  1. Does the Boomerang have problems frequently? I'll probably be going to Six Flags St. Louis this summer since I live only five hours away and I actually really love riding Boomerang coasters and I love to ride this one.
  2. Nope, I dislike Boomerangs, and 1984 was practically the Year of the Boomerang. Eli, thanks for the report. SDC is a great place, especially on slower days. I kind of like Boomerang coasters. But SDC is a fun park, not my favorite, but still great. It doesn't get super crowded often. It is only crazy during Spring Break, Memorial Day weekend, Independence Day, Labor Day, and Christmas time. One of my friend's mother who works in management there said that attendance is actually kind of lower than what Herschend would want throughout the year but they make up for it during the Christmas season, which I think is interesting. They seem to be greatly effected by travel holidays. The crowds tend to die out where there is little to no one in the park in the weeks right before a major holiday, especially the 4th of July. I had a photo, but i couldn't find it but it was about 3 in the afternoon and we were at fire in the hole looking up towards the large hill to get into that area, don't know if it has a name or not, but there was not a single person in sight. It was the most awesome feeling, yet quite eerie, as i'm not used to seeing crowds so low. That's awesome! I can't think of a single time that I have stayed there to three in the afternoon (unless it was Christmas time). I usually get there about ten minutes before the park opens so I can watch the flag raising and singing of the National Anthem and I can usually ride everything I want to by about noon. Even on a busier day I can get in and out by noon because they usually run two trains on everything. Really the only three rides in the park that every draw huge lines are Powder Keg, Firefall (due to its low capacity), and the Giant Barn Swing. Even thought the park was almost completely empty yesterday and there was only a short line on the Giant Barn Swing, it still took my twenty minutes to get on the ride. I don't know how, the ops weren't terribly slow or anything.

  4. Yesss. What a great time to be born! Strange how you love coasters which were made the same year you were born. Must be why I love Expedition GeForce (I love it really, which is why I give it harsh reviews (so close to perfect, that it could be perfect (annoying))). Does anyone else find that they like a coaster more as it is made on your birth year. Thanks for the reviews. That's also why I like Cheetah, Batwing, Nitro, Talon, Vertical Velocity, and Titan.
  5. I went to Silver Dollar City earlier this day. First visit since Spring Break, and that day was Hell, super crowded! Today there was not very many people whatsoever, but then again, I got there at opening and left at 11:30. I only went on a handful of rides, I started out at Powder Keg. My first ride on it I sat in the front, there was only one other person on the train. By the time I got around to the entrance again, there was a ride op at the entrance calling out that the ride was open. The second time around I sat in the back, only four other people in the train. Next I went to Wildfire. They were only running one train on it but a second wasn't really needed. First time I sat in the front, the other two times I sat in the back. Wildfire is still my favorite coaster there, little rattly, but has a great view, pulls great forces, and it was built in 2001, which is the same year I was born. I never had to wait more than five minutes, which is good compared to last time at Spring Break when the line went all the way through the upstairs queue line. I didn't even know the queue extended to the second floor of the building, I thought it was just storage. Next I went to Outlaw Run. When I got in there, the ride almost immediately broke down. The lap bars were supposed to come up, but they stayed locked and wouldn't come back up. Does this happen on a lot of other RMC coasters? Because this is the fourth time I've seen this on Outlaw Run, and one of those times I was actually on it. I never got to ride it today as by the time I was ready to leave about an hour and a half later, it was still closed. Next I went to the Giant Barn Swing and took a ride. I kind of think those S&S Screaming Swings are too short in ride time, but oh well, I still had fun. Next I went and rode the Lost River as it was getting pretty hot. After that I went to Firefall and took two rides. Firefall is definitely my favorite flat ride there as it was my first drop tower when it was located at Celebration City, plus it is one of the more powerful S&S Double Shots. The first time I was facing the rest of the park. Now here is the interesting part, the second time I rode on the backside of the tower that faces the employee parking lot and the maintenance area. When we were at the top of the tower I saw a collection of long, round, thick, gray supports. They looked like coaster supports from the way they were shaped and how thick they were, but I don't think they would go with gray for the color of their new coaster, so I assume it is probably just supports for the station or something. There are signs all over the park that mention the new coaster, saying things like "what's all that blasted excitement over by Thunderation?" And other things like that. Overall it was a good day, not too hot, nice breeze, light crowds, no lines. I'm sorry I didn't get any pictures, I didn't even think to bring a camera.
