  1. ^^I don't mean to sound insensitive, but that is exactly how Worlds of Fun referred to these wrestlers, both in the press advisory they sent us, as well as in the signage they've included at the event. It may not be the politically correct term, but that is the exacting wording that has been used officially for this offering, so I don't think you're going to get much to change there.
  2. And the last of the Dirty Bash photos are here! Invaders! Hey Indiana Jones! Six Flags did it first! This is quite a picnic! A monster picnic! If you've never been, you truly have no idea how infectious this simple song is. Bon Voyage! This boat was in time out for bad behavior. I found the storage unit with all of the old robots from the end of I, Robot! Okay, here's where we all show our nerdy side. Great American Scream Machine has some incredible pops of airtime. You can just see it looking at the ride. Roads? Where we're going, we wish we had roads! Now try holding a cup of water through this. It isn't easy. Right about here is where most of the water flies out. And if you made it this far with a few drops of water, the jackhammering will fix that. Here I am, still dry. That night's Water Challenge would change that very quickly. We got a pretty cool view of Superman: Ultimate Flight on the tour. Whoosh! Some many ways to interpret. Goliath hasn't lost any of its steam since it opened. This ride still hauls! I'm drooling. The backstage tour gave us a few great views of Goliath as it ran its course. So purty, I want to pet it. New to the park was Dare Devil Dive, a fantastic Gerstlauer Eurofighter that is insanely smooth and maneuvers quickly. For such a small footprint, the coaster winds back into itself several times. But that initial drop is great! As is this unique little dive. I can only imagine how big of a hit this has been for the park! Artsy! Never a dull moment on this one! The train goes through the inline twist pretty slowly, which gives some scary (thanks to the lap bar) hang time. No more wraps on this Mindbender train! We were very up close and personal with Mindbender during the tour. This coaster is Schwartzkopf perfection at its finest. Forceful, smooth and filled with wicked airtime. Shockwave's got nothing on this (that's right Jake, I said it)! While I didn't take any photos from the evening shenanigans, Team Garbels (myself included) won the water challenge and we each got a fresh wheel off of Dare Devil Dive! We found Mr. Six! Even from beyond the grave, Deja Vu scares the heck out of me! I think this is the perfect note to end on.

  4. ^^No worries. Give it time and you'll get used to it here! ^It is rumored that the manatee exhibit will remain, with the addition of new sea turtle exhibits in the existing space. It is heavily rumored that SeaWorld will integrate their recently released Turtle: The Incredible Journey film into the old Manatee pre show room with some sort of 4D theater experience. Again, all of this is merely rumored and will not be official until an announcement is released.
  5. That is what he was implying. He was making a point to narrow down the list of parks that this Sally ride could be going to. I think you might have misunderstood what he was going for.

  8. Worlds of Fun has sent us a media advisory about their very different event taking place this month... See for yourself! We were also told that Puppet 'the Psycho Dwarf' will be there as well... Please tell me someone can go get photos of this event!

