Cedar Point (CP) Discussion Thread
pryonisys replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
How can you say that? I quite literally just laughed loud enough to make my wife wonder what I was looking at. -
I mostly agree, though I don't particularly care for France. It's okay, but a step down from the other areas. France needs trees and it needs them desperately. What France lacks in trees it makes up for in having Griffin. I love Ireland but they really need a signature attraction to anchor it. Both fair, France has nice theming but it would be wonderful to have more trees. Ireland does need a better attraction but the show is great in it's appearance and theming (does anyone else still remember the magic show? that was fun). If I was to pick a least favorite I'd probably go with Festa Italia, but I haven't been there for a few years and it is usually when I'm starting to get tired in the park as I generally head the other way first.

Parks don't usually announce when they are getting nothing. true Sorry to say it m8 but they are not kidding. On the bright side, however, we can theorize about something they may be saving up for like a 2018 project. Any guesses on that? Saving up money for a rehab of the old batman stand up coaster! (kidding) In all seriousness it would be great for them to get something new, but I don't think most of us really expected something this year at this point.

This ride is looking fantastic. I just watched a video of the hard hat tour also and it is looking great. I know I'm not making it to BGW this year which stinks but I look forward to hearing how everyone says it rides. I love getting to see all the progress on the coasters as they go up. I look forward to seeing how the scenery is when they are all done.

Waldameer Discussion Thread
pryonisys replied to Millennium ForceJZ's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
You know... I could really see that being the case. I always forget Conneaut Lake Park even has a "water park" until going to Ghost Lake in the fall and seeing a random slide. -

Even though I live in Erie I hadn't heard that they are going to do that. That's kind of interesting, I'm curious as to how they are going to do incorporate the Battle of Lake Erie into Water World. -
Agreed SooperDooperLooper is just such a ridiculous name that it is fantastic.