  6. That would be awesome, but there is no way Six Flags will buy that New Orleans park again. It was their least profitable park while operating and, as it is, the cost of repairs would exceed the park's worth. That was the reason Six Flags cut their losses and got out of Dodge (with their hefty insurance check in hand). That was right after the hurricane. Since then, the park has been looted, vandalized, infested with snakes and gators, and left to rust in the weather for 12 years. The cost to refurbish the park would be much more now. Now, if another company rebuilt the park into something profitable, I can see Six Flags looking to buy it again. The way it sits now, I don't think the company would touch it with a 100-foot pole. Maybe. I'd love to see that one company lead by Tonya Pope win the favor of the city so they could reopen the park. Their plan would include retracking the Mega Zeph and getting Timberliners for it (imagine, it was a fantastic ride back then, even with Gerstlauers, imagine it with Timberliners!), reopening the Jester with new trains and a lot more themeing and under the name "Driskill Mountain," a full new water park, they would use the old Jocco's building for a recreation of the classic "Laff in the Dark" ride (they said there would be some Jocco Easter eggs), new water rides, more shows, and more overall themeing. But I don't see why the city is so reluctant to let anybody have the property. The Jazzland Park (the one lead by Tonya Pope) Facebook page gives weekly updates and the city has been pushing this around for SIX YEARS. But something interesting I learned when listening to in interview of Tonya Pope on In the Loop, is that Six Flags New Orleans actually pulled pretty good attendance numbers. She said that each year, the park averaged about 800,000 guests, which is pretty good. That is interesting, as I'd always heard that the park hardly made any money because of its location in a relatively poor area, where many of the locals either weren't interested in, or couldn't afford, season passes. The park was already on the verge of bankruptcy when Six Flags scooped it up. But then again, I received that info from enthusiast blogs, so it may or may not be true. I hope Tonya Pope is successful in reviving the park, though. I never visited the original park, but the idea of a Mardi Gras theme park seems like a lot of fun. The Mega Zeph looks like a great ride, too. Yeah. She thinks the park could have pulled even MORE guests in and kept them there for the entire day if there were more indoor attractions that guests could go to during rain showers, which there is usually a rain shower each day. She also thinks that the water park should have been part of the original plan because that would give a place for guests to go during the day when it is really hot then maybe go to the park when it cools off. One of my favorite parts of her plan is a lot more natural shade. She said they will plant a lot more trees and such, but instead of putting up giant shade structures for until they grow, they are going to put in a lot of fake trees that will provide shade until the real ones are big enough. The only thing I mind weird is that they are building an entirely new entrance, but not where the old one is. It will be kind of near the old Looney Toons area. But they are keeping the old one, which I find weird. And there are SOOOOO many dark rides. They are going to have The Wax, Laff in the Dark, Sea of Love, Haunted House, Voodoo Queen's Battle of the Bands, 4D simulator, a hunting dark ride to tie in with the new sportsman area, and I think there are one or two more! Eitherway, the new Jazzland looks like it will be a blast! But I still wish Six Flags hadn't abandoned it.

  8. Looks great! I love these Justice League dark rides! Even though they make me a little nauseous........ I think the parks that got them this year really needed them. Six Flags Over Georgia needed that ride to give something else to the area of the park that it is in. Six Flags Great Adventure needed another ride in that section of the park other than the Dark Knight coaster. And Six Flags Magic Mountain just needed anything air conditioned.
  9. I mean, it was a Giovanola design and some of those employees split to create B&M, so the designs are pretty similar. So I'm sure they could convert it if they really wanted to. But I see them replacing it with a new coaster of sorts. Maybe a new woodie or an S&S Freefly coaster. I could totally see them using the Total Mayhem name and paint scheme. I think it would look good next to Titan. Would love to see a freefly at the park. Same. If they DID remove Cobra, then there would be more than enough space for one. I mean, there is a long, skinny strip of land behind it so they could put one there, remove Cobra to open up the area and maybe have room for some smaller flats in the future. I'd also love to see them get a Sky Rocket II since they don't have a launch coaster. I wonder why the Sky Rocket II never caught on in more of the Six Flags parks. I mean it was a good model and it seems Six Flags will copy and paste a model at all of their parks.
  10. Given Six Flags' past, they probably have the old SFOG Ninja trains somewhere and they are using them for parts. I mean they still use parts from Mega Zeph's and Twisted Twins' trains on the Boss' trains.
  11. I kind of hope they buy back some of their old properties like Elitch Gardens, that park is really sad, being their newest ride is a used, trailer mounted swing ride. I would love to see them buy back Darien Lake, that park is depressing as their newest ride is a Super Loop from 2015. And most of all, I would love to see them try and buy back Six Flags New Orleans. I know it would be a stretch, considering the city is probably not very trusting of them, but I think it is possible. They have recently rejected just about all offers from the park (and all three of the offers were more than what the property is worth), because the city said those companies have the finances to buy the park, but they don't have the funds to back their projects. I mean, Six Flags has the immediate funds to buy and rebuild the park. Imagine if they RMC'd the Mega Zeph!
  12. LUCKY! You rode Batman: The Escape at Six Flags Astroworld! The ride looked a little rough around the edges but the themeing looked actually pretty good.

