  1. Ballots are sent out to Amusement Today subscribers, and if I recall correctly, I believe in the past you can request a ballot as well if you are not a subscriber.
  2. They don't just "give" the awards out anyway. It is done by ballot. As we all know, though, most of the voters are apparently nuts. That said, the #1 wood and #1 steel are the same as mine, so I guess I can at least agree with that.
  3. Even funnier than Family Kingdom is Ober Gatlinburg, a tourist trap (although a rather fun one) that is also about 10 minutes from Dollywood.
  4. ^^ I don't know; from what I have heard from a few people, Hades is running better this summer than ever before.
  5. Haha the old pretend to be getting my picture taken while we really want a picture of the people behind me. It's too bad Hades wasn't running that well for you; it blew me away two years ago. Avalanche is just so ridiculous. Cannot wait to see the Indiana Beach part; I love that park.
  6. NHL: Die hard Carolina Hurricanes fan, a casual bandwagon fan of the Wild for my Western Conference team NFL: Carolina Panthers College: NC State Wolfpack Premier League: Have decided to try and follow it this season and will be jumping on the Arsenal bandwagon
  7. I have no proof that I can show anyone here, so I guess it will be locked, but before it is I will agree with bgwfreak and Coasterdave and say that if anyone hasn't picked up their Saturator credit yet, you might want to do so before September 3rd.
  8. This is the preferred dress code at Adventureland in Iowa:
  9. Well, it depends on which Wild game I go to. There are two that fit my schedule, one of which is on a Saturday, and one on a Sunday. The tickets go on sale September 15, and that is the only thing that I am worried about right now. I know they have sold out every game in their existence, but I hope if I am on Ticketmaster the second they go on sale I can get one ticket. Not to sidetrack the thread or anything hah. I hear Cedar Fair usually does a great job with their Halloween events. I know they are beefing the one at Carowinds up t his year.
  10. How are the crowds for this event typically? I have never been to the park before, but am considering flying up in October to go to the park and to a Wild game. I would be going on Friday night from 6-11 and then on either Saturday or Sunday when the park opens until mid-afternoon.
  11. I have a good many park shirts. I wear them to parks sometimes. Shockingly, my friends have not all deserted me because of it.
  12. Celebration City is fun, but far behind the other two (which is to be expected). If Dollywood had not removed their Flooded Mine and haunted shack (whatever it was called), they would be the clear winner for me. As it is, Silver Dollar City gets my vote.
  13. My mistake. I haven't been there in 4 years, and they were charging 75 cents then. I must have missed your post.
  14. That doesn't make any sense at all. Six Flags and Cedar Fair are both major corporations. Anyway, as for the double standard, alright here you go: The two times I have been up to Cedar Point, I was frustrated by the locker policy on some rides. Luckily they only cost a fraction of what Six Flags is charging, but nonetheless I did not like it. Last I checked, Carowinds does not allow loose articles on Borg, and they will give you a free locker near the ride if you have any bags.
  15. Because that is how the vast majority of people see it. People who live in that area don't say "Let's go to Six Flags America!" They say "Let's go to Six Flags!" All enthusiasts may agree that it isn't the best park in the chain, but the average person doesn't know that at all. Many likely think Six Flags parks are almost the same, and some probably aren't even aware there is another Six Flags park aside from the one they live near.
  16. I consider Carowinds my home park, otherwise Hurler, Top Gun, Ricochet, Reptar, and Borg would be on this. I usually seem to get to new rides a year after they open. Alpengeist (97) Top Gun (99) Apollo's Chariot (99) Volcano (yeah yeah yeah 98 well it operated for less than a month that year so I'm counting it as 99) Millennium Force (00) Hydra Fighter II (01) Hypersonic XLC (01) Superman Ultimate Flight (02) Thunderhead (04) Storm Runner (04) Italian Job (05) Hades (05) Avalanche (05) Powder Keg (05) VeggieTales Sideshow Spin lol... (05) The Voyage (06) Kentucky Rumbler (06) Spinning Dragons (06) Goliath (06) Italian Job (06) Mystery Mine (07) Griffon (07)
  17. Not nuts at all. I don't like his Disney comparison; there's no need for that. However, every problem he pointed out is something that I think all of us have experienced at a Six Flags park. The only exception that I took was the security part. I couldn't possibly disagree with him more there. When I go to an amusement park I don't want it to be like an airport. One of the most refreshing things for me at an amusement park comes when I approach the entrance and see that there are no metal detectors. The most damning part of his story was his experience with the broken fence in the Mind Eraser queue (here are his photos if you didn't catch it http://www.travelswithfred.smugmug.com/gallery/3181313#175076680). I wish I could say I was surprised. Of course, he could also claim employee neglect in the fact that they apparently didn't mind him taking his camera on the rides.
  18. Actually, my butt was most definitely IN the seat. Clearly it was running better on the day you were there than when I was.
  19. After riding Steel Force, Mamba was incredibly disappointing to me. There was no air to speak of. Not that there is much on Steel Force, but there is some.
  20. It's not that simple though for everyone. Well, if you can fit everything into your pockets, great. I personally have cargo shorts with lots of pockets and have no need to bring a bag into the park unless I decide to bring my camcorder. But a lot of people do have things they need (or really want) to bring into the park that cannot fit in their pockets. Having to pay $2 for a one time use locker is more than a hassle, in my opinion. I don't think I have ever seen a one time use locker at any park that costs more than 75 cents or a dollar. Those of us who are repeat visitors or read these coaster sites will be prepared. I know after I went to Busch Gardens the first time this year I said I will never film there because of the bag rule, and will make sure any friends with me don't bring bags. This just isn't going to cross the mind of the average park patron, though, and I always see a LOT of people with bags at parks.
