Lol. Luckily it was about ninety-two degrees in the park so neither of us were complaining. It was just super surprising! I loved it. Do you by any chance know who manufactured their flume? The way the lift looks make it look like it was built in-house but it opened in the early 80's so it is very possible that it could be an Arrow flume. -

I would have expected some charring, but it was so burnt that it was literally all you could taste. Lol. We ended up just going and getting some corn dogs from Floosy's Fried Fancies. That's what we wanted originally but we thought we'd try the pizza since we never have before. But yeah, I like most of SDC's food. It is my home park so I've tried most of the food. I really like the fried dough sandwiches that are over by Fire in the Hole. -

I forgot about the new waterslide, as we never went into the waterpark. I also forgot to mention that we stayed at the hotel directly next door to the park, and were able just to walk over instead of having to pay to park. That was an added bonus, as when I booked the room I had no idea that it was directly next door to the park....just close by. I also have to mention how nice the staff was as well. They were very efficient, and friendly. If I had to pick one negative thing from this park, it would be the food prices. We had gotten 3 small personal pizzas for lunch, and it was near $30. The pizzas were just enough for 1 person and came with a breadstick. Yeah. The is super friendly. When I went I marathoned the Silver Bullet. Every time the train came back to the station and the lap bars popped up, I would push it back down immediately. One of the ride ops noticed this after my tenth ride and said I reminded him of a young version of the operations manager, so he go on the walkie talkie and asked him to come meet me at the Silver Bullet. He showed me his office which was full of roller coaster memorabilia. And also I was riding their flying scooters and my wallet fell out of my pocket but I didn't notice. One of the ride ops actually chased me down and gave it back. I didn't eat there when I went, instead I left the park and went to the diner just down the street. But that seems like a pretty steep price. One time when I went to SDC with my friends last fall we wanted to get some pizza at the Crossroads Pizza place in the park. We thought we'd get a large pizza and split the cost. It ended up being $20. I thought that was pretty steep, but I heard good things about it. It took thirty minutes to get it, and it was two TINY pizzas that were burnt on the bottom and there was barely any cheese or sauce. Or crust for that matter. It was terrible. But it is always a fun story to tell. -

WOW! Great pictures of a wonderful park! I haven't gone since last year but it is a park I wish I could get to more since I live only four hours away in Springfield, Missouri. It is definitely one of my favorite amusement parks. They maintain their coasters and classic flats nicely and the overall park just looks so good! And they have a decent mix of coasters, two that go upside down, a kiddie one, and two family coasters. And I love their flat rides, especially the flying scooters and the Zamperla power surge. And their Wild West Water Works area is fun, too! They just added a new slide tower in it this year. Speaking of which, the super loop isn't the park's newest attraction, the Gunslinger (Power Surge) opened last year and Gully Washer (water slide) opened this year. Brain Drain opened two years ago. Otherwise, that you for visiting this small park! -

I do agree that there are a lot of people that do dumb things, but please don't get political. We come on this site for entertainment, not to hear people complain about politics. There are different forum boards for that. On a lighter note, is anybody visiting Owa soon? This. I don't care what your opinions of current politics are. I and others come to this forum for escapism or entertainment - no need to get into that political shit. -

Awe. I'm sorry. And I heard Rollin' Thunder was actually pretty good, a lot more comfortable than Thunderbolt. Speaking of which, how did you like it? It seems like most people either love it and think it is underrated or most people hate it with a burning passion. And also, what did you think of the rest of Owa? I absolutely LOVE the collection of flat rides they got from Zamperla. -

The Park at OWA Discussion Thread

With 66% of America being obese, this doesn't surprise me. Yeah. But what surprises me is the sheer amount of people commenting about it on one post. Well. It isn't even just one post. Ever since that one post, anytime Owa posted a picture or a video of a ride, there is at least three people that comment/complain about not being able to ride because they are too fat. It makes me sad because they don't blame themselves for being extremely overweight, instead they blame a park that has nothing to do with the requirements for their rides. -

