  1. If it lends any credence to the rumors, history shows that Universal started their Springfield expansion with the addition of themed game booths in the area before moving on to their bigger tasks. New Jurassic Park game booths (very, very nice ones by Bob Space Racers) appeared in the land just over a month ago. Plus it has been reported that the Triceratops animatronics in the old Triceratops Encounter have been entirely removed from the paddocks.
  2. While it would probably be the more cost-effective route, I think Six Flags (especially in their dealings with RMC) has been leaning towards custom creations each time. And from talking with the guys at Rocky Mountain Construction at previous IAAPAs, the really don't seem to be interested in settling with the same. It looks like Alan and the team will continue to push their own limits with each new build.
  3. Looks nice and intense! Glad to see this one back up and running!
  4. This is great news for Coney Island. There is no doubt that CAI/Zamperla has gone to incredible lengths to revitalize the park and the surrounding area. Sure some of the original surrounding tenants weren't thrilled about being evicted but I think all of the steps taken to this point were justified and have continued to be justifiable to this date. I loved Coney Island during the day when we visited it in its old form in 2006, but as soon as it got darker it felt like it was time to leave. I doubt I'll feel the same way the next time I get the chance to visit.
  5. ^But with the tower being over 500 ft tall and the wheel will be over 400 ft tall, wouldn't that just make a large obstruction for the view from the Orlando Eye?
  6. I'd imagine the amphitheater has been flagged for future expansion use at some point. Six Flags Over Georgia just took out theirs to make way for a embedded water park expansion for the park, so it wouldn't be farfetched to see this one get removed for some kind of addition to the park's continually expanding lineup.
  7. ^For once the "I can see my house from here!" joke won't be a lie!
  8. That's good to hear! I'm less curious as to when it will be announced and more interested to know where it will be built!
  9. The one thing that has not been referenced at all in the midst of all of the Pantopia development is what will happen with the Timbuktu Theater. It was once home to a dolphin show, and later converted into a 4D Theater where it debuted R.L. Stine's The Haunted Lighthouse. After running for one year, the show was discontinued to make way for an alternating schedule of Leslie Nielson and Eric Idle's Pirates 4D and Sesame Street Lights Camera Imagination. The theater closed quietly a few months ago and it has been reported a few times on Twitter that the sounds of heavy work have been heard going on inside.
  10. Plan to get on the Hogwarts Express without a two park ticket? Ah ah ah!
  11. ^^Greezed Lightnin' was disassembled by blow torch over at Kentucky Kingdom. It is highly unlikely that anything was salvaged except train parts if the trains were still onsite.

  13. Notice the ship from Engineers' ship from Prometheus serves as the station for the coaster. It will be interesting to see the Alien franchise used in a park as more than just a brief scene in a (great) slow moving dark ride.
  14. This can only continue to mean great things for parks around the world. With Vekoma's already wide reach and RMC's insanely successful debut in the industry continuing to carry them into new projects, I think we should expect to side many more projects announced by RMC in the coming years!
  15. As if there was any debate, the things Rocky Mountain Construction has already managed to do Medusa (along with Texas Giant, Iron Rattler and Outlaw Run before it) is proof of just how cutting edge this company is turning out to be when it comes to designing coasters!
  16. Looks like the park turned out great! It is always nice to see a park look as good in reality as it did in the concept art!
  17. Thanks for sharing the great photos of ChristmasTown Chuck! I seriously miss Busch Gardens Williamsburg and hope I can make it back up there sometime in the near future to see for myself all that has changed since our visit during the 2006 East Coast Tour!
  18. I really do love that this coaster has found a home that will surely value it. Can't wait to see how it runs, considering how much time and work has gone into rebuilding it.
  19. Looks like a really nice park! It continues to amaze me just how many new parks China continues to build and operate successfully!
  20. It is neat to see the park keeping the old corkscrew in place like Alton Towers did. Hopefully they can integrate it into the theming of the new ride.

  23. I think the park would require far too much investment to bring it up to standard for Merlin to want to buy in. Plus their investments in Central Florida seem to be doing just fine for them... I doubt they'd want to split their interests in Florida so soon.
  24. ^Yes, but it is painted to resemble a village on the mountain side, as opposed to just looking like a warehouse.