  10. Theme Park Review was invited today to participate in a preview of Legoland Florida, specifically focusing on the park's new water skiing show on Lake Eloise, as well as the new Xtreme section of the park and Action City. Included in our tour was a drive through the still-under-construction park, which gave views of the water park which is currently being worked on for a tracked opening next year. Also spotted was the Dragon Coaster, Coastersaurus, Imagination Center, Pirates Cove and portions of Cypress Gardens. That's right! Cypress Gardens has been preserved in name and purpose as the botanical gardens within the park, and is referred to as such on all park signs and maps. Legoland Florida even features several Southern Belle Lego statues as a tribute to the park's past--and these are the first of many Floridian touches exclusive to the park! A couple of interesting notes from today's visit that came up during my interview with the park's head of marketing: The Legoland Florida Water Park is on track to open in 2012 The park will not hold any Halloween events this year, but will debut the Christmas Bricktacular in December for holiday commemoration The park will host a Kids' New Years Eve event capped off by a "Countdown to the New Year" that will take place at 6:00 pm so that children can be involved The park's expansion plan currently focuses on the opening of the water park in the coming year, in addition to working with the development of the new Merlin offerings to open on International Drive in Orlando. The I-Drive Live complex including the Orlando Eye and other Merlin portfolio brands will likely be a partner of sorts for the park. The park has focused on local partners in its development rather than reaching out to larger Orlando attractions and brands There are 50 million bricks in the whole park, 30 million of which are found within the park's Miniland section. LEGO produces the most tires in the world Coastersaurus was heavily upgraded to bring it up to Legoland standards. This included major retracking work, in addition to a completely rebuilt station and queue. Now for some photos from today's tour! From the entrance of the parking lot, the park's new signature coaster experience, The Dragon is visible. What's this I see? That's right! The former Triple Hurricane coaster, now the Coastersaurus has got new wood! The yellow is a great sign of investment in the ride! It looks so nice! Did I mention the ride looks brand new? The coaster's station is brand new and clearly looks it! Flight School is the former Swamp Thing coaster retained from Cypress Gardens Adventure Park. The ride's station has been remodeled to reflect the theme of a flight school. The main reason for today's visit was the preview of the newest show in the park's Pirates Cove section. The Battle for Brickbeard's Bounty is the park's water skiing show, with a LEGO twist. It takes place in one of the two amphitheaters along the shore of Lake Eloise, although the second theater may be used for additional seating during peak seasons. A huge set piece developed by Nassal has been added to the theater. The theater also features water cannons that go off at key points in the show. There is also a splash zone within the seating areas now. While we didn't see them used in the show, there are jets stationed in the front of the theater. You can see the other theater along the shore, as well as the entirety of the "stage" used for the skiing show. Our preview included the first ten minutes of the new show, starting with a visit by three water skiing LEGO soldiers. Notice the Mansion in the background. This Cypress Gardens icon is now owned by Legoland and will be used for private functions and internal meetings. As of current, it will not be open to the public. Marina is the heroine of the show, and even has her own theme song! Brickbeard has a peg leg and hook for a hand, both shaped in the image of their LEGO counterparts. Based on our preview, these three soldiers will be the comic relief of the show. There are actually four soldiers, but one of them couldn't get away from his skis. Marina rides off to go protect the Cove. For more comic relief, there's dancing! One of several Southern Belles in the park, designed as a tribute to the park's Cypress Gardens heritage. Moving on farther into the park, we passed by a few unique structures. The park's climb-and-drop towers are all ready to go. Over in the Xtreme zone is the new Technic Coaster. There was no confirmation if this was the one from Legoland Windsor, but I suspect so. This is a fun wild mouse (with no enclosed roof) that is tame enough for the young thrill seekers the park will attract. The ride was open for us to try out--this was a new credit for me! The cars are highly themed and don't feature an enclosed cabin! The ride is based on the well known LEGO Technic brand. A TPR Index first? They were cycling cars for our entire visit and you could tell how efficiently it was running! We even had the chance to meet some of the ride operators... Needless to say, the park staff is enthusiastic, extremely friendly and very fun to be around. What a great family environment this park will be! This was my first Legoland Florida logo I could find in the park. All of the park benches sport this image. LEGO Technic Test Track coaster overlooks Lake Eloise from the top of the lift hill, providing an amazing view before turning you towards the initial drop. Another signature Legoland ride is Aquazone Wave Racers. This ride is rich in theming and features some very detailed models. There are strategically placed buttons around the ride allowing non-riders to soak those riding with a geyser. On the other side of Wave Racers is this clever model. A few of the rides have yet to be installed. This will be the gateway to the Imagination Center. Action City is the park's most hands-on environment with boat and car driving attractions as well as the Flight School coaster and the Lego City Rescue Academy. There are plenty of visual gags along the course of the boat ride (which we were allowed to take for a spin). This park is clearly gunning for TPR's heart. I'm happy to confirm that the Rescue Academy is similar to the one found in Legoland California, and not a downsized version of the popular attraction. I feel like I'm playing Lego Island... Haven't done that since I was in elementary school! I thought this was very humorous... Yes, this is a Pepsi park. I know this is a TPR favorite around the world, so I'm super excited to get to try these out once the park opens! Just recently announced, Ford will be sponsoring the park's Driving School and Junior Driving School. Signage is already in place on the two attractions' facades. I really was thrilled to see Cypress Gardens directly referred to throughout the park. This is a great throwback to the park's history and a great way of preserving the botanical gardens for future generations--the best of both worlds! Never short of LEGO characters, there is theming at every attraction. As we were preparing to leave, Flight School began testing. Driving School looks like it is nearly complete. Another Legoland sign within the park! I have to give major props to Legoland Florida for filling in all of the dead space between attractions at Cypress Gardens. This space was mostly grass fields and a lengthy walk between Flight School (formerly Swamp Thing) and the rest of the park. Are you a robber? Or a cop? I'll be seeing you soon!