  14. I still want our possible Free Spin to be themed to Two Face YES! Give it the theme and name of that old Invertigo coaster at Six Flags America! Two Face: The Flip Side! I think they could remove the Ninja and put a 4D Freespin there. And the Ninja takes up enough space that they could also probably put a flat ride in there, maybe a Tilt-A-Whirl and call it Harley Quinn's Spinsanity. And I'd love for them to remove the Joker Inc. and put a Zamperla Giant Discovery and name it Riddler's Revenge.
  15. Yep... unfortunately. It's the new Justice League I mean, at least the Justice Leagues are actually really fun rides. The free spin coasters are just so short and aren't a whole lot of fun. They are probably my least favorite cloned coasters. But I love that Six Flags is themeing them!

  17. No. There isn't. Stop comparing Roar to American Thunder because they are GCI's from two different eras and with two entirely different scenarios. Roar opened with PTCs, but American Thunder opened with Millenium Flyers. Roar and its generation of GCI's that opened with PTC's are exceptional cases and should not be viewed as eveidence that GCI's all age poorly or that any GCI could be RMC'ed. Maintenance plays a huge role, and Millennium Flyers reward maintenance's job by tearing the track up less than other train designs do, leading to a smoother coaster for longer. American Thunder is arguably the best maintained wooden coaster in the chain. Just because Apocalyspe went to poo-poo within a couple years doesn't mean American Thunder already has too. This isn't SFMM. This is SFStL, where our maintenance departments actually give a flying f**ck about taking care of their wooden coasters. In the Loop just visited WoF and reported that even Prowler is showing some age, while American Thunder still runs as if were still new based on my rides from last year. I would have to agree with you. I truly think Six Flags St. Louis has one of the best maintenance teams in the chain. Screaming Eagle is over forty years now and it still rides as if it were 1976 and gives plenty of airtime. The same goes for American Thunder, it rides as if it were 2008. And I've had good rides and I've had bad rides on the Boss. The main problem there is that it is Gerstlauer trains, which I don't think those will be replaced soon since they still have tons of spare parts from the Mega Zeph's trains and also from Twisted Twins old trains. And Roar at Six Flags America isn't even that bad, people say it was the roughest of the two Roar coasters and I thought it was pretty enjoyable! And it even still has the PTC trains.
  18. One Wheel Production just posted a video of Super Cyclone testing. I must say, what a nice little coaster! Should be perfect for children and adults alike! It is nice to see this park expanding! Honestly one of my favorite parks, their rides all look great and run well, the staff is very friendly, the price is very reasonable, and the landscaping is great!
  19. Valleyfair had their Starflyer assembled within a month of its delivery.
  20. Wtf. No it would not be a fitting replacement for a full circuit inverting coaster. Full Circuit>Shuttle. Never will an intamin impulse be better than a premier spaghetti bowl. The Premier spaghetti bowl isn't that great unless it's in the dark like Flight of Fear. Not only is the Intamin launch much better but you get a real drop. Yeah, spaghetti bowls are good, but definitely prefer the impulse coasters I've been on. Also, Six Flags America doesn't even have a shuttle coaster, so it would fill another important spot in their lineup while still having a launched coaster. I didn't bother responding right away because the full circuit>shuttle comment just broke my brain. Yeah, let's replace all the impulse coasters with kiddie coasters and Pinfari loopers! I just feel like a spaghetti bowl coaster is a more complete ride. It has good forces, has a fairly long ride time, and has four inversions. Every time I get off an impulse coaster, I just can't but think "that was really it?" They are exciting, but are by no means better than a spaghetti bowl. I feel like if they sent you through a few times more, it would get boring since it is the same thing back and forth, but as it is it is really short. Maybe if they still had that cool holding brake on the vertical spike.
  21. Back at the Joker media day last year someone from the park implied to me that there was a good chance something would happen in the spot where the Go-Karts are to complete the "Justice Leaguing" of that corner of the park. I think I'd prefer a Justice League dark ride to a new big coaster, though. Well, no, that's not true, I'd love a free spin (or similar), but I think they could really use a dark ride of some kind. I would probably prefer the Justice League dark ride opposed to another free spin. Free spin coasters are fun but I've ridden two of the Justice League rides and they really are a blast to ride. Plus I think that a dark ride would make that corner of the park a little more diverse, you would have two family rides (Penguin and the Justice League dark ride), one thrilling flat (Wonder Woman), and two thrilling coasters (Joker and Superman). Overall I'm glad they are removing the Go-Karts. I hate when parks have upcharge attractions, at Celebration City (before it closed) their Go-Karts and the Mini Golf was free with admission.
  22. Eh. I don't really think so. I like full circuit coasters more and I think most people would agree. Plus an impulse only takes up a fraction of the land that a spaghetti bowl takes up. I just wish they would figure out how to stop this from happening again. I LOVE these spaghetti bowl coasters. They are so much FUN!
  23. If this keeps happening and they do remove Joker's Jinx, where would they send it? It seems Six Flags sends all their used coasters to Six Flags America.
  24. Better change my user name to Vekoma Fanboy, but I think the Vekoma family invert looks better. Please don't kill me.
