  2. I've gone ahead and updated the first post to include information about the new Flying Carousel (Wave Swinger) flat ride joining Waldameer's lineup this year. The new article also hints that Waldameer will receive an "extreme teenage ride" in three years.

  6. Busch Gardens Tampa has updated its refurbishment schedule to include new information about the pending closures of some of their various attractions. Closures of note include the refurbishment of the Sky Ride (which utilizes the same station building as the former monorail) at least until the end of the year, as well as the closure of the park's train for just over a month. A more detailed look at the complete schedule can be found here: http://www.buschgardens.com/bgt/CP/?page=Attraction%20Closures Some speculate that this closure surrounds the supposed "major announcement" that has been rumored for February 25th, 2010.
  7. ^^^I believe you are referring to Discovery Island, the nature preserve in the center of Bay Lake. As of current, the island is off limits to regular guests and has been seemingly allowed to sit unused much like River Country. Though from what I hear, Discovery Island may be a little better maintained as of current.

  9. Anyone remember Disney's River Country? The first water park to be built as a part of the Walt Disney World Resort opened in 1976 and closed in late 2001. Since that time, the park has been left to rot, away from the general view of guests, most of whom unaware that such a place ever existed. Slowly nature is reclaiming the remains of the former water park. Disney has put out a Notice of Commencement that work will begun on the nature trail leading to River Country (presumably to stop anyone from getting close to the place anymore), found here: http://or.occompt.com/recorder/eagleweb/downloads/20100083158.pdf?parent=DOC546S21112&id=DOC546S21112.A0 A reader of the Disboards was also able to explore the park and document the state of the former venue. I have selected some photos from the report, but go ahead and visit this link if you'd like to see every photo.
  10. New photos of the state of the former Nara Dreamland Park in Japan as of 2008 (that crazy-awesome knock-off park that Robb and Elissa visited back in 2004, seen here) have surfaced at the Urban Exploration Resource Forum here: http://www.uer.ca/forum_showthread_archive.asp?threadid=59791

  18. A new article has been released speculating the delay for an IPO for Merlin Entertainments (not a specific theme park as the article describes). That means that at least for now, you won't be owning a piece of this company under the London Stock Exchange. http://www.foxbusiness.com/story/markets/industries/entertainment/blackstone-postpone-merlin-ipo/

  21. If it makes you feel any better, of all of the Arrow suspended coasters I've ridden, Flight Deck (at least when it was still Top Gun) was my favorite. And for Son of Beast, I rode it with the loop and loved it. But honestly, considering how many incredible rides I've gotten on GCI's, I wouldn't be upset to see either of them go.
  22. ^Not that that would be a loss in any sense... I would consider that a blessing for the park!
  23. As far as I remember, Son of Beast is built on the more flat part of Kings Island, so the terrain doesn't really fit unless you were to terraform. Not that my guess is by any means accurate, but my first thought when I saw these images in terms of the terrain was that of Six Flags Fiesta Texas with its interesting cliff sides and changing altitudes...

  25. ^Summer Nightastic! is actually a play on the Disney name, Fantasmic!. This originated as a tie-into better promote the changes made to Disneyland's version of the popular show, and since Disney already had the license to the name, they went ahead and used it for their Summer promotion.