  11. ^I'll send you my check after Yom Kippur. The technology we've dropped into your hands over the years is a marvel. Jack yields the most recent torch like a champ! The Bryan and Adam Show? At least I'll always have this torch I can hold for it. The fundamental message behind the World of Coke is this. We made Coke. Coke made the world better. In other words, we made the world better. Coke lets you live positively. Something else that lets you live positively? Melon Frosty Fanta! A gift from the gods of your gods. We approve of the Coca Cola Freestyle machines as well. Hey American Idol Experience! Look at us now! Which one is the creator? You know the truth. -End transmission Where was I? Oh right, this was about Deep South Bash! We went there. To quote Return of the Jedi: "Toqueto! BLAH!!!!" I inadvertently flooded Robb's phone with live photos during this trip... And I payed for it. Who needs Q-Bots when you have ERT on EVERY FREAKING COASTER IN THE PARK!!! I'm overwhelmed by all the "free." Bryan can't contain himself. He was so enthused, he actually turned to the dark side. Don't get fancy. Just get dancy! NTAG Fright Fest? I'm in! But only if Bryan can have a pointed chin like this. One of the many many benefits of being a Club TPR member? Backstage tours of Monster Mansion! We were actually invited to a picnic... Monster picnic... We took a different path to get to this picnic! I love coasters, but this is still one of my favorite Six Flags attractions ever! Can't you just smell the detail? I was a little monster when I was a boy scout too. My scoutmaster didn't look like this... So many characters at the Monster Plantation! I may have to borrow this idea. Apple core. Baltimore. Who's your friend? ME!!! I feel like the guy on the left is a Looney Toon. I may have to borrow this idea too. Reminds me of a certain Will Ferrell skit from SNL past. He saw the cliffhanger at the end of the last Bryan and Adam Show episode... He didn't take the abrupt end so lightly. Welcome home? You've arrived? Here, here! Anyone know who Armstrong was? I think we're going the wrong way... No kidding! Lift hill enthusiasts, this is for you... All three of you. The effect is more convincing in the dark, obviously. Years ago, Bryan tried to form a "pull my finger" joke for the first season of the Bryan and Adam Show, but I shot it down. The joke ran away to grow up without love. This is the giant result of my ignorance. Monster money!!! Nights in White Satin? I found me pot of gold! Danger lurks at every corner! This makes me crave Subway. This makes me crave Dole Whip. "I have a big head! And tiny little arms!" Even with the lights on, this is spooky!
