  1. ^What was teased to us during the media event was that the ride would offer guests the experience of seeing Antarctica through the eyes of a penguin, hinting that this would include ALL of the penguin experience. I'm no penguin expert, but even in Antarctica, there are predators. That mixed with what SeaWorld is billing as the "coldest attraction ever developed," has the ability to be more than what any of us could come to expect so far. I'm giving SeaWorld the benefit of the doubt that their claims are going to be more than valid. I haven't been disappointed by any of their recent projects, so I can't expect to start with this one.
  2. http://www.orlandosentinel.com/the-daily-disney/os-disney-annual-earnings-20111110,0,70269.story It is great to see that despite setbacks with Aulani and the tsunami in Japan, the Walt Disney Company had a fiscally successful year. Not only did the increased ticket prices help to raise profits, but customer spending seemed to increase. Especially in the Parks & Resorts division, a 33 percent increase in revenue is excellent!
  3. Busch Gardens Tampa Bay has sent us a press release regarding the birth of their newest Grevy's zebra. [coastertube]http://www.themeparkreview.com/coastertube/play.php?vid=Baby_Zebra_Final_itjj[/coastertube]

  5. ^I have updated the previous post with a new picture of the warning sign, courtesy of our friend!
  6. ^They announced that the old saltwater reef will be replaced with the Freshwater Oasis. It looks like it'll be a great expansion for the park!
  7. A friend of Theme Park Review has sent us some great new photos from Universal Studios Singapore regarding the progress of Transformers and the surrounding area in Sci-Fi City!
  8. I simply cannot disagree more. Those were amazing. My rest of my report was overrated.

  10. ^^^The way that it was described was a "family adventure" ride that would be different each time you rode it. I'm thinking it will still be a penguin dark ride with some sort of interactive element and live penguins thrown into the mix. As for the otters in the Freshwater Oasis, it was described that you could swim alongside with them. Based on what they did with the "swimming alongside the sharks" in the Grand Reef, I'm guessing you'll swim alongside their habitat separated by a pane of glass.
  11. ^San Diego is getting a major addition in the form of Manta. Considering the three Orlando parks in the company earn about forty percent of the SeaWorld Parks & Entertainment total operating income, I think Orlando is entitled (and I use that word sparingly, as justified only by numbers) to additional investment on this scale, especially considering the amount of growing competition next door.
  12. ^Brian Morrow made it a point to note that all three of these new additions are exclusively designed for SeaWorld Orlando and Discovery Cove. From the sound of his presentation, these attractions won't fit into the master plan of any other current SeaWorld parks.
  13. This update is like Biodigital Jazz and a Beef Taco Box combined! Amazing!

  15. ^The image shows that these projections are still only on the front face of the castle. The two side images show the left and right sides of the front face as they would appear seamlessly blending into the middle projection. Same as the regular show, just different content.
  16. 18. I can't imagine that they wouldn't use the landscape for a terrain coaster, as they already have several coasters whose main attributes are height and drops. The plot of land being made available is sizable and varying in its shapes. There is plenty they could do to preserve the area while adding a new coaster, regardless of who the coaster is manufactured by. In my mind, Muntanya Russa at Tibidabo is a great example of what can be done with a mountain terrain in a theme park setting.
