players in the game right now, and you will be hearing names like Ovechkin, Crosby, Kovalchuk, Staal, and Svatos for years to come. The new rule changes have made it more fun to watch, and as far as I'm concerned hockey is better than ever. It certainly doesn't hurt that my Hurricanes have the best record in the league.
  21. Don't get me wrong, I have a lot of problems with many members of Congress as well, but Congress never voted to go to war. This is directly from the resolution passed on October 11, 2002: In the end, Bush had the final call, and I hold him accountable for the decision he made, which was, in my opinion, the wrong one.