  12. It is rare that I ever get the chance to helm a Bryan and Adam Show update, and while the canonicity of this update may even fall into question, there is a possibility that the Bryan and Adam Show did visit Atlanta during the weekend of TPR's Deep South Bash. There is an even greater possibility that this dynamic duo, recently cast out of the spotlight by another episodic delay (something to do with Tiger Blood and Adonis DNA) was staging a secret update in plain sight... The records released in this trip report have been recently cleared of their previously confidential status for public eyes. Like Roswell and Mitchellville, Maryland before it, there are many conspiracies surrounding the sightings evidenced in these documents, and we can in no way confirm their legitimacy. Some sightings can be blurry in their execution due to the nature of the beast's evasion. The invasion began in a staging area with plenty of aquatic cooling tanks for the meteoritic vessels' arrival. Due to the nature of The Event, the aliens... I mean producers of the show couldn't announce the extraterrestrial voyager's arrival blatantly. We've already laid our seed in this planet's goo. These are babies... Just wait til they grow to full size. "Was that your aunty?" These are the warriors. Performing the Dive Loop maneuver... Feeding time! Our cousins prefer the cold water... Our spaceship might have landed in the ice... Best crawl beneath to check it out. I see it! Nevermind... Wrong ship. Invaders! The Bryan and Alien Show has infiltrated your world through our shell company. Expect viral marketing campaigns for rides under the guise of Nintimi. Also, make sure to eat your nitamins! Our leader has been on this reconnaissance mission for months. We blend in very well... Represent! A tragedy for sure... Feels like home, doesn't it? See the world through Bryan's eyes. Glamorous in any light! Per the recommendation of Dave, Piranha will be our extinction method of choice. Bryan wanted to use the Kraken, but we had already ordered a second Piranha movie for theaters. The soon to be dominant species. Seconds later, he was one of us. Jake then proceeded to attempt to convert Rudie and Allison. A bright future ahead! We believe Deepo could be a great leader some day. Some may have already realized this, but our race has a few weaknesses... Our ancestors were actually instrumental in the creation of Coca Cola. It may come as a surprise to you, but we've been around since 1886, by your timeline of course. Brother! We honor our fallen. Yes, we always are. "Our plan is falling into place! Take a photo like the gravity is falling too!" A monument to our achievements... Ever seen Skyline? This is our key to uplifting you. It works on walls too. One of our relatives has found a job in which he can stay in his own skin. How nice! Our conquest will soon move outward beyond these walls! The way of the future! My pets found me! Remember how I told you we had a hand in the creation of Coca Cola? This is a photo from that moment. We also gave the world time. Our fingers have been dipped in your economy for years! One of the original canisters Coca-Cola was delivered in. THE original Coca-Cola dispenser from Bryan's ship. LIES!!! Very much a fabrication of the truth!
  13. Bryan's facial expression is amazing.
  14. This just made my night! Time to go set up my countdown clock for the next Deep South Bash!

  16. ^Was there a reason you needed to bump a dormant thread just to share that?
  17. Don't hate me cause you ain't me. Seriously though, this was one of the greatest TPR events ever! Serious props to all of the Six Flags over Georgia team for making this an incredible day filled with amazing ERT, fantastic food, unparalleled prizes and a very wet water challenge! And to Robb and Elissa, thank you so much for once again making Deep South Bash what it was! What an incredible experience this has been (Kristen throwing water on me and all)!
  18. (Continued) This spinning hermit crab reminded me of the old snails from the Mainstreet Electrical Parade. Most people were surprised by the inclusion of a Three Caballeros' themed portion of the parade, but it works really well! It's Jose! It seems they were able to find Donald after the Gran Fiesta Tour. This section ends with two dancers in traditional Latin dresses. Next up is the princess float. The front features Aurora, Snow White and Rapunzel. The back features Cinderella and Belle. The Lion King float also features Turk from Tarzan and King Louie from The Jungle Book. Fierce! The next float features Tiana and the characters of The Princess and the Frog. Tiana is at the front of the float... The Peter Pan/Tinkerbell float features a mix of music from Pirates of the Caribbean and Peter Pan. People were especially surprised when it was announced that Soundsational would feature a float themed to Mary Poppins. Sure enough, it ended up being my most favorite, unorthodox float in the entire parade, both for music and design. The carousel bikes actually move up and down! The design is very different in style from the rest of the floats in the parade, but it works very well! It is the largest of all of the floats and a great finisher to the parade. Curvy chimneys! The penguin moves around the piano, stomping on the keys in sync with the music. So impressive! By the middle of the day, the entire sign structure for EnginEARs Toys was gone. That evening we gave the World of Color dining package at Ariel's Grotto a try. This was the spread of dips for the restaurant's sourdough. From left to right, you've got pesto, butter and a low fat homemade ranch dressing. The bread is baked and served like this! The appetizer is a small plate of chilled seafood. Also included in the appetizer portion is a meat, cheese, olive and tomato plate. There's also a salad included. The best part? Every aspect of the meal is refillable, meaning if you want more, they'll bring some at no extra charge. My dining partner got the chicken dish from the menu, served with steamed veggies and mashed potatoes. I tried the seafood cioppino, which was delicious! The dessert plate is huge! And the quality of what is included is clearly visible! I love World of Color so much, I could eat it up! The view from Ariel's Grotto is pretty nice! Next trip, I'll see World of Color from the Cove Bar for the first time. While I prefer the menu at the Wine Trattoria, I highly recommend Ariel's Grotto as a secondary option for the World of Color dining package. The classic pier signs still look good... And this one was recently added. This one replaced the sign for the former Sun Wheel. The old World of Color gazebo photo op was updated to become a sailor Mickey meet and greet. Catch-a-Flave was retimed to become the Paradise Pier Ice Cream Co. since my last trip. Few references to the old Sun Wheel remain. I miss you! Wasn't sure if I had ever given this to Larry before. California Screamin' was down for the first half of the day for unknown reasons. This newsstand facade was added to one of the snack carts as part of the Paradise Pier update. It even has a reference to Disney's Hollywood Studios! This one seems to work quite well compared to ours... The new Games of the Boardwalk work quite well. It is all very clever.
