Personally I can completely understand them getting rid of it without any fanfare, it's barely been open lately and to put money into something you're just going to take out is kind of silly, isn't it? I think it's makes even less sense to open it as it's not really a unique ride to Darien Lake alone. I get people potentially wanting last rides, but I also understand just removing a ride that isn't unique with low ridership/isn't working properly anyway.

A little information to add to the speculation as to where the Sky Screamer will go next season. When I was at the park a few weekends ago an employee told me the Sky Screamer will be replacing Twister and that Twister is effectively on a trailer like a carnival ride so removing it will take almost no effort. I don't know the validity of this but figured I'd at least add in what I heard.

What is your next park?

I'm driving down to South Carolina on Friday to visit my wife's cousins and they asked me if I wanted to head to Carowinds on 9/29. So... Carowinds -
I get the feeling that, if/when the park rethemes it to Superman, the general reaction will be, "Wait... since when has it NOT been Superman?" You're right - reverting back to Superman would be such a non-announcement. I would not be surprised to see the park take it in another direction like giving it a Bizarro overlay, similar to what SFNE did a few years back. That would at least make the ride experience seem fresh and new - and while they are at it, bring back train #2... Even though Ride of Steel was first, naming it Bizarro would be kind of cool because it mirrors the other Superman Ride of Steel. I think you'd run into the same situation we are in now though where everyone calls it Superman, even if the name were changed to Bizarro and the color changed, to a lot of people it would still be Superman. In my opinion I would just change the name to what everyone already calls it anyway, then Six Flags wouldn't even have to paint it (I know everyone wants a fresh coat of paint, but lets be realistic here).

I went to the park to process my season pass on Friday. Since my pass was bought during the flash sale it's a bold pass but the card is just a standard white card. I confirmed with guest services that the season pass is upgraded to gold and found online that it was also upgraded to gold. I don't know if anyone else had this happen but I wanted to let everyone know my experience with getting my pass and hopefully give peace of mind to those receiving a white card instead of a gold card (this could just be my experience though)

I was just at the park today for about an hour and a half (except for the added 15 minutes to find my car because I made the cardinal sin of forgetting where I parked) to get my season pass processed. I managed to get on 5 of the coasters (didn't feel like riding the SLC or Viper because I had to make it back to work). Overall it was a very nice time. I haven't been there for almost 20 years now so it was nice to make it back and know that I'll be heading there more next year. For all the hate that the park gets it's a nice little park.

This looks so good! I loved the jojo roll on Hydra, but this whole ride looks fantastic. I have to imagine the launched airtime hill is going to be really cool. -
I don't think these feelings have to be mutually exclusive. I love CP, have grown up with it as a regular, and important part of my life, and consider it my favorite Amusement Park. Just for pure thrills, I don't think it can be matched, and even if I ever make it overseas, I doubt that'll change. However, I also LOVE BGW, and what it brings to the table is entirely different in its package form than CP! I haven't even been to BGW since before Griffen and Verbolten, and it's one of my top parks in the country, that's how great it is in all of the little things! Plus, it has a great collection of rides and coasters! So yeah, I think it's a treasure, and deserves to be appreciated! I sure hope to finally get back next year to appreciate it some more myself! I agree with you in regard to that, but it's just I found myself missing the theming and greenery. Both are great, but they are different. I just didn't realize how much I enjoyed certain elements of BGW.

After riding Rougarou for the first time after to conversion I don't get why people complain about it being rough. It was a perfectly fine ride. Not my favorite but I still enjoyed it. -

Exciting news, I'll be honest I was curious if it would be open soon but figured that most people here knew just as much as I did about when it would be open and I didn't want to be horribly annoying. Hoping to get on it tomorrow, last time I rode it there was 2004 and there was a 2 hour line. I will probably like it a lot more if there is a quicker wait time. -

I was keeping an eye on the queue times today as an indicator for going to the park tomorrow, but the ride times are so low today I can't imagine it being similar tomorrow at all. One can hope though -

I actually had just seen this myself. That is crazy. I'm hoping it is somewhat similar tomorrow, it will be my first time at Cedar Point in about 10 years and I'd love to get a few laps on Steel Vengeance. -

This looks cool. The only other dive coaster that I've been on is Griffon and that was fun too. I very much like the idea of the drop into the tunnel. The mcbr is kind of odd, but we'll see what it's like when the coaster really exists. -
Waldameer Discussion Thread

I took my brother to Waldameer on Saturday night. He grew up in Erie, but lives in South Carolina now. He was visiting for the weekend and said he hadn't been to the park for about 20 years so he hadn't been on Ravine Flyer 2 yet. We wandered around a little and looked at all the remembered rides from childhood and the expansions that have happened in the past decade or so. The park was the busiest that I've seen it in years (I never visit over the weekend though) so that's good for the future of the park. The review from someone who had never ridden RF2 before was that he thought it was fantastic and he was amazed that Waldameer has a "real" roller coaster. (the only coaster there the last time he was in the park was the Comet) Overall a good time and a nice review of the park and the prime attraction. -

From my experience riding Vortex (a grand total of 1 time) I had kept my knees bent as one does on a stand up coaster, but the issue was bashing my head on the restraints. It was a just an unpleasant ride for my head. -

Just a question regarding this. A lot of people are talking about the ability of S&S to deliver on a project like this, but didn't S&S just acquire Vekoma? Shouldn't that put forward a little more confidence as they will have more resources to draw from in the manufacturing of the ride? -

I'm glad they put up the clearer video, this thing is so odd. I look forward to riding it. That first drop looks like S&S found the old Drachen Fire plans and went "Why hasn't anyone done this lately?" The Steelers theme is "Meh" but the ride looks nuts and hopefully is a lot fun.
