Photo TR: A little more Animal Kingdom
Meteornotes replied to Erik Johnson's topic in Photo Trip Report Archive
Good photos as always, though you do lose a point for going to AK and not riding Dinosaur! No Starship at Universal, but I saw KC & The Sunshine Band on the schedule, which is almost as good... dt -
Larry makes an excellent suggestion about articles. Perhaps a really good TR/detailed park article could be placed on a special section of the site. Maybe moving it off the forum to a different area. I like this idea... dt

The Official "Olympic Games" Thread
Meteornotes replied to Hattuchili's topic in Random, Random, Random
Hey, at least the HD coverage on NBC isn't a day behind like it was for the last summer games. They're making progress! Figure skating is the big draw in this house, since Mary used to be an accountant for the US Figure Skating Association. She knows a lot of the skaters, and will be yelling at the TV a lot next week. Opening ceremonies were fun. We were laughing at the choices for music when the athletes were coming into the stadium. Even Bob Costas had to say something about "YMCA" being played. We also liked at the end, when they said "we'll be back with a surprise". I tured to Mary and said "Peter Gabriel is going to come back out and perform 'Supper's Ready'". Obviously that didn't happen... dt -

I really thought we were going to escape the winter with no snow. Supposed to get 4-8 inches here, starting sometime tonight. I'll have to watch the news tonight for some of my favorite footage, when people freak out and attack the grocery store like the snow is going to wipe them all off the face of the Earth! The last time it snowed, they showed a guy that had two carts completely packed with Diet Pepsi bottles. How much did he think he was going to need to survive?!? People always amuse me... dt

I would so totally buy more on-ride photos if rides had bizarre names like this! I don't really care what a ride is called, as long as it's fun. Though I have to wonder how many of these sponsorships they'll be able to sell. I sort of recall reading an article about Disney having problems finding ride sponsors in the last couple of years, so you have to wonder how attractive a SF sponsorship opportunity would really be. Then again, SF would probably not demand or even be able to charge a premium for ride sponsorship like Disney can, so this might open up opportunities with companies with smaller marketing budgets. I'm looking forward to all these parks opening for the season, and to see how these propoosed changes work. Though something like selling ride names is likely not going to happen overnight... dt -
Those were some cool pics. Looks like a nice place. And I loved that bridge... dt

I've stayed at the Holiday Inn which is pretty much at the bottom of the SFMM hill, on the other side of the freeway. Decent place, and there are about 1000 restaurants in the area, so you'll have plenty of food choices... dt

Photo TR: My Random Trip To The UK

I've been playing for about half my life too, which is a long damn time! Guitar, keyboards, and random percussion instruments. And trumpet/tuba when I was in school. We shall have to discuss music this summer on the bus... dt -

Yeah, I was there. Along with Mary (my wife) and Dan, the other diabetic. String instruments do indeed rule. Though I am still partial to the guitar as my all-time favorite instrument... dt -

I'm heading out in a few minutes for eye surgery, which I'm not looking forward to, but you gave me some great laughs with your latest batch of photos! And I have a new word to use today, "horlick". I shall have fun working it into conversations with telemarketers... dt -
The Fed Ex one had dinosaurs, so it was the best! Most of the commercials were pretty good this year. The Burger King one was totally bizarre, but not in a good way. The other awesome thing was the Lost promo set to "Addicted To Love". That kicked ass... dt

A new SLC credit, random animals and a mud ride?!? This place looks awesome!!! Can't wait to visit... dt -
I attended this event one year. It was most entertaining. Derek, please tell us you at least performed Starship's "We Built This City" or some Cher for the crowd. It would be very sad if these musical gems were ignored during the evening... dt

OK, the last updates were the best yet! More totally random vending machine finds, please. The Angry Bag Thing was AWESOME. dt -
I'd stay at the Boardwalk. It's really nice and has a good location. I've stayed at the Dolphin, and didn't like it nearly as much (though the Blue Zoo restaurant in the hotel RULES). dt

Trip Report W/Photos- The Georgia Aquarium

We'll likely check that out on our yearly trip to Atlanta for Prog Power. My favorite aquarium is still the one here in Baltimore, though this one does look more impressive... dt