  19. (Continued) You'd think you're looking at a film cel from the film Sleeping Beauty, but this is actually one of the animated dioramas within the Sleeping Beauty Castle walk thru. Filling in the scenes between the dioramas are books that help tell the story of Sleeping Beauty. While I've never been a major fan of the princess movies, I always find myself amazed by how stylistically similar these dioramas are to the look of the original movie. Each of these scenes has an animated element... And the kingdom slept... It feels like you could just walk into it! The depth of this scene has always impressed me! The grandest scene in the walk thru is also the most strongly animated. Elsewhere in Fantasyland, Rapuzel's meet and greet has been extremely popular, drawing in queues in excess of 60 minutes. Pirates of the Caribbean also had a lengthy wait for the majority of the trip. In the Floridaverse, you aren't likely to get wet on Pirates of the Caribbean. In California, not only is it guaranteed, but it is highly likely that you will end up at least partially soaked. The Dream Suite is so close, yet so far out of reach. As much as I love SeaWorld's lemon slushies, I'd give anything to have a Mint Julep bar in Walt Disney World. Kungaloosh? I had to recreate this from my last trip in order to see how it would turn out on my new camera. I'm very pleased! I know it has its flaws, but I really do love California's Tomorrowland. I have much love for California's Space Mountain. And I mean lots! Remember those fortune tellers I mentioned earlier? Shrunken Ned is another one, found in Adventureland. Shrunken Ned is an animatronic shrunken head of a "doctor" who offers prescriptions for different ailments. Last year, he offered me a cure for insomnia. The cure? Sleep. There was blood on the saddle. Blood on the ground... And a great big puddle, of blood all around. I'm just glad Florida still has the Country Bear Jamboree. I didn't enjoy it at a young age, but the tongue-in-cheekiness of the show really entertains me now. Story of my life. The actual figure from the show smiles. I'm a sucker for Disneyland Park history. The Mine Train thru Nature's Wonderland is one of those rides that fascinates me. America Sings is another. I never did get to try these, but they looked amazing! I also forgot to try these, but they looked so good! Before the start of Soundsational, one of Mainstreet's many citizen acts came out to entertain. Over the years, I've slowly become more of a show person, and I will gladly go on record to say that when it comes to parades, Soundsational is definitely one of my favorites. Mickey and the Fab Five lead the parade in the starting float. Mickey rides the float, actually playing the drums to the music. Goofy, Chip and Dale follow the premiere float, ending for the first set of cues for the parade. Next up is the Aladdin set. Soundsational has a huge cast that keeps the space between floats filled with entertainers. Aladdin waves from his drum perch and occasionally bangs on the gong to the beat of the music. One of the most elaborate floats following Aladdin comes in the form of The Little Mermaid. Bubbles, moving parts and lots of hidden details make this float fun to watch.

  21. Hersheypark has sent us a press release setting the officially reopening date, as September 17th, also welcoming guests on the 18th of the same month.
  22. SeaWorld Orlando has sent us details about their newly expanded Halloween Spooktacular offering, returning at the beginning of October this year.