Update: I didn't take any pictures today, I'm SUPER sorry. Well. Actually I did, but it was with my Polaroid instant print and it was mainly pictures with my friend and like flowers and such in the park. The only picture I took of a ride was of the Magnificent Wave Carousel. But my best friend and I went to the park, she isn't much of a coaster enthusiast but I managed to get her on most of the rides, she only refused to get on Firefall and the Giant Barn Swing, but I had no interest in the Giant Barn Swing since it always has a huge line and I don't think it is worth it. We actually had a grand time. We got to the park at opening, it was pouring down rain. The new said it would stop by ten, it didn't, and it kept raining for another hour. We had breakfast at the bakery. We starting walking to the Grand Exposition area since it was just drizzling by this point. We got to the area that has that house with the cooking classes and it started pouring again. We ran to that house and sat on the porch in some rocking chairs. We sat on the porch in back so we could look out over Echo Hollow and we could also look at the construction site. Our new coaster looks impressive already! The station is HUGE and it seems that they are working on siding it right now. And it seems that they probably about about 100-200 feet of track in place and a bunch of supports put up. Any who, we sat there for about half an hour talking, then we thought it would be a good idea to go find either an umbrella or a poncho. We went to the toy shop at Fireman's Landing and bought one of each! She wore the poncho and I carried the umbrella. We went over to the Grand Exposition and rode the Royal Tea Party since it was under a pavilion. By that point the rain was letting up. We walked over to the Magnificent Wave Carousel. As soon as we got to the entrance it was barely drizzling. It was at that point that we watched the most hilarious ride on any ride. The ride started up and all the water that had been collected on top of the ride started flinging off soaking everybody on the ride and anybody standing near it (including us). When we rode all the water had been flung off and it stopped raining. The Wave Carousel is still probably my favorite ride in that area and probably one of my favorite flat rides along with Firefall. After that we rode the Electro Spin. We then went to Outlaw Run. Now, this is probably the prettiest ride I've taken on it. The sky was gray, there was fog in the air, and also it seemed like there was a couple small brush fires in the area because the air smelled a bit smokey and I saw some smoke coming up in multiple places. Any who. Outlaw Run was great as always. Although it was a bit shaky this time, probably since it just rained. Still fun though. Then we had lunch at the fried dough place right next to Fire in the Hole. It was great, but REALLY messy. After that we went to the American Plunge. Now here's the thing, most long flumes I've been on don't get you super wet. The Frightful Falls at Holiday World (currently my favorite log flume) got me pretty wet. And every other time I've ridden the American Plunge I've only gotten misted. Neither of us were expecting to get wet. We hit the water after the drop, and a wave hit me square in the chest and I also get sprayed in the face. Both of us were DRENCHED. Next we rode Wildfire. Not much to say about that. Great ride, little head bangy, still love it though. Next we went to Thunderation. For some reason, that was the longest line we waited in all day. I don't understand why. We waited twenty minutes to ride. Thunderation surprised me. I've been going to SDC ever since I was a couple months old and my parents carried me in a backpack. Over my sixteen years of life, I've gone to SDC at least a hundred times. Same can be said for Thunderation, I've ridden it at least a hundred times. Each time it has been jerky and a tad bit painful. We rode it today, and it was completely smooth. It didn't jerk us around whatsoever. I almost wanted to ride again, although I didn't want to wait in the line, which was getting longer. After that we walked through the Christmas store for a while, then did the cave tour, then left. Overall, I had a great time. After SDC we park hopped to White Water. I forgot how much I hate it there. Neither of us had a great time at White Water. I've gone to a decent amount of water parks now, and I have to say, White Water is probably the worst. It isn't that the park is dirty or the employees are unfriendly, well actually they are but every water park I've been to has had unfriendly employees. But it is just so lackluster and expensive. The park is small, but it is the only water park in the area so it still gets tons of guests so even the smallest slide still has a twenty minute wait. We waited thirty minutes for the family raft slide, went to the wave pool, which was packed, then to the lazy river, which was packed, then we rode just some tube slide that had a thirty minute wait. We looked at the lines for the other slides and didn't think any of them were worth it. Every year I've gotten a season pass for SDC and White Water. Every year I've visit White Water at least once to make the pass worth it. I think I'm just going to drop White Water next year, it isn't worth the extra forty dollars. I'll always get the SDC season pass though, I go probably at least five times a year and of course when you buy things in the park you get a discount, it turns prices that are high into prices that are fair! It was also great to see a bunch of my schoolmates at both parks. At Spokane High School, 1/3 of the students work at the Track parks, another 1/3 works at Lambert's, and the last 1/3 works at SDC/White Water. Oh, one last thing that I noticed. When we were driving past Celebration City, I noticed that they took down Roaring Falls. All the rides are now gone from there. Although the Carousel should still be there. -

I'm going to SDC later today with one of my best friends. KY3 and KSPR said it will be overcast all day so I'm hopping that the kind of stormy weather keeps people away. Although then again, since it is cloudy it makes it cool and actually kind of pleasant outside........ Either way, I'll see if I can find a good spot to take a picture of the new coaster. -

Double post, but I was just thinking about the future of Owa. I wonder if they will continue to be supplied by Zamperla. And if so, I hope the next coaster they gwt is a moto coaster like Steeplechase. -

Damn. Why does it seem that on the day I go back to school, all the parks are making their announcements? I'll be excited to see the layout of this new ride and the theme. I've never been crazy about about the theme of the other coasters at SDC but this Time Traveler steam punk theme thing seems like it could be pretty awesome! As much as I'm glad to see my home park getting something so big and awesome, it makes me sad to see that Herschend still isn't giving anything big to Wild Adventures. -

^ That's wonderful to hear! I'm glad you had a good time! I do wish I lived closer to Owa, but I live about twelve hours away in Springfield, Missouri. I hope to visit maybe in 2019 when I take a southern trip to visit Owa, Alabama Adventure, and Jazzland when/if it reopens. Maybe by then they'll have built another coaster. It'll be nice to go when the trees have all grown a bit. From pictures and videos the park looks really lovely. I love how the company designed the park how they have Rolling Thunder right in the middle with fountains lining it. -