pryonisys replied to boldikus's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
1. What is the farthest distance you've traveled to specifically visit a theme park? About 1,100 miles. Erie, PA to Disney World. High School band trip back in the day. 2. Your favorite coaster in the state you live in? I would imagine Skyrush, but since I haven't been to Hershey since it was put up... probably Talon at Dorney. 3. Would you rather wait in line for a boomerang (at any park) or a VR coaster @ a Six Flags? Boomerang 4. Have u ever been the only person in a train during a coaster ride? No. 5. What is your favorite thing to do at your home park that does not involve riding something? Eating. Once a year my church has a picnic at one of the pavilions so there is plenty of good free food. 6. Better time for ERT: Early morning or late night? I would guess late night but have never done it. 7. Name some theme park food that *sounds* gross, yet is oh-so-delicious? I don't usually eat food in theme parks because I'm lame like that. 8. Name your top three "bucketlist" coasters you have yet to ride. Fury 325 RMC Mean Streak Intimidator 305 9. Have you ever been E-Vac'd? Did you receive anything if you did? No 10. What is the longest length of time you've waited for a coaster? 3 Hours for the Raptor at Cedar Point the summer that it opened 11. Worst flat ride ever. Name it. Scrambler 12. Your favorite SWEET treat at a park that is NOT your home park. Still don't usually do food in parks 13. Congratulations! After aggressively gambling on the Plinko game you finally won a front of the line pass. Which ride do you use it on? Probably Top Thrill Dragster or Maverick (I can't really justify waiting in line too long for TTD) 14. If you could have a lifetime fast pass to ONE attraction what would it be? Millennium Force probably 15. Have you ever been next to someone that puked on a coaster? Thankfully not 16. Your home park is getting a new B&M and YOU get to pick what type. Do you want an invert/hyper/dive/floorless/flyer/wing/standup? All of the above is not an option. If Waldameer got a floorless B&M it would be fantastic. 17. Name your favorite Vekoma. I kind of sort of liked Serial Thriller at Geagua Lake but I was small enough back then to not get my head hit too hard. 18. What water ride delivers the most unacceptable amount of wetness? Tidal Force at Hershey was the worst. I was ringing out all my clothes in the bathroom after that stupid ride. 19. If you were able to help design a coaster would you want it to focus on airtime or inversions/positive G's? Most likely airtime 20. Most comfortable trains/seats for a coaster are... B&M like on Apollo's Chariot are pretty good 21. Choose one: Unlimited front-of-the-line access to your favorite coaster at your home park for one season OR $1,000 cash? $1,000 cash 22. You just got drowned by a flume/rapids/chute-the-chutes. Do you pay the $$ for the dryer machine or do you continue on with your day trudging around like soggy dog? Walk around wet, maybe stop in the bathroom and ring out my clothes 23. What is the worst food you've had at your home park? Pretty much anything I've ever got from there is bad, they are why I don't buy food at theme parks. 24. You're at Cedar Point. You have a one hour ERT session on ONE coaster of your choice. You choose... Maverick 25. Favorite (non-clone) dark ride? Curse of Darkastle 26. What was your favorite park you visited in 2016? Alas, I made it to none... (my wife and I had a baby so that kind of occupied our time and my vacation days) 27. What's your current credit count? Don't be shy. 74... Which feels really lame when on this site, I mentioned it to my family and they thought it was a huge number 28. Winner winner chicken dinner! You just won a trip with hotel and airfare included. The catch is its only good for Six Flags America or Mt Olympus. Which do you choose? Mt Olympus as I wouldn't ever get there if not for something of this nature. 29. What is the best Intamin coaster you have ridden? Millennium Force (or potentially Maverick. I go back and forth on those two) 30. Your home park has to remove one coaster and one flat for an expansion. Which two rides would you be OK with losing? Coaster - (hurts me to say it because it was my first coaster) The Comet (Waldameer) Flat Ride - The Scrambler 31. Song/music you've heard playing at a park that absolutely has not business being played in a theme park? I've heard a lot of trash at Six Flags in the early 2000s 32. Do you visit the waterpark if it's connected to the amusement park? Almost always 34. What 2017 addition are you most looking forward to? If Mean Streak was going to be done that would be it, but I guess the expansion of Waterworld at Waldameer just because this isn't a huge new stuff year. 35. What was the most disappointing addition to your home park in the past 10 years? Mega Vortex at Waldameer ( Zamperla Mega Disk'O) it's stupid and the clamp restraint hurt both the back and groin of myself and everyone else who rode the stupid thing. 36. The most overrated coaster ever is... Top Thrill Dragster 37. What ride makes you wanna vomit? Tilt-a-Whirl 38. What is the best consolation prize you've won at a games booth? A mini basketball at one of the 3 point shooting contests 39. And the worst? It was a fair but I got a goldfish that died the next day (as so many people get) 40. End this questionnaire by posting a picture of your favorite light package (coaster/flat). -
Carowinds Discussion Thread
pryonisys replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
You'll have time for everything. I really really like this park, but it really doesn't have much to offer, outside of its two and a half excellent offerings. Fury (Excellent), Afterburn (Excellent), Intimidator (half....). Their mine train is 'ok', but if you're not a glider fan, there's not much else you'll want to do. There's no log flume, train, or sky ride and most of the other coasters, aside from nighthawk, will be 5-10 minute waits at most. Don't get me wrong, Fury is worth going out of the way for all on it's own and it's perfectly complimented by Afterburn. In fact, I enjoyed both so much that it motivated me to buy last minute plane tickets in the fall. My only suggestion is to go to Nighthawk at rope drop to beat the long lines due to slow loading. Other than that, this park is really well landscaped for a large corporate park and it provides some really scenic views of the roller coasters and park attractions. It does so with a mixture of old school feel and 'modern sports complex' style, neither of which fail to impress in their own way. Damn. Now I want to go ride Fury... Also, if you're old enough to drink, stop at Frugal MacDoogal liquor store on the way. It has an awesome selection of local beers to enjoy in your hotel room. Not the parking lot, as I found out that security doesn't take kindly to this (dunce hat). It's my favorite liquor store ever. Why? Because if you're standing at the front of the store you can clearly see Carowinds' reflection on the front glass. Look to your left and there's Fury. God, I hate myself for being this way. Great evaluation of this all. I may just have to stop at Frugal MacDoogal's. It would be nice if they didn't mind you partaking in a beverage in the parking lot, but oh well. You know I've seen a lot of POVs of Carrowinds rides but I guess I have to go see one for Afterburn now as there are plenty of suggestions to ride that. Thank you. -

P.S. Afterburn crushes Intimidator. 100% yes. Nighthawk and Carolina Cobra should be must rides as well. Both are decent coasters Thanks guys. Figuring this may be one of the only times I go to this park as I'm from Erie PA and don't make it south all that often. Correct me if I'm wrong, Nighthawk and Firehawk at Kings Island are the same, correct? I know they're both Vekoma Flying Dutchman but didn't know if there's an element difference. (I rode Firehawk when it was at Geagua Lake as X-Flight way back in the day). I appreciate all the thoughts. -

Hey all, I'm hoping to make it to Carowinds this year (Fall/late summer), other than Fury which is an obvious must ride what would you Carowinds experts advise that I make sure I leave time for? I'm going to try to hit all the coasters obviously but have really only heard much about Fury and Intimidator. -

Best Drop Ride!!!
pryonisys replied to coaster_shorty's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Best one I've ever ridden is probably the one at Marineland (crappy park but you can't beat the view on the drop tower). Am I the only one who is still really partial to the old drop towers like Demon Drop? -