Last I knew, they actually went over to look at Kanonen. Unfortunately, they didn't purchase it because it wasn't "up to their standards". I have a feeling they'll still add this rapids ride for 2018. As much as I'd like to see a thrilling flat ride, I kind of think you may be right. We don't know for sure that they totally canceled the plan. Perhaps it is just taking a bit longer than expected to get approval from the city to build the ride. I'd certainly love to see a rapids ride. They are my all time favorite water ride and I can never pass one up when I go to a park. -

That seems like it would be a WONDERFUL addition at Canobie. It seems very family friendly and it is eye catching to say the least. But I think they would probably want to go with something a bit more new since the last used ride they bought was a bust. But about the Endeavour/Catwoman's Whip. It was a wonderful ride. I thought for sure it was going to make me feel nauseous but I really didn't. It is a very quick ride and you could really feel the forces in your feet. I LOVED the sensation that you got during the ride! It just felt so open and I felt like I was flying. And the lighting package on it was gorgeous. And the line was fairly long for it but the line moved quickly because it is a high capacity ride. They could either get the 24 model where the seats are in a single line or they could get the 48 version with double seats. -

If anybody is looking for some great entertainment, look at Owa's Facebook page. They just did a post talking about safety restrictions on their rides and how guests that are too tall or too fat may not be able to ride. I spent a full ten minutes reading all the comments and I laughed the whole time. About half of the people were saying how they understand that they may not be able to ride some rides when they go to the park because of their size. Then the other half of the people were raving about how the manufacturer discriminates against fat people, how the park needs to put on their website how fat a person can be to ride, and how unsafe the rides must be if they have to kick people off for being fat. It was the funniest thing I've seen on Facebook in a while. I feel so bad for Owa since they have to deal with people like that. -
Yeah, even if it is just a flat ride expansion (maybe a Zamperla Giant Discovery if not a GCI woodie?) it would still be an amazing addition to Six Flags Fiesta Texas. It is already an amazing park with some amazing coasters, great family and thrill rides, a great water park, and overall a wonderful atmosphere. A GCI would just be icing on the cake. I've only ridden four other GCI coasters (Ozark Wildcat, American Thunder, Prowler, and Mystic Timbers) and they have all been wonderful rides. I think it would be amazing if Six Flags Fiesta Texas put chaser lights on it like a classic boardwalk woodie.

Yeah. I mean, Crows Nest is only 65 feet tall and it is still plenty thrilling. Put yeah, I would also love to see something that goes upside down. Or maybe even a Zamperla Endeavor! I rode the one at Six Flags Over Texas and it was a blast! Although I saw three different people get off the ride and vomit. -

I would love if they filled Equinox's space with a Zamperla Vertical Swing, maybe one that is just a bit taller than Crows Nest at Holiday World. Or maybe even a Zamperla Air Race. -
I think I would be more happy with the GCI woodie since that would give them another airtime oriented roller coaster since the only other coaster in the park with airtime is the Iron Rattler. But yeah, I think it would be fun if they got a dive coaster over the cliff someday. Maybe they could eventually remove Pandemonium and relocate it to the Great Escape to replace the Bobsleds or to La Ronde to replace the Cobra and they could put a dive coaster in its place. Although I'm a bit sad that they are removing the Power Surge. Shoot the Chute rides like that are always something I have to ride if an amusement park has one.

God help you if you have to ask someone out on a date. Eh. I'm usually asked more than I have to ask myself. For some reason guys are usually attracted to my perky and naive personality. I'm usually a lot more confident when I'm not all alone in a different state. -

Cedar Fair groupers... scaring the sh*t out of coaster enthusiasts since 2017. Really how is this scary? "Hello! Is it ok if me and my friends sit in row [fill in the blank]? That's it, that's all. They either say yes or no. I've had both happen, but usually the former. Just ask nicely and smile. Eh. I just get scared that they are going to say no. Lol. Same reason a boy my age is scared to ask out another guy or girl. I'm also scared that even if I smile and ask politely that they'll still think I'm a brat or something. Honestly, I don't know why I'm so scared of them when I've talked to actual adults to arrange group volunteer events for my school's chapter of FCCLA. I've had them say no to me. Trust me if that happens you'll forget about it 2 minutes later when you're on the ride and enjoying it in spite of not sitting where you wanted. But if you don't ask at all you're totally giving up an opportunity you might have to nab the seat you want. Just ask. How bad is it if they say no? Just do it. Report back. We're all rooting for you. Thanks. Although the next park I will probably be visiting will probably be my home park, SDC and they only have groupers on the rarest of occasions, usually during the Christmas season and during Spring Break. And the next new park will probably either be Cedar Point next summer and then Silverwood, which I doubt has groupers considering the size of their park. -
